13. Keep your enemies closer

David's POV

Seth was sitting at my favorite table just enjoying some donuts. I hate to say this but how cliche... A cop and their donuts... I still do not understand Seth's desire to meet with me let alone why Angel refuses to speak with me... She won't reject me yet she won't accept me either... It is a very uncomfortable position to be in. The only comfort I have is that she hasn't been with any other males intimately... I would feel that pain through the bond if she had. As if sensing my inner turmoil, Seth perked up and waved me over. 

"So, it's bad enough you took my mate from me... now what do you want?"

"For you to take her back! Please!"

"You saw to it that she would have nothing to do with me..."

"Look, I thought taking you out would result in her running into my arms. No... instead, she has all of the pack doing these mandatory training drills... The academy wasn't as bad as her regiment. The only ones excluded are our elderly and small children. If you are between 12 and 64, you have to be a part of the training."

"So she's leading with an iron paw?"

"She's paranoid! She has us training in case of war. Not that we are on the brink or anything. We naturally have allies and thus are set but she won't let up despite what everyone says. Granted, it's only the older end of that group that complains..."

"Everyone else can see her point about not being helpless if something were to happen."

"She keeps saying that she can sense something is coming but she won't elaborate."

"I bet that just tears you to pieces but again, what do you expect me to do?"

"Talk some sense into her! Or get information out of her..."

"You're the beta."

"Only because she doesn't trust me to have any other role except that which reports directly to her. I'm not even trusted to be an omega. I have wolves monitoring my every move."

"He isn't wrong but why did you agree to meet with my beta without me present?"

"Because, Angel, you refuse to meet with me."

"Come to the agency. Now. Bring that pathetic mutt with you."

"You're not kidding... she just mind linked me... you and I are to go meet her now... she doesn't sound patient either."

"That's exactly what I've been saying..."

Angelica's POV

I couldn't help but pace waiting for those two to show up. I had no intention of speaking with David. Yet. I was waiting as that was probably going to lead to war. My incompetent beta being who he is... had to go and run his mouth... He would be dealt with accordingly but I had to focus on damage control. David couldn't know everything... Goddess, I barely know and understand what is happening. So much has changed since I became Luna. I haven't even spoken with Erica since taking on my role. I sort of just let her be. She left the pack to be with her mate. She wasn't too torn up about Jordan. Seems the fucker got what he deserved after all. I was lost in thought when I heard a knock on my office door. 

"Come in," I stated, watching as David and Seth entered my office. Seth was used to it and thus went to his little chair in the corner. David was looking around and appeared to be admiring my decorative choices.

David's POV

Gray walls with a pale purple accent wall... dark wood and Eggplant purple accents... she definitely was making a statement... her personality was shining through... finally... Angel looked amazing. She gained muscle and looked not only feminine but like a tough woman. I liked it. She no longer looked as frail and timid. Being luna definitely suited her well.

Seth's POV

I was literally called into the principal's office... Angelica was no longer known for being patient. She always appeared to be on edge... it had to be up to me to fix what I did... I didn't like this version of her... I couldn't overpower her anymore. If anything, she would easily defeat me in a fight, and that just made me look terrible... 

"Luna, I felt it imperative that I repair the relationship I destroyed out of jealousy. I omitted some of the truth when providing you those documents... it wasn't out of malice... it was a necessity based upon our reports. It is why he had reduced sentencing. At that, his record was expunged. I just had that in my case notes from my rookie days."

"Seth, you are merely a cockroach these days. I do not trust you nor your intentions. I am tempted to banish you for your actions. So if I were you, I'd shut up and just be here as a witness which is your job."

"Angel, what he says is true. I wish I would have told you sooner but it appears you are doing well."

"No compliments David. I'm only allowing you here because I need help and I don't trust my pack to know what is happening. So if either of you breathes a word of this outside of this room, I will see to it that your testicles will become a coin purse. Understood?"

I looked over at David with wide eyes as we both nodded our heads. I had never heard her speak that way... It was a bit of a turn on honestly...

Angelica's POV

Once the boys agreed to secrecy, I took a deep breath and walked back to my desk, and sat in my chair.

"I have found myself meditating more and more. I have found myself conversing with a being I believe to be the Moon Goddess herself. Many times I have approached her seeking guidance. At first, I was just trying to strengthen my pack as many were too comfortable with letting someone else fight and would not survive an attack. However, war is coming. One of our allies is planning on turning on our pack thanks to a broken promise. I do not know what that promise is. However, I was warned that one of our own members will turn on us as well in favor of the other side. Seth, I think that's you as I cannot trust you and you ran to David to complain. David, I feel your pack is not a threat however I was warned that you would be involved. So, as an ally, I am coming to you and asking for help with a solution to the problem."

"You've been conversing with the Moon Goddess?? How? No one else can do that."

"Easy. She's my mother."
