Prologue
The sun felt so warm against their skins. Diana, Jessica (Luna, Elizabeth (Luna Daughter), and Lily (Diana Daughter) were enjoying a nice picnic in the clearing in the woods. It was celebrating the last day of summer before Elizabeth and Lily started fifth grade. Diana chocolate brown curled around her shoulders like spirals. Her green eyes reminded me of the forest. She was braiding Lily's murky brown hair into a waterfall braid.
Luna had Elizabeth sitting on her lap fixing the bows that she had put in her hair. They were like twins. Both had long beautiful raven black hair that fell just below their waist. Both with piercing brown eyes that made you feel so calm and relaxed.
As soon as our mothers had finished with our hair Elizabeth had grabbed Lily's hand to go pick some flowers so they could make flower crowns.
“Diana this was such a great idea. Some nice relaxing girl time away from all that pack nonsense,” The Luna said.
“Jessica you know this was just on a whim,” Diana said.
Jessica smiled at her best friend. She had known Diana since they were just little pups. And as they grew up their kids had grown up becoming best friends just like they were.
“Plus we needed a day without the men and their constant discussing pack stuff. Jezz to even just have one dinner without them discussing pack stuff would be nice,” Jessica said with a laugh.
Diana smiled at her best friend. She looked over at her daughter and her god daughter smiling at their giggling as they picked flowers. Jessica had started to make them sandwiches to eat as soon as the girls were done.
Lily and Elizabeth had a mini pile of flowers going on. Lily had just walked an inch more when she spotted a flower white as snow. She gently plucked it and stared at it with such wonder.
“What do you have there?” Elizabeth asked.
She looked at what Lily was holding in her hands.
“It reminds me of snow. It's so pretty,” Lily said.
“Wow that will look great in your hair Lily,” Elizabeth said.
Lily as they both gathered the rest of their flowers heading back to their mother. Diana smiled at her daughter as she showed her the white flower she had found. Diana placed the flower gently in her daughter, smiling at her as she watched her daughter's eyes light up.
Not too far away a small group of rogues watched the women waiting for the right moment to attack them. They waited for their leader to give them the single to attack the mates of the Alpha and Beta of The Blue Moon pack. They had laid and waited for this moment to destroy those men.
“Okay let’s eat some food before we head back to the house. Then from their we’ll make the flower crowns,” Jessica said
Diana was splitting hers and Lily's favorite snack between them. It was an old family recipe for sugar cookies but it was their favorite snack. They had made it together for the first time seeing how Lily was old enough now.
As they all sat there enjoying the food not knowing that they were being watched. The rogues were starting to become restless waiting for their leader to give the signal.
“How much longer,” one growled.
“Shhhh,” another growled.
“Have some patients. Our leader knows what he is doing. We just need to be patient,” another growled.
As they had started to get antsy the leader came to them standing with them. He was watching as the woman and children began to pack everything up. He made a nod and everyone began to shift into their wolf forms.
Diana looked behind her smelling something very strong coming their way. She looked at Jessica who also caught the scent of what was coming their way. Diana looked quickly at the girls. They weren’t too far from the pack house. They could reach it in time for their safety and to get help.
“Lily and Elizabeth run to the pack house. Get help,” Diana said.
Lily and Elizabeth looked confused for a second til they saw the wolves coming out from behind the trees.
“RUN!” Jessica screamed.
Elizabeth and Lily got up and started to run to the pack house. As they watched their daughters run towards the pack house Diana and Jessica began to shift to fight them. Giving their girls time to get away safely from this scene.
“Well well if it isn’t the mates of the Alpha and Beta,” a wolf growled.
They had begun to circle the women. The wolves barking and nipping at women. Taunting them as they kept circling the women. Then one bite at Diana. Grazing her with his teeth as the made to move away causing Diana to whimper in pain. The was all they need as they went in for the attack.
Lily and Elizabeth kept running and running. Lily heard her mother cry and stopped in her tracks. She stood there feeling something telling her to go back. That she needed to go back and help them. Elizabeth turned to Lily. She was crying tears of fear as Lily stood there staring at her.
“Let’s go Lily,” Elizabeth sniffled.
“Go and get our fathers. I need to go back,” Lily said.
“No, I’m scared,” Elizabeth cried.
Lily hugged her best friend tightly. She pulled away from Elizabeth and smiled at her.
“We aren’t that far. Remember to follow the red ribbon your mom tied around the trees,” Lily said.
Elizabeth nodded and began to run back to the pack house. Lily had found a heavy sturdy branch. She ran back to the fight and saw her mom and the luna were both pinned down. She swung as hard as she could at the wolves pinning them down. Each of the wolves whimpered and jumped back. Jessica got to her feet slowly while Diana was shakily standing in front of her daughter.
