December fifteen marks two years in this maximum-security prison. Lousy Christmas decorations hang around. I don’t know why they bother.
“Inmate 525!” the guard calls out.
Jess and I exchange looks before I get up and stretch my neck from side to side. The cowards move back while I roll my eyes. Pathetic!
“Inmate 526. Follow her.”
It looks like Jess is coming with me to wherever we are going. It should be fun.
Jess runs behind me to catch up. We have just fist bumped when the current hits us.
“f**k!” I curse under my breath as I fall on my knees.
Several guards run in to cuff us and put those black masks over our faces. Idiots!
“Get them into bus along with their dockets,” the prison warden instructs. I wonder which prison they are transferring us to this time. It does not matter. As long as Jess is with me.
“Merry damn Christmas to you!” the warden shouts out as they usher us into a bus.
“This can’t be good,” Jess says and I concur. He is too happy about us leaving.
“Where are you taking us?” I ask the guard next to me.
“Huh! You will find out soon.”
Definitely not good.
“I have a right to know,” I grit my teeth.
“You are a serial killer with forty-five bodies under your belt. You have no right at all. This is good riddance,” he sneers. The self-righteous punk!
“They deserved it. I don’t mind adding you on that list too,” I grit my teeth. He moves back and keeps a distance between us. He is not that dumb after all.
I have a bad feeling when we get into the bus and find all high-profile criminals inside.
This is the only maximum-security prison in the country. They would never move us anywhere else. Where are they taking us?
“The Elim Forest Avenger. How great!” Jack Reaper exclaims while I glare at him. This monster killed and tortured innocent people just for fun. I should have killed him the last time we clashed.
He laughs, showing off a full row of gold teeth when I glare at him.
“Don’t tell me that you are still mad about the nosebleed,” he brags. He would not have been able to punch my nose had his friends not had a knife on Jess’ neck.
“Don’t worry, Weido. There may be some animals where we are headed. You can be their Whisperer.”
The rest on them laugh.
I can feel my anger rising and my heart racing. I will settle a score with them one day.
“Your eyes are turning,” Jess whispers to me while I take deep breaths to calm myself down. This has been happening since I turned eighteen. It is more often now, especially when I am angry.
The bus drives for almost an hour before we get into a private airport and get ushered into the aircraft.
“Are they going to dump us in the ocean or what?” Jess asks. I can feel her heart racing.
“It does not matter. You avenged yourself,” I remind her.
Unlike me, she killed every single one of her tormentors. I still have the president to get rid of, claim back Elim and maybe find Snow. Then my mission will be done.
“I still want to live and get married, have three kids and two dogs.”
I laugh and hold her hand as we take off.
“Then we fight anything that comes our way, Sister. We will do everything we can to make that dream real.”
“Thank you.”
I flash her a smile and frown at the direction the aircraft is headed. It is towards the second largest tropical rainforest. Why would we be heading there?
I feel weird the moment the aircraft lands.
“There are people living here?” Jess asks as we disembark. I am just as shocked.
This is a big estate with mansions and smaller houses in the middle of the forest.
“Woohoo!” Jack Reaper shouts out in excitement.
“So many people. This is heaven! Merry Christmas to me!”
I hope the government knows what it is doing. How can they bring a monster like this here where there are civilians?
My trail of thought is halted by a movement nearby. Pure fluffy white wolf with emerald eyes just like Snow. My heart races and I feel so hot.
I shake my head when the guard speaks. I must be imagining things.
“We are here. This is your new home. Escape at your own risk,” the guard who was escorting us says before leaving our files on the ground and turning back to the aircraft.
Jess and I exchange looks. This is weird.
We are standing aimlessly in front of the massive gate with our hands and arms in cuffs when a group of about twenty gigantic men show up. They have this aura that screams nobility and dominance.
“Now, these are eye candies,” Jess says wittily, but I feel weird. I am smelling a very strange aroma. I don’t even have a name for it. I can’t even explain it.
“Welcome to the sanctuary. Your government does not want you. You will be our slaves. Try anything stupid and you are dead.”
I can feel the anger and hatred emitting from them. They hate us.
“Wow, they actually sold us to s*****y!” Jess cries in disbelief.
“I bet the money is someone’s Christmas bonus,” she adds, but my head is in a chaos. I can’t concentrate on anything. This smell is driving me crazy.
“You must have your wires twisted. I am no one’s slave,” Frank, the bank heist murderer objects and glares at the massive guy wearing the crown.
Stupidity is resisting something you don’t even know. Even worse while your hands and legs are in cuffs.
“Stand down, Slave,” the guy who seems to be their leader commands while Frank laughs.
In a split second, the guy has changed into a massive black wolf and bit Frank’s neck.
“Oh my God!” Jess cries out while a stand frozen on the spot.
My brain can’t comprehend what just happened. Frank has a huge wound on his neck and dead. This man changes back to being human. This can’t be real.
“Werewolf. Impossible!” Jack Reaper mumbles.
I must be dreaming. That is just a mythical creature. I lived in the forest most of my life. There is no way that werewolves are real. No way!
“Anyone else want to challenge me?” the man roars, his eyes are now red and blazing with anger.
Jess knocks on my side.
“Look at his eyes,” she whispers.
“What?” I question.
“He is angry. They are lighting up like yours.”
“What?”
“His are red, yours become emerald, but it is similar.”
I stare blankly at her before making eye contact with their leader. I don’t know if I am imagining it, but I see hesitation in his eyes before he breaks eye contact.
I am snapped back by the man removing our cuffs and shouting out our allocations.
“You, you, you and you, will serve the Alpha of Alphas household.”
That is Me, Jess, Jack Reaper and his friend. I hope this Alpha of Alphas knows what he is up for.
