12. Three Months Later

659 Words
Seth's POV It's been three months since Angel left David. Three months of her acting like I'm her gay best friend... She doesn't flirt with me and doesn't even see me as someone she could be with. But I didn't mind. Having her in my life was better than not having her at all. Angel decided to live in the packhouse. I didn't blame her. She decided a change was needed in our clan. The pack had new rules to live by. I couldn't help but agree... 1. Wolves are encouraged to find their fated mate, one will not be provided to them by the alpha. 2. Wolves were discouraged from leaving the territory. One may but at their own risk. 3. It doesn't matter your rank, we all work together equally 4. Each wolf pulls his/her own weight, otherwise, they are welcome to leave. 5. Hazing will not be tolerated. At first, the wolves tried to fight her rules. That lasted for about 2 hours. I don't think she realizes her alpha aura yet as she lets it loose any time she is upset or frightened. I was her beta. The previous betas were asked to leave the packhouse and occupy the other homes like the rest of the clan. I enjoyed being beta but mostly, I was to continue to serve on the mundane police force and act as security for Angel when I was off-duty. It was almost perfect. I don't think Angel knew but I could hear her crying every night. Just listening to her pain as she cried and when she sang at the Silver Siren hurt my heart. Every wolf in the clan could feel how miserable she was. Most of the pack has tried to get her to date. She just refuses and spends what free time she has, training with our warriors. At first, it was to gain strength and learn how to fight and shift on command. Now, she is strengthening them. Her figure has changed over three months' time... It's lean yet muscular... she even bleached her hair to white as a way to match her fur. She even wears heels everywhere now.  Just watching her walk and talk and be herself would make my heart skip a beat. However, I knew she no longer carried those feelings for me. I would be a fool to think she did.  Seth>> Hey, you got a moment? David>> Depends. What's up? Seth>> I've been doing what I can with Angel but I think the only solution is for you two to meet again David>> I doubt she'll agree to it Seth>> Let me handle that. Look, I hate you. That hasn't changed. David>> Figured when you ratted me out to her before I could tell her Seth>> I just want her to be happy. I love her enough to let her go. So catch her. Help her. David>> She's been scaring everyone hasn't she Seth>> Even the children are afraid to approach her David>> Kk. David's POV Seth has been sending me pictures and videos of Angel whenever he can. It's been days since he texted me asking me to step in and help. As a rival clan, I shouldn't care. But this was my fated mate... Only the Moon Goddess knows why we were paired together... I wanted to help her... and if hurting me is how she needs to process this then so be it. Being my mate, I decided to mind-link. "Hello Angel." "David? You made me miss my mark. What do you want?" "To meet. We need to talk. What you are doing is unhealthy... I'm worried and so is Seth." "Seth is just upset I'm not sleeping with him. He's trying to be the hero. Don't get your hopes up with him." "Then why is he your beta?" "Friends close, enemies closer. I don't trust him. As my beta, I can keep close tabs on him." Angel refuses to meet but Seth shows up at the donut shop I like to frequent. He was in uniform and seemed determined. What was going on?
