Chapter 5

I sat in front of the dressing mirror as the maid helped braid my hair.

There was a sudden knock on the door, the maid walked to the door to see who it was.

“His highness asked me to deliver this to my lady” a feminine voice came from the door.

The maid received what she was holding and walked up to the dressing mirror to meet me.

“What is it?” I asked her.

“My lord has asked you to put this on for the dinner tonight” she replied as she pointed out the silk red dinner gown she was holding.

“You should try it on” she added.

I nodded.

I stood as the maid helped me put on the dress, it was so tight though but at the end I was able to put it on with the maid’s effort.

The front had a little opening, it was v necked and my back was entirely opened down to my waist.

I felt uncomfortable in the dress, I’ve never worn something like this before.

“I can’t wear this, is there something else I could wear?”I asked the maid.

“Shhhh!!!” She quickly said with a scary look.

“My lady, if my lord wants you to wear this dress then you should, it would make him angry for someone to reject his order and you don’t want to see him angry” she explained.

I immediately remembered the scary tone in his voice, I could feel that fear I had felt earlier, I’d rather wear this than face him again.

“You look pretty if I must say, your highness” she said.

I gave off a relaxin smile.

“What’s your name?” I asked her.

“Maria, my lady” she replied.

That name.....it sounded familiar...Maria, I knew she had something to do with my story but I couldn’t remember what she did.

Maybe that was because I never remembered her to be a maid, she used to be one of the warriors, she tried to help me escape and ended up dyeing.

Now I remember, she never meant any harm to me all this while, rather she had always been a friend.

“You can call me Amanda, my name’s Amanda” I said with a genuine smile this time.

“Yes princess Amanda” she replied.

“You should go downstairs for dinner, you wouldn’t want to keep lord Akira waiting” she added.

Here we go, I’m about to find out what this Akira guy is up to, I just hope my life doesn’t ends here.
