Chapter13
Isabelle POV
I look up to meet his eyes. He's looking at my hands, while Austin is looking at my face.. More so my eyes. I look down at my hands to see that my nails have elongated and have ripped through the marble countertop. I can bet my eyes are blue..
"I am so sorry.." I say curling my hands into fists. The action makes my nails rip through my skin, drawing blood. I immediately uncurl them.
Both of their nostrils flare when they smell it. Faster than I can see, they move over to me, taking one of my hands in both of theirs to look at the cuts; But my hands have already healed.
They look at my hands in disbelief. "How di-"
"I can not wait until you kill him." I look up to where the boys were sitting seconds ago, and there stands Cassandra. I look in disbelief.
"W-what?" She walks closer and takes a seat where Austin was sitting.
"I was going to pop up and be all 'Surprise, I'm here!', but that didn't really work out.. I walked in and you were cooking. I was going to scare you, but then I heard Beth's name.." She trails off. I nod, not able to form any words.
"You were five when you first shifted?" She asks her eyes wide.
"Y-yeah.."
"How tall is your wolf?" She asks. I look at her in confusion.
"Over 7 feet. I'd say almost 8..."
"Holy..-" Her eyes snap over to Austin and Sebastian. They look to be in conversation. I pick up my plate and ease off of the barstool, heading over to the trash to empty it. I do the same for the twins' plate. I put them all in the sink, but I don't move.
I squeeze the counter where the sink is. It creaks and there is no doubt that I am going to leave dents.
"Belle?"
"Isabelle?"
"Princess?"
Though the voices are muffled, I hear all three of them call my name, but I am unable to respond.
"I feel sick.." I mumble incoherently. I turn to face them but as soon as I do, I vomit. The vomit is all black and watery; Through my blurry vision I see the boys rush over to me with a gaping Cassy.
"Isabelle? Princess, look at me." Austin says. When did I get on the floor?
"What the f**k happened?!" Austin shouts. I hear some rushed answers but they all sound distant.
All of it fades and I am left looking at a blinding white light.
~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~
I stare in disbelief.
"Luna Elizabeth.." I whisper, falling to my knees.
She's dressed in a long white dress with her hair braided in a French braid down her back, like the ones I used to do for her.
"Isabelle, honey." She sits down beside me and hugs me, I hug her tight.
"I miss you." I mumble.
I feel her smile in my hair. "I miss you, as well Isabelle." She pulls back so that we are at an arms length apart. "I would like to sit here and talk to you all day, but there is something I must tell you." She says, her face serious.
"Is something wrong?" I ask, growing worried.
"There is a war coming, honey.. And you have to be the one to stop it." she says. Her voice is so soft..
"M-me? I can't do that.."
"Yes, you can. Your special, you just don't know it yet." My brow furrows and she rubs the frown away.
"How am I special?" I ask, confused.
"I cannot tell you how. That is something you must figure out on your own when you go back." I shake my head.
"No. I want to say here. I want to stay here with you." I tell her hugging her to my body.
"I wish you could, honey, but I am on borrowed time. I must go back, and you must go back as well. The fate of the werewolves lies in your hands." She pulls back from me and stands. I stand with her.
"I know all of this seems confusing now, but give it a short while, all will be revealed." She says. She starts fading.
"What if I can't do it? What if I mess up?" I ask, hurriedly.
"You're strong. You will find a way. I will be here if you need help. I Love You."
"I Love You." Then she's gone. Once again I am left staring into a blinding white light. The light fades and turns into pools of darkness.
~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~
I feel a weight being lifted off of my eyes.
I keep my eyes closed and listen to what seems to be shouting.
"What is wrong with her?!" I hear a choked response.
"You said she would be up. Why isn't she awake?!" I open my eyes at that. Austin is holding who I think is a doctor to the wall, yelling in his face.
The doctor looks like he is old enough to be his father. Sebastian and Liam are pulling him back by his shoulders. There are a few nurses in here as well.
