Act 1, Scene 4
Setting: University basketball court. Late afternoon. The court is alive with movement and laughter. LEE YEON leans against a tree nearby, sipping iced coffee. He’s half-listening to music, scrolling on his phone, disinterested — until a familiar laugh makes him freeze. He looks up.
(TAEYANG is on the court, playing basketball with his teammates. He’s sweating, smiling, alive in a way Lee Yeon has never seen before. LEE YEON stands slowly, his heart pounding.)
⸻
LEE YEON
(voiceover, stunned)
Sunbae…?
(He doesn’t move closer. Just stares. TAEYANG runs past, making a shot, high-fiving a teammate. He doesn’t notice Lee Yeon at all. The noise of the court fades under Lee Yeon’s inner thoughts.)
LEE YEON
He’s… here. He’s really here.
(pauses)
Still the same laugh. Same smirk when he scores.
(clutches his coffee tighter)
Why does my heart still flutter like this?
(TAEYANG walks past, towel around his neck, joking with a teammate. He never looks in Lee Yeon’s direction. The moment passes. Lee Yeon’s hand is shaking slightly.)
LEE YEON
He didn’t even see me.
(smiles bitterly)
Of course not.
(He turns to leave, but the camera/stage stays on him — and from a distance, we now see a third figure, standing across the courtyard, half-hidden behind a pillar. Watching Lee Yeon. Silently. Intently.)
LEE YEON
(voiceover as he walks away)
That was all I needed, right? Just to see him.
(shaky breath)
It doesn’t mean anything. It’s not like I still care.
(pauses)
…Right?
(Scene fades out — but the hidden figure remains in the shadows.)
