AUSTIN'S POV
Her eyes widened and she stared at me with daggers in her eyes for seconds before she averted her gaze and rolled her eyes. "Your joke went too far. It was like we've known each other forever." She mumbled and chuckled sadly.
I chuckled too and nodded my head. "Really? Then how about we talk as if we've known each other forever? Just for today?" I proposed.
She drank her alcohol, looked at me, and smiled before nodding her head. "I guess you want to know my problem, right?" She asked.
"Yes... If you won't mind." I replied and she smiled again but this time, a tear escaped from her eyes.
"Well... There is this jerk I've been dating for years now and we loved each other very well or so I thought. I gave him my all and he always acted as if I was his all too. We planned our marriage..." She stopped to wipe tears off her face while I listened attentively.
"Today was supposed to be our wedding and as you can see, I'm fully dressed. I was already standing at the altar only to receive a message from him that he is not going to come to the altar with me because he has realized his mistake and he wouldn't continue with the wedding. Like... The Motherf**ker did not explain!" She cried as she covered her face and wailed bitterly.
Oops! That was why I hated listening to others' sad news~ It was tugging at my heart and it was painful! I felt an ache for her although it was my first time meeting her and I wanted to rush to the guy and give him a hard punch to the face right then!
Sh*t! My anger refused to subside and I could only clench my fist as I stared at the pathetic lady.
"So, that's my story." She added after wiping her face clean of the tears.
I cleared my throat and sighed. "My story isn't as heartbreaking as yours but I am not happy myself too. Will you like to listen to mine?" I asked her.
As the saying goes, listening to another person's sadness could uplift your sad spirit even if it's a little bit.
I was going to give that a try!
She nodded her head. "Yes, I would like to!" She replied ecstatically and I laughed.
"Okay... I'm a billionaire son and I've been living in luxury from the beginning of my life. I've got everything I ever needed and I've got all I've always wanted and it was great until I realized my dad was the one controlling my life, my decision, and everything concerning my life. I realized I never decided for myself before but I was still okay with it because every decision he had made for me made my life perfect..." I stopped and sighed. I wanted to stop right there because thinking about my problem was breaking my heart further but the anxious look in her eyes made me hesitant.
I stared at her for a moment, deciding whether to continue with my story or not ~ I cleared my throat~ "Until he started asking me to get married when I don't even have a babe yet. He continued to threaten me that I must bring home a wife before he will hand over the company to me but how is that possible?! How?!" I asked with frustration in my voice. "I'm just 25 and I don't even want to get a girlfriend now. How can I take a wife? He refused to listen to me and he's forcing me to get married like marriage is a joke to him but to me, it will be my lifetime decision!" I added and let out a deep breath to calm myself as I was already losing my cool again.
"You're facing a lot too." She mumbled.
"Yeah, right?" I replied and we both chuckled.
The conversation continued till we both got drunk and finally left the bar after a bartender who called herself Lucy came to take her away.
A few days later...
Sitting with my best friend, Luke, my mind kept going back to the moment I had with Jeanette and an idea struck my mind!
My father continued to pester me about getting a wife, causing me to pack out of the house and since then, my mind had been filled with thought of solutions.
"Why do you look so delighted?" Luke asked me when he saw the unusual glow in my eyes and I smiled.
"Do you remember the lady I told you about? The one I met at the bar three days ago?"
"Of course! I do." Luke replied.
I faced him and explained my plan to him. He furrowed his brow and shook his head. "And you think that will work?" He asked with a raised brow.
"Whatever, I will give it a try," I replied and stood up.
I had to do something on time and that had to be now!
I took my car key and left the house, finding my way down to the bar I met Jeanette a few days ago.
Entering the bar, there weren't many customers and Jeanette wasn't there either. I looked around, searching for anything that might help me and that was when my eyes landed on the bartender that came to take her away when she was drunk.
"Hi, You're Lucy, right?" I asked her and she blushed.
"Yes, I am. How may I help you?" Lucy asked me politely as her cheeks remained red.
That was the charm of a handsome man!
I cleared my throat "That lady that was with me a few days ago... Do you happen to see her again since then?" I asked cautiously.
Lucy's face grew serious and she shook her head. "Jeanette doesn't come here often. She isn't the type that drinks." She quickly defended and I immediately waved my hand at her.
"Calm there. No harms! I'm just..." I stopped as I noticed the horror look in the bartender's eyes and I froze! "What..."