"Why isn't she-"
"Austin, shut up!" I yell. Everyone's eyes in the room are on me now. I sit up and take an IV out of my arm and my hand. A couple of the nurses go to object but I hold my hand up, making them stop.
Looking back up at everyone, they are still gaping at me. "Austin, let him go." I say. He's still holding the doctor by his neck, just not as tightly as he was minutes ago.
Austin slowly drops his arms and takes a few steps back, still watching me. Liam and Sebastian let go as well.
"Belle.." My eyes move over to Sebastian. I offer him a small smile. I turn back to Austin, giving him a glare. It's quiet for a few minutes.
"Someone say something- anything, before I get mad." I tell them, lifting my hand and running it through my hair.
Liam is the first to speak. "How are you Luna?"
I laugh. "How- How am I?" I ask. I laugh again, shaking my head. "I wake up, my mate is holding a doctor, who is old enough to be his father, by his neck, and you ask me how am I?" I smile.
He looks so scared; In fact all of them do.
"I'm great, Liam. Thank you for asking." He lets out a breath, that I'm pretty sure he didn't know he was holding.
"What happened?"
The doctor steps forward before he stops. I nod giving him the go ahead.
"You were.. poisoned, Luna." He says, slowly. I pause, and look up at him questionably.
"We ran tests, and it was shown to be something you consumed." A nurse speaks.
Something I consumed? I didn't have anything. Nothing but that... the bottle of water Liza gave me. I shake my head.
Austin looks like he wants to speak, but I fix him with another glare; Sebastian speaks up instead.
"She didn't.."
"Liza gave me a bottle of water. But that was about 30 minutes before I.. passed out." I tell them. The doctor nods before continuing.
"Your wolf was able to slow whatever it was down before you were affected. That is extremely rare. I have never heard of anyone's wolf being able to do what yours did, Luna." He tells me, astonishment clear in his voice. I nod.
"Liam." He steps forward. "Where is Liza at the moment?" He looks to be in thought before he speaks.
"She should be out back, watching pups. It's 1, they should be coming in about 30 minutes from now." I nod.
"I would like to speak to her." I say. He nods and leaves the room. I look up at the nurses and the doctor. "You are free to go, I am fine." They all ask if I'm sure and I nod.
The doctor turns to leave but I stop him.
"Austin, Sebastian, give us a minute please." They look like they want to object, but decide against it. When they close the door, I turn back to the doctor.
"I would like to apologize for Austin.. He should know not to lose his cool like that." I tell him. He nods.
"That wasn't the reason I asked you to stay back. I think I know.. what happened.. But I would just like to be sure. I need Liza here to verify it."
On cue, the door pushes open and she walks in. "Luna, you wanted to see me."
"Yes, please. Just a quick question. Earlier today, when I was coming from the gym, who gave you my water?"
She closes her eyes, no doubt trying to see who it was. "I'm not sure who it was.. I know she was blonde. Black high heels and a black dress. She didn't look like a cook though.." She mumbles.
I nod. "Do you know her name?"
She shakes her head. "No, but I've seen her before. She used to trail behind Alpha Austin and Sebastian before you came.."
Claire.
"Okay, thank you Liza. You are not in any kind of trouble, so you don't have to worry." She nods and takes her leave. I turn back to the doctor.
"I know who it was, but I do not know how she did what she did." I tell him, swinging my legs off of the bed. He steps back and nods.
"Her name is Claire. Do you know her?" It doesn't take long for the name to click in his head.
"Ms. Redding. Yes, she came in earlier.."
"May I ask what for?"
He looks at me for a second before answering. "Needles."
`
I walk out of the infirmary behind the doctor.
"Thank you." I say again.
"No problem, Luna." He replies, giving me a small smile. Austin and Sebastian are at my sides in less than a second.
"Are you okay?" Austin asks. I give him a hard look.
"That was disrespectful, Austin. That man is old enough to be your father and you hold him by his neck?" I ask. He looks at me surprised; No doubt at my tone.
"Even if he told you wrong information you don't go and do that. You're an Alpha; Act like one." He gives me a barely noticeable nod. I turn around and start walking, in search of Cassy.
