After breaking more dried twigs under his feet, Eli reached a huge stone under a huge tree. He sat there and started eating his apple.
" This appears like a dead end. I need to approach Mr Kronzington soon. He might have better information for me."
Eli knew the shortcut round the mountain to the village. His footsteps quickened as he was approaching the shop. He was very excited.
As soon as he turned around the first corner, he realised that the shop was closed. Eli's disappointment was written all over his face. He was really looking forward to this meeting.
In his heart, Eli knew that this was urgent. He had to talk to Mr Kronzington, he could not wait.
That's when Eli decided that after all these years, it was finally time to visit Mr Kronzington at his home.
Mr Kronzington opened the door on the first ring. As if he was expecting the boy.
He smiled at the boy.
" Hello Mr Kronzington, there was something I really wanted to ask you. I hope I am not disturbing you." He took a pause and then quickly added " The shop was closed and I couldn't...I didn't want to wait for it to open. I hope that's ok."
Mr Kronzington's already huge smile widened. He said " Oh boy, you know it's always a delight to talk to you. Come on in, have a seat."
Eli entered the seating room. At first glance, the room looked very typical for a man his age. However, Eli soon noticed that certain nonsensical objects occupied a lot of negative spaces and made the room very clustered.
The couch Mr Kronzington has gestured him to sit on was also not spared. Even though the couch had the usual arrangement of cushions, but in the middle of each of this cushions was an object Eli had never seen before. The object had gel like filling and the outside covering was transparent but what made it so unique was the fact that the little items, there were two of them, were bouncing on and off the sofa on their own. Before he could stop himself, Eli had stretched out his arms to touch the object and soon as the tip of his finger touched the jumping cushion, the cushion changed its shape and expanded and engulfed Eli's arm in its gel like structure. Eli was too shocked to even react but through the corner of his eyes, he say Mr Kronzington sigh loudly and immediately as if on command the cushion fell down on the sofa and continued its jumping in its original shape.
"Kiterbots" Mr Kronzington said in the most natural way. " Alas a man must rely on such items in old-age".
Eli assumed this was a new technology he wasn't aware of. He had always lived a secluded life.
Mr. Kronzington proceeded to talk " I would offer you tea but something tells me that you have urgent matter that can't wait".
Eli gathered all the courage he had, what he was about to say would make any grown man laugh, still he proceeded " Sir, I want to talk to you about a message ... sent by the serpent of light."
With a light nod Mr. Kronzington simply said " Ofcourse my boy. Go ahead ask whatever you want to."
Eli wasn't ready for this casual acceptance of this topic. He wasn't really sure what to say. Mr Kronzington had apparently noticed the confusion on his face.
He kindly offered " How about you read this board first?" and out of nowhere he conjured a thick brick light board in his hand. On top of the board, there it was engraved in a rough hand-
The Serpent of Light.
