11. It's all in the past

Seth's POV

Something seemed familiar about Alpha David... Something from my rookie days. I don't know... I decided to run David Thompson's name through the computer down at the precinct. I couldn't believe how many arrests this man had... granted he was younger but it was still a great many and more than even Alpha Jordan ever had... There were some violent offenses and some minor but by my count, there were a great number of felonies in the past and that definitely was a cause for concern... Angel's safety was at risk with this guy! How could he be her fated mate and I wasn't? I decided to take matters into my own hands... I had to get her to reject her fated mate and come back to me. I printed off all of the reports and put them in an envelope and sealed it. 

Seth>> Hey Angel, I need to talk to you about something

Angelica>>You haven't called me "Angel" in years...

Seth>> It's important... Please... Can we meet?

Angelica>> Are you going to try anything?

Seth>> We can meet at The Silver Siren if you'd like

Angelica>>You always hated that place

Seth>>It has always been your safe haven. I just need to tell you something. Please.

Angelica>> I'll meet you there in 20 minutes

That definitely was a lot easier than expected... then again, that's Angel for you... a literal Angel in my life and I regret not treating her that way. I decided to hurry and wait for her there. I had a single long stem rose and the envelope for her and waited by the front door. I saw her shortly after. Her hair was tied up in a bun, her clothes were baggy like she had lost weight but she still looked amazing... She seemed surprised by my appearance as well. She half-smiled as she took the rose I offered her and put her nose to it gently. Rose and vanilla have always been a favorite combination for her...

We walked around a bit as I give her the envelope and we just talk.

"Angel, I'm sorry for my behavior. Do you remember the day everything changed?"

"Like it was yesterday. You went from being my protector to hitting me and threatening me. I was so scared... but you told me I had to obey or Alpha Jordan would do worse to me."

"That was never a lie. He told me I had to keep you in line. I had to break you and make you cower so you wouldn't realize your destiny as it would be his downfall. He was afraid of you. If I hadn't done what I did, he would have done far worse."

"What about the rape and everything else?"

"That wasn't my decision. He chose that honestly. As Omega's, we have to listen to the Alpha and any superior ranking wolf. You know that as well as I do. Look, Angel, I cannot change the past between us. I'm not even asking anything of you. I just wanted to explain why I did what I had done... You are a very important person in our world. To me, you mean even more... Please... read what is in this envelope... I beg you to see the truth."

"Seth, I forgive you for your actions as long as you go back to being the sweet guy you were before all of this happened. No more manipulation. No more abuse. None of it."

"Is that an order," I asked playfully.

"What are you talking about?"

"You killed Alpha Jordan... you are in command of our clan now..."

"Oh, shit..."

David's POV

Today was long and trying. The board called an impromptu meeting trying to get me to consider merging with another corporation and I just didn't want any part of that company. They are known for embezzlement schemes. I walked into the living room to see Angelica waiting for me. Her arms were crossed and the look on her face had me whimpering. I was in trouble... but why? What did I do? I looked from her to the coffee table. There was my mug shot and several documents on there... how did she find out... who could have told her?

"Angel... baby... please just let me-"

"No! You have had time to tell me about this. Instead, I have to find out because someone gave me these documents. Felonies and misdemeanors... theft, robbery, aggravated assault, drug possession, murder... and you think not telling me was going to what? Make it seem like this never happened?"

"I have a past, okay?! I'm not proud of my actions in my past but I am not that person anymore."

"Look, I don't want to hear it. By omitting the truth, you lied to me. I hate lies... I cannot take secrets and deception. I have had enough of that in my life already!"

I tried to hug her and calm her like usual but she pushed past me and ran to her room. She brought out her suitcase of belongings and left without a word. What the hell just happened and what do I do from here...

Angelica's POV

I was so angry I couldn't think straight. I drove around aimlessly for hours. I have no idea where to go or what to do. I just want to cry for being so stupid. I was in tears when I heard a voice in my head.

"Go to Seth's house. David won't come for you there. Seth will protect you. He gave you those documents didn't he? Maybe he really has changed."

"Nice try Seth. I know that's you. I'm getting better at this mindlink stuff."

"Well, I had to try you know. Look, seriously, you can come and stay with me for a little bit while you clear your head and hide or you can go to the pack house seeing as you run the clan... It's not like you have to stay in your car and sleep there."

"How did you know?"

"I have known you almost all of our lives. I know you don't know how to handle situations like this as we all made sure we did what we could to keep you from facing it like a healthy person. Again, I'm sorry for my part in that."

"You don't have to keep saying sorry... though it does help."

I was so focused on the conversation I didn't notice I actually did drive to Seth's house. Perhaps staying here wouldn't be so bad... It would be something familiar to me anyway...