"Where are you going?"
"To find Cassy. Where is she?"
"Bedroom across from ours.." Sebastian says. "Are you alright?" He asks. I can tell him and Austin are worried, so I stop and turn to them. He opens his mouth to speak but I pull him by his collar to me and place a kiss to his lips. I pull away and speak, "Yes. Please stop asking."
I turn to Austin and tell him the same thing. "I don't get a kiss?" He pouts. I smile before pulling him down so that I can kiss him.
"Happy?" I ask, when I pull away. He nods feverishly.
I turn on my heel and head for the Alpha's floor. I pass a few people and they ask if I'm feeling better. I tell them all the same thing: Yes.
Knocking on Cassy's door, I wait for her to answer. She opens the door and smiles when she sees me.
"Isabelle! Feeling be-"
"Do not finish that sentence. The next person who asks me that I will punch in the face." She giggles- I mean literally giggles- and steps back so that I can come in. I shake my head.
"I need you." I tell her. Her face grows serious.
"Shoot." She says. I try to keep a straight face but I can tell I am failing.
"I need you..." I lean in so that I am whispering into her ear; like it's very important.
"I need you to fix me some food because I am so hungry." I rush out. She swings her arm to hit me in my shoulder but I step back, and me being me, I nearly trip in the process. Austin catches me by my hips, pulling me into him. My backside lands on his front and my eyes grow wide.
Seriously?
"Sorry." He tells me, with no trace of sincerity in his voice. I look up at him and he has a smirk on his face.
Two can play this game, hons!
I push off of him, making sure to rub my bottom on him when I do. He stiffens and his smirk falls.
This time I smirk. "Sorry." I repeat his spoken word without an ounce of sincerity in my voice. His eyes darken a shade as he reaches for me. I step back and link my arm with Cassy's, pulling her with me down the stairs. I hear him groan behind us and I let out a laugh. I lead her to the kitchen and I sit down on the barstool, finally letting her arm go.
"Sorry for dragging you and forcing you to cook for me. I won't trust anyone in the kitchen for a while.. not while Claire is here at least." I mumble the last part to myself.
"It's okay. What would you like to eat?" She asks, opening the fridge like I did earlier.
"A burger and fries, please. The last time you made that for me I was in heaven!" I tell her, the exaggeration clear. She chuckles, and sets to get the stuff.
"So, did the doctor tell you what happened?"
I nod. Realizing she can't see me I speak up. "Yeah, he told me I was poisoned."
She stops grabbing things out of the fridge to look at me. "What?"
"Yeah. He said it was something I consumed." I pause, getting up to walk closer to her.
"I didn't have anything to eat all morning. I was in the gym with Liam.. The only thing I consumed was the water Liza gave me." I whisper to her.
"Did she-?"
I shake my head. "Claire" I mouth to her. Her eyes widen, as realization dawns on her face.
"Last night." She says, and I nod.
"No me, no Luna." I shrug, jumping up onto the counter. She starts to move around the kitchen.
"So what all happened last night?"
"Before I called you? She asked to speak to Austin and Sebastian alone, I asked her what for. She told me it was nothing that concerns me. I openly laughed and told her, and I quote, 'Honey, they are my mates. Anything that concerns them, concerns me. If it concerns anyone in the werewolf community, it concerns me because I am your Luna and Werewolf Queen. Officially or not, it does.'. After that I walked out and called you."
She nods her head, flipping the burger into the pan. "Do you know how she did it?"
I shrug. "No. I don't even know how she knew I was coming to get water. That's what I don't understand." I mumble.
"Let's not dwell too much on that. How'd you get here?" I ask her.
"Fatima, Nathan's jet." She smirks. "I was going to surprise you. Last night you sounded so stressed. When I got here, I asked where the boys were, cos I figured if they were one place, you'd be there. Especially after last night." She bumps her hip into my knee.
"But when I walked in you were talking about Beth.. it just made me stop. I was 18 when I last saw her.."
I quickly do the math. "23 years ago? Cassy, you're 41?!" I ask. I kept up with her birthdate... just not the age.
