HAZEL
Unknown: Still thinking about your taste.
I read the message again, perplexed.
It took me a few more startled reads to fully comprehend it; my guts twisted, and I gasped loudly. I had to take a deep breath to stabilize my body and mind.
Of course, it was him.
Who else would have the guts to text something so nasty and at the worst possible moment?
Something dawned on me…
This text meant that he’d also been thinking about me. It was proof that he felt the same scintillating sensations that I’d experienced while he teased me. I couldn’t help but wonder if he’d gotten hard when the thoughts crossed his mind, the same way I got wet each time it hit me.
“Hazel Cauthon, earth to,” I chastised myself.
Like the effects of a spell were washing over me, I jerked back to my senses and blocked him.

After the chaotic events of the past week, I was grateful for the silence that followed in the days after Alpha’s hospitalization.
Little did I know that it was the calm before a raging storm, but I would soon find out, spectacularly so.
Tonight, I was to accompany my brother, Zain, for the 150th Trailblazers Award ceremony; a private dinner that was held once every year to celebrate outstanding achievers in the economic sector.
“Welcome Mr and Miss Cauthon, May I take your coats?” the security detail at the entrance offered after validating our invites on an E-scanner.
Unsurprisingly, Zain and I were the only humans attending this award ceremony. I could see that the werewolves kept snickering in disapproval, but I sincerely didn’t care what they thought of me.
As we took our seats, I felt eyes burning into the side of my face, and when I turned around, I found three pairs of eyes latched onto me.
The Rossi Brothers.
Handsome wasn’t adequate for the way they looked. They’d greedily taken every attractive feature a man could possibly have while being created.
“Baby, try the white wine,” I heard an annoyingly familiar voice that made me look away from them.
Unfortunately, I noticed two unpleasant things.
Their table was disturbingly close to ours, and there was an extra guest that didn’t deserve to be here; Zephyr’s fiancée, Levita.
That whiny little spoiled redhead had no business being here. Her father bought her certificates from kindergarten to college. She’s never earned a penny in her life.
I’m pretty sure daddy’s money buys her everything.
“You’ve not touched your wine, you’ll need it to stay sane,” Zain called my attention, looking slightly unnerved by the intimidating glares being thrown at us.
I rolled my eyes at no one in particular, exhausted.
“I deserve to be here, I don’t need wine to know that,” I grunted, “you deserve it too. You’re a Cauthon, no one walks over us.”
Zain turned me, putting on his game face and nodding at the encouragement. It brought me a sense of pride knowing that we had the same resilient spirit.
“Do you think your kind should be throwing around the word “deserve” like that?” came that same annoying voice from before, but this time, it was directed at me.
I turned to Levita, a dead serious look covering my features.
“And what exactly does a spoiled brat know about being deserving of anything when everything has been handed to you on a platter of gold?”
Small gasps scattered around us, and I could swear that at least two of the three Rossi brothers were biting back smirks.
Zephyr definitely was.
Levita sputtered, forcing laughter when she was clearly shaken by my question. “ Everything? Shut your rotten mouth, human.”
She emphasized on my kind as if the word itself was an insult. It wasn’t to me though, my lack of enhanced abilities fueled my ambition and made me work ten times harder for everything.
I laughed, sincerely amused.
Then, I challenged her. “Fine, mention three things you’ve worked for. Just three.”
Levita shakily ran her bright pink stiletto nails over her full breasts and flat tummy, pointing out another thing that was paid for by daddy’s dirty money; her surgically enhanced body.
“W–well, I had my own company by eighteen. There are twelve charities under my name. And I’ve donated to every cause on earth,” she rolled her eyes.
I was laughing even louder this time around, nearly tearing up from how pathetic she sounded.
“Honey,” I feigned a sweet tone, “we all know your trust fund did all that, and the only reason you’re able to sit in this hall is because you’re Zephyr’s fiancée,” I paused to drink in her reddened cheeks, “and that union was probably also made possible by daddy’s money.”
Her nostrils practically flared open in anger, “I don’t need to cling to a man to get to places. I’m a f*****g Princess and heiress of my pack, there’s no place I can’t walk into as I please.”
I yawned at her lousy comeback, “yet another thing that was thrown at you from birth, and not something you worked for, because you’ve never known sweat.”
Levita was about to respond when the spotlight suddenly landed on me and everyone’s attention was torn from our little argument.
“Hazel Cauthon, join us on stage to receive the award for the leading young economic force in the country,” the moderator announced with a huge grin.
Proudly, I got out of my seat, flashing Levita a blinding smile before I began to strut towards the podium confidently.
The applause from the crowd was scattered and uncertain because most of them didn’t think I was worthy of such an honor, but the loudest applause came from Zain.
I didn’t know how to feel about it, but the Rossi Brothers hadn’t taken their eyes off me since I began talking back at Levita, and they still had them planted on me like I was the most interesting being in sight.
What was that about? I wondered deeply.
“Thank you for this honor,” I whispered to the head of the trailblazers foundation as he handed me a golden award.
And as the flashlights for the cameras went off, the Rossi brothers took visual pictures of me as well.

After patting my hair and some blush on my cheeks, I grabbed my purse and opened the ladies restroom to leave.
Only to nearly scream my head off when I met a wall in form of a Rossi brother right outside.
I felt a huge palm cover my mouth before I could let out a scream and he had the audacity to flash me a panty-melting smile as he pushed me slowly towards the wall.
“You blocked me, tiger. Why’s that?” Zephyr pointed out without hesitation.
I wiggled away from his hold, but he must’ve wanted me to since he didn’t attempt to stop me. It’s not like I stood a chance against him if he decided to restrict me.
“Out of my way,” I bit out, trying to walk around him.
Again, he didn’t stop me, he just easily reached around me and shoved a card into my purse. That was more than enough to make me halt and angrily glare at him while reaching into my bag to fetch it.
“Meet me at that address tomorrow,” he spoke calmly.
I frowned at him, confused as to why he thought he could tell me what to do. What a tool.
“You’re insane,” I hissed, throwing the card on the floor without so much as a glance at it.
“Debatable,” he snorted, “but I suggest you do as I say, because there’s something you need to see…”
I should’ve stormed off at that pause, but I foolishly remained still, waiting to hear what other crap he had to say.
“…you won’t like it if we have to show it to your father or grandpa of a husband first.”
