Gomez Hospital
“He just moved his fingers”, exclaimed Nurse Brittany with a visible face of surprise. Nurse Brittany was the one in charge of Charles's rotation.
Brittany Kurt has a gentle, caring demeanor that immediately puts her patients at ease. Her sparkling blue eyes are filled with warmth and empathy, and her infectious smile lights up the room.
Her face is framed by shoulder-length blonde hair, often pulled back in a practical yet stylish bun to keep it out of her way during long shifts. She has a round, friendly face with soft features that convey her nurturing nature.
She is known for her colorful, cheerful scrubs that brighten up the hospital corridors. Despite her size, she moves with grace and agility, a testament to her years of experience in nursing. Her voice is soft and soothing, perfect for comforting patients and their families during difficult times.
Her dedication to her job is unwavering, and she always goes above and beyond to ensure the well-being of those in her care. Her colleagues often describe her as the heart of the hospital, a true caregiver in every sense of the word.
“We shouldn’t give up on this young man even though he hasn’t been identified by any family members. We should put our best efforts in restoring his life”, Nurse Brittany would say numerous times anyone tried to convince her to give up on Charles.
She would then go ahead to check his vitals and his machines which are connected directly to his lungs to aid his breathing. She would do this, first thing in the mornings when she makes her morning rounds, then go ahead to administrating his afternoon dose later in the day. Charles was usually the last patient she would check up on before closing for work. On days she was working overtime, she would stay close to his bedside and read different genres of books to his unconscious self still in his ICU room.
She has been doing these without missing a single day for the past three weeks since he was admitted to the hospital. Even though sometimes she gets weary after a huge workload from other patients, she would still attend to Charles's routine.
After waiting so long for the past three weeks and more, he consciously moved his index finger. Mr. Charles has been brought to the Gomez Hospital by a stranger hours after he had been involved in a hastily motor accident.
A passerby had driven for hours before getting to Gomez Hospital. He picked Charles from the highway with no sign of any hospital in the closest distance. He was driving alone his Mercedes Benz E350L when he had the accident.
A subtle commotion was heard between the hospital staff. Of course, most people have lost hope for this strange patient. In the past three weeks, he has been admitted to the hospital, and no missing cases have been gotten to the hospital on his behalf.
Soon enough, the resident doctors and nurses concluded that he was someone of no significant value. Only Nurse Brittany had decided to take his case and had treated him nicely due to her humane nature.
“Doc Alfred!
Doc Alfred!!
Doc Alfred!!!
Nurse Brittany cried out as she was running to the left wing of the hospital building to use the elevators.

A middle-aged man in his late forties, Dr. Alfred Hayes, exuded a sense of confidence and professionalism in his demeanor. His piercing brown eyes convey intelligence and compassion, reflecting his years of experience as a doctor. Alfred’s neatly trimmed beard and salt-and-pepper hair add to his distinguished appearance, and he often wears a pair of wire-framed glasses perched on his nose, giving him a scholarly air.
He is now the current director of the Gomez Hospital. He had been in charge of the hospital for the past five years since his old father who was the owner of the hospital retired. Huge chunks of paper were seen on his table to explain his busy and tight schedule.
Despite his busy schedule, Alfred always takes the time to listen attentively to his patients, making them feel heard and understood. He has a calm and reassuring presence, which helps to alleviate the fears and concerns of those under his care. Alfred’s dedication to his work is evident in his meticulous attention to detail and his unwavering commitment to providing the best possible care for his patients.
He was seen examining a file that contained information about his next patients. He is a largely built Mexican. He had a protruding belly tucked under a well-ironed sky-blue shirt today. His hairstyle was as simple and well-trimmed as usual.
The hospital director's office is a spacious and well-appointed room, designed to convey authority and professionalism. The walls are a calming shade of blue, adorned with framed certificates and awards, highlighting the director's accomplishments and credentials. A large mahogany desk sits in the center of the room, meticulously organized with a computer, phone, and various office supplies.
Behind the desk, a high-backed leather chair exudes elegance and comfort, with the hospital's logo embroidered on the headrest. The room is filled with natural light streaming in through large windows, offering a view of the bustling hospital grounds below. A plush area rug in muted tones covers the floor, muffling footsteps and adding a touch of luxury.
The director's office is not only a place of work but also a space for meetings and decision-making. A conference table with comfortable chairs is set to one side, perfect for hosting discussions with department heads and other key personnel. The shelves lining the walls are filled with medical textbooks, journals, and binders, showcasing the director's dedication to staying informed and up-to-date in the field of healthcare.
“Hey Anna, where is the file containing the medical reports of Thomas Aguemer? He inquired in a harsh tone. His voice sounded frustrated. He had been looking at all the scattered files on his Desk office and couldn’t seem to find it so he finally decided to ask his assistant if someone had moved it from its initial position.
“Sorry, I didn’t inform you earlier. When you left to have your lunch, I collected his reports to correct and add his past medical records. It just entered and I thought it would be important to attach it so that you can have full information about his tumors.” Anna replied in a soft tone, she is a young single woman in her late teens.
She had been working with Doctor Alfred since he took his official position as the director of the hospital. So it’s okay to say she knows him and likes to keep him organized ahead of any medical appointments. This past few weeks, he had a challenging tight schedule dealing with surgeries and checkups from his past patients.
“Oh, that's okay. I got worried that I might have misplaced it just now. So where is it now, can you hand it over? I have to take a few looks at it before I decide if I can go ahead with this surgery or not, Said Doctor Alfred in a relaxed and elated tone of voice.
“Here it is, his brain tumor had grown back several times in the past. Even though he had been to several good hospitals too”, Said Miss Anna while handing over a chunk of files with the subheading THOMAS’s BRAIN TUMOR REPORT.
He took the files, wore his slightly tinted lens glasses, and examined the file slowly and thoroughly. As he was trying to make a decision, Nurse Brittany interrupted his thoughts by abruptly barging in without permission or a knock.
“Sir, the strange patient in Ward 12c suddenly moved his index fingers. You instructed me to report to you directly if there’s any slight change or …..
Before she could finish her words, Doctor Alfred immediately picked up his stethoscope and rushed downstairs. Miss Anna couldn’t believe what she heard and it was visibly shown on her face.
Meanwhile, Nurse Brittany followed suit and explained what happened today as she was making her normal rounds.
When they reached his room, Charles had opened his eyes but was finding it difficult to speak.
“Please someone should give him a glass of cup to drink, Doctor Alfred requested, looking back to find several spectators in the window of his room. It was obvious that Charles had gotten Popular with his odd stay at the Gomez hospital. Everyone was now impressed at his fast recovery. He continued checking his body and his injury wounds.
“Hey, I’m Mr. Alfred, I’m the director in charge and you’re at my hospital. Do you remember what happened to you before you were admitted here? He asked to get answers no one seemed to know even though they had made several reports at the nearest police stations.
Charles was still trying to grasp what was going on. His full body was all on bondages and he had pains coming from different parts of his body. His environment was unfamiliar and different so he paused for a while before answering Doctor Alfred.