She smiles gloatingly. "I am." Her tone is prideful.
"You don't look 41."
"I don't look a lot of things. Tell me some things about her.."
I look down at my hands. "What do you want to know?"
"Surprise me." She told me, chopping up potatoes.
My fourteenth birthday.. I can tell her about that.
"One day, she took me out to this amusement park. We rode so many rides, ranging from big to small. I kept begging her to go on the biggest ride with me. She finally caved after the millionth time of me asking. After, she'd won me this gigantic pink bear, before she finally decided we go home, since we hand walked. We held hands and she told me not to let go, no matter what. At first, I didn't know what she meant, but as I grew older, it finally dawned on me. She didn't want me to let go of what we had. No matter what. That day was my 14th birthday. 7 days after that, I lost her. It's like she knew that she was going to leave. Like she knew her death was coming." I look up and find Cassy staring at me.
I stare back at her through the tears that have pooled in my eyes.
"She spent so much time with me through that week, and I didn't know why. I guess she did." I say, wiping my eyes. "In 9 days, it will be 7 years that I have spent without her.. If I had a choice to choose parents.. I would choose for her to be my mom. Blood or not, I consider her to be. She was there when no one else was. She helped me through so much that it's impossible to name... and I miss her."
Cassy turns back to the stove, taking the burger out and cutting off the potatoes. She turns her head to me and smiles.
"You love her."
I smile. "That I do."
~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~
Austin and Sebastian follow me up the stairs.
"You know that the both of you could've stayed and finished dinner, right?" I ask rhetorically.
"Yeah, we could've. But the way you were staring at Claire made everyone think you were going to jump across the table and put a knife through her throat." Sebastian says. Austin makes a sound of agreement.
"I have no clue what you're talking about." I reply, opening the door and proceeding to the bed. I plop down on my back, looking at the ceiling. The bed dips on both sides of me and the twins' face come into view.
"I think you know what we're talking about. T-Cassy had to stop you twice." Sebastian holds up two fingers and waves them in front of my face.
"You're seeing things." He gives me a blank 'are-you-serious' stare. I giggle, rolling onto my stomach.
Wow... I have never giggled. Ugh!
Sebastian pulls me back into him with his face in my hair and Austin turns on his side to face me. "I love hearing you laugh."
My face heats.
"I love the way you smell." Sebastian mumbles against my hair.
"I love the way you walk." Austin tells me.
"I love the way you talk."
"I love the way your hair falls down your back."
"I love the way you get possessive when Claire talks to us."
Austin chuckles nodding. "I love that you trust us enough to tell us your past."
"I love the way your eyes twinkle when you talk about Luna Elizabeth."
"I love the way your body reacts when we touch you.." Austin reaches forward to run his finger down my neck. The touch is feather light, but it makes my body shiver nonetheless. He smiles.
"But the only thing I'd love more is when you'll bear my mark."
"I do second that." Sebastian says. I sit up so that I am higher than them. They both watch me, as I do.
"You want to mark me." I state. They both nod.
"We want to mark you; permission is all we're waiting for." Sebastian voices.
I'm quiet for a moment.
"Mark me."
Both of them are up in less than a second. "Are you sure? I mean.. We don't want this to be forced." Austin says, Sebastian nods.
I shake my head.
"It's not forced. I want you both to mark me, and I will mark both of you." I pause. "Once this happens, we can't go back.. Both of you would be mine, and I would be both of yours."
"We're sure, Belle." I face Austin. "I'm sure."
"There is nothing holding you back." I state as I fall back onto the bed, closing my eyes. The bed creaks under both of their weight. I feel hands on my stomach, keeping me on the bed.
"We are going to mark you simultaneously so we don't cause any.. pain that you wouldn't want."
I nod.
They both hover over my collar bone; Their warm breath hitting my skin, causing me to shiver.
"One." Sebastian says, placing the smallest of kisses on my neck.
"Two." Austin speaks.
"Three." They both say before their fangs elongate and pierce the skin on my neck.
