Chapter 8: Secret child

Narrator's POV

Seeing what Steven looked like, Jacob was more curious about what Steven had been looking at.

“What are you looking at? You look shocked.” Jacob couldn't stop himself from commenting about what Steven looked like. Steven didn't say anything, which made Jacob dare to look at what Steven was looking at on his phone. He was puzzled.

“Steven, I didn't know that you have an illegitimate child. Why don't you tell me you are a father now?” Jacob asked and glanced again at the picture in Steven's phone.

After Steven heard what Jacob had told him, Steven looked at Jacob helplessly. He agreed that the young boy looked like him.

“I don't even have a child!  But can you check this picture to see if it's edited?” Steven looked stressed and didn't know what he should do next. The young boy looked like him as if he was his father!

Jacob nodded while he was laughing. He smirked before he uttered, ”Steven, you got a one-night stand with Veronica, and it looked like you secretly have a child. It looked like you were lucky to have them.”

Steve was defenseless. He couldn't believe he had a child because he couldn't get too close to a woman. It was only Veronica that he had slept with. However, how could the young boy who sent him messages look so much like him?

Steven thought that there was a reason why he and the young boy had the same features. He felt that he needed to find out.

Steven sent Jacob the photo of the boy, and Jacob printed the image to investigate everything. While Steven was waiting, he looked at the number of the young boy that sent him a picture.

“Is it you in the picture or not?” Steven replied, and when Adam saw Steven respond to him, he felt excited when he took out his cell phone.

“Yes, you are right. I'm the boy in the picture. You can call me by my name; it's Adam.”  Adam sent the message while there was a glint of happiness on his face.

When Steven read the young boy's name, it was so precious. Steven suspected that someone was tripping him or trying to deceive him. He was sure that whoever texted him was lying. Instead of getting angry, Steven.was still in a good mood and replied.

“Why did we both look like each other? You want to do the paternity test, and I'd agreed to do the test. Aside from that, what do you want me to do?”

Adam was surprised that Steven agreed with him too quickly. But he was torn about what he would do next. He didn't want to judge Steven since they didn't know each other. If he secretly met with Steven, it was too impossible because Avalynn might find out. However, he needed to do the paternity test to know if Steven was his father.

“For now, we don't need to meet for now. Can you send me your address so I can send you my hair by express delivery? Is it okay with you?”

Steven was alert, and he slowly began to believe that the young boy wasn't trying to lie to him. His heart pounded, and he wondered if the young boy was his son.

“Yes, it's fine with me. I will send you my address, and send me your hair example so we can do the paternity test. If the results come out, I will inform you.” Joseph replied.

Adam thought that Steven was so kind and humble whenever Steven was replying to his text messages. He looked forward to the results and sent anotnotesage.

“Ok. I will send you a message once I send my hair examples. Thanks.”

After Steven talked to Adam, Jacob came inside with a broad smile on his lips. Steven glimpsed at Jacob and waited for what Jacob would say to him.

“Steven, I already checked the photo. I asked someone in our department to check the identification. I received that the photo is legit, and it's not edited.” Jacob stopped and gave Steven a teasing smile.

Jacob continued, “When did you have a son and a woman? Couldn't you be closer to a woman? How did you conceive this child?”

After Steven heard what Jacob had been telling him. Steven became colder and muttered icily, “Maybe, the boy is not mine. It's from my father.”

Jacob automatically shut up. He was afraid to speak because he knew that Steven really disliked his father, and everything about his father didn't like Steven to talk. He knew he could discuss it since it was Steven's triggered topic.

“Steven, Dr. Klaus is here.” Their silent space was broken when the secretary stepped inside and announced the good news to Steven. After Steven heard about the information, Steven smiled too fast and gazed at Jacob.

“You will stay here with my mom, and I will talk to Klaus now.”

Avalynn's POV

I looked around to see where I was. I parked my car in the hospital. I received a call that I needed to meet the client that needed my designs for their film and television.

But, I still did not finish the negotiation because I still needed to do some designs to make them agree to my offer.

I stopped when I felt my phone vibrate, and it was Adam who had called me. I answered the phone because I thought that it was an emergency. Adam wouldn't like to disturb me if it doesn't trouble me.

“Mommy! I located Dr. Klaus again, and I will send you his location!” Adam exclaimed, and I heard him typing on his computer.

“Gotcha! I'm done sending it to you now. But I didn't know where he was going, but I'm sure he was in the vehicle because of the dot's movement. Please, follow him as soon as possible.

I ran so fast to get inside the car and checked what Adam had sent me. He was right because Dr. Klaus looked like he was driving, and I followed him.

Dr. Klaus was driven to the hospital, and he moved so fast that I couldn't reach him again. When I got out of my car, I saw that he was going to the elevator, so I tried to step up rapidly, but the elevator had been closed.

I failed to get inside, so I took my phone to dial Adam's number. A few rings passed, and Adam finally answered the call.

“Adam, I need your help. Please do something to help me because I'm not sure which floor will help Klaus go to now. I want you to check the monitor, and I will take the elevator now.” I pressed the elevator, and minutes passed until it opened. I went inside because I was panicking that Dr. Klaus would escape from us again. Annabelle needs him!

“Mom, you don't need to worry because I'm the smartest regarding hacking. I will tell you which floor Dr. Klaus is staying on now.”

Adam, be quick! We need to find Dr. Klaus as soon as possible!
