Walking in the house with the gifts I got for the kids Laila looks up from her phone giving me a smile.
"I would love to stay but I have to go pick up my brother". She said walking over to me grabbing my chin giving me a kiss.
"It's cool where the kids at". I ask looking around behind her.
"In Josiahs room". She said and I nodded before opening the door and letting her walk out.
Locking it I make my way to Josiahs room to see them watching tv.
"Knock knock look what mommy sent". I said walking all the way into the room holding up the bags.
Their eyes got wide before running over to me.
"What did she get us". Alyssa asked with a wide smile on her face.
"I don't know baby you got to look and see". I said handing the bags to them.
Standing back I watch as they pull out things from the bag and show each other.
"Did we get a letter". Josiah asked and I nodded my head pulling it out of my jacket.
I know it's wrong to lie to them about their mom but it's nice to see them happy and excited about something.
"Yea here it's your turn to read it Alyssa read the last one". I said handing it to him and he quickly opened it.
"Dear Alyssa and Josiah I'm really sorry for not making it to you you guy's boxing match last week but daddy told me you guys won". He read before looking up at me with a huge smile as I gave him a small one back.
"I think about you guys all the time and I can't wait to see you one day and please don't give your daddy a hard time about breakfast anymore anyways I love you and see you soon". He said closing the letter and Alyssa looked over at me with her eyes watering and then Josiahs started watering too.
"What's wrong why y'all crying". I ask walking over pulling them into my arms.
"She says that In all her letters but she never comes". Alyssa said crying into my chest while Josiah hid his face in my chest crying.
"She's just very busy that's all but she's going to be here one day you just have to wait on her". I said looking between the two.
"Yea but how long we've been waiting for 7 years". Josiah said looking up at me.
Damn. I don't know how to respond to that I've been writing these letters since they were five.
"Soon baby boy soon". I said kissing his forehead before kissing Alyssas.
"How about we have a movie night y'all pick the movies and set up and I got the snacks". I said and they nodded excitedly wiping their face before jumping up and running out of the room.
Seeing Alyssa run back into the room she comes over and wraps her arms around my neck kissing the side of my head.
"I love you daddy". She whispered before running back out.
I don't know why but I started crying. I do everything for my kids man and to see them cry like that really f*****g with me.
"DADDY I THOUGHT YOU WAS GETTING THE SNACKS". Josiah called out.
"I'M COMING". I yelled back before standing up.
Wiping my face I walk out of the room and to the kitchen.
As I'm getting the snacks together the phone goes off. Walking over I pick it up answering it.
"Hello". I said holding the phone between my shoulder and ear.
"Hello Adonis". The voice said and I sounded a little familiar.
"Yea who is this". I ask grabbing the juices out of the fridge.
"It's me Maranda". The person said causing me to stop all movement.
"What the f**k do you want". I ask walking off to the back.
"I want to see my kids". She said causing me to laugh.
"Oh you talking about MY kids the ones that you left on the porch". I said causing her to sigh.
"I'm sorry about that but I really want to see them". She said as I rubbed my forehead in frustration.
"DADDY COME ON". I heard Alyssa yell from the living room.
"I'M COMING BABYGIRL". I yelled back covering the phone up.
"Look meet us at the aquarium next Friday at 2:30". I said before hanging up.
Walking to the kitchen I grab the snacks and finally go into the living room. Sitting the snacks on the table I sit on the couch while they grab what they want before they come back and lay under me.
I don't know how they gone react to meeting Maranda next Friday...