Both of them were bloody all over just trying to stand their grounds. Lily had the branch firmly in her small grip and swung at each wolf that came towards her. Diana and Jessica had gotten this weird strange energy back to continue to fight.
Elizabeth had finally made it to the house where she spotted her father and beta setting up a grill. Elizabeth's father stood there before looking towards her daughter who stood there crying and shaking. He scooped her up in his arms as she cried into his shoulder.
“What happened Elizabeth?” He asked firmly.
“Mommy, and the beta made us run from the rogues that were about to attack. So Lily and I ran through the woods. But Lily went back to help them leaving me to come get you guys,” Elizabeth sobbed.
“Elizabeth, you did a good job coming to get us. Your father and I will take it from here,” the beta said.
The Alpha, and Beta nodded to each other as another werewolf took the children all into the house for their safety. The Alpha hollered calling upon the wolf warriors for battle. They all shifted into their werewolf forms and began to follow the smell of their mates and child.
Lily swung the huge branch at another wolf that came towards her. Diana and Jessica were fighting with all the strengths praying that their mates would get here soon. Diana could see her daughter was getting tired, but she was trying her hardest. As Diana’s and Jessica's attentions were pulled into a different direction.
Lily could feel herself getting tired as she swung her branch. She was trying so hard to be strong, but her body couldn’t handle it much longer. The leader noticed the child's movements were getting slower. He waited for the right moments before knocking Lily to the ground and sinking his teeth in arm. Lily’s cries echoed through her mother's body.
Diana turned and tackled the leader off her daughter. Noticing her daughter's arm was soaked and covered in blood. She howled as her daughter laid their cradling her arm to her chest. Soon a wolf grabbed Diana by the scruff of her neck and with all his strength threw her against a tree.
Jessica attacked the wolf who had done to her friend. Lily watched in horror as her mother laid by the tree not moving. She stood up slowly trying to walk to her mother before a wolf stopped her from moving any closer.
“Mommy,” Lily whispered.
She stared into the wolf eyes and felt fear running through her body. She kept stepping back trying to keep her distance from the wolf. The branch she had been fighting the wolves had somehow gotten under her feet. She fell backwards hitting her head hard against the ground. Darkness surrounded her as she thought about her mother.
Jessica looked from Lily to Diana. Then back to Lily who she quickly went over to and tried to protect from the wolves who were starting to circling. Jessica was beginning to get tired as she kept snapping and nipping at the wolves every time they came closer. She noticed that some of the wolves had stopped moving. Their eyes were focused on Lily who was sitting up.
Jessica turned to Lily and noticed her once brown hair was now white as snow. Her browns had changed to ocean blue. Lily stood up very slowly and picked up the branch with her good arm. She began to swing violently at them. Jessica backed Lily up as she watched this young pup fighting with all her strength. She started to notice that Lily had wolf ears and wolf tail. But she was still in her human form and to young to shift.
No pup shifted till their 16th birthday. She had never heard of a pup shifting before that. Nor had she ever heard of even a partial shift. It was either a wolf blown shift or nor shift at all. As they felt they were becoming more surrounded till she smelt and felt the familiar bond of her mate.
The Alpha and Beta came charging in with the warriors attacking the wolves with all their might. They weren’t going to leave any of them standing. As the rogue wolves began to drop like flies around them. The lead of the rogues ran off through the woods without getting noticed he had fled.
The Alpha and Beta shifted into their human taking the pants the warriors had brought for them. Jessica was given a long t-shirt as she shifted back into her human. Her mate Nathaniel grabbed her in arms , steading her as she tried to stand with all her strength.
“I’m sorry my love, it took so long to get here,” Nathaniel said.
“No you came just in time,” Jessica said.
Scott quickly went to his daughter running finger through her now snow white hair. He looked at her arm and could see there was a lot of damage to her arm. He pulled her in tight embrace as he almost cried. His baby girl was hurt and something was wrong with her.
“Daddy, I tried my hardest to fight,” Lily whimpered.
“Oh baby girl you were very brave and strong. I am so proud of you sweetie,” Scott said.
As Scott picked up his daughter he began to look at his mate. Finally his eyes caught her as a warrior carried over her limp body to them. She looked so lifeless in the warriors arm.
“Sirs the beta, she is still alive,” the warrior said.
Alpha quickly took Diana in his arms and fast speed ran through the woods with his best friend mate. He was faster than Scott would be as he ran to the pack hospital. Scott held Lily close as he ran through the woods trailing as close as he could to the alpha. Lily's eyes had begun to fall heavy and she passed out from her the bad wound on her arm.
“Don’t worry sweetie we are almost there,” Scott said.
As he ran through the doors of the hospital he was blinded by a huge white light.
