Chapter Twelve

1091 Words
I woke up in a room and found myself sitting on a chair with my hands and legs tied up with a tape in my mouth. I looked around me and noticed I was in a shop, and the blinds were down. The sign also on the door showed closed while the open glared at me.    The placed smelled like smoke and herbs. The shelves were also lined with jars of different sizes and contained some weird and unrecognizable stuff. The door was pushed open and in walked in a guy with a face mask and a black hat. He wore leather gloves and he was talking to someone on the phone.   “The girl is here and I expect my pay immediately you get here…” he frowned and rubbed his face with his palm. “Of course not! I need it in cash. I’ll wait for you here.” He hanged the phone and faced me with a glare.  “What have you done to piss of the lady?” I glared at him and screamed through the tape in my mouth.   “Gemeouraheupioshi!”   “Wow. Are you Japanese or Chinese? You don’t look like one though.” My kidnapper teased as he relaxed on the plastic chair in front of me and crossed his legs.   “Just keep quiet until she comes here or I’m knocking you out.”    The glass door was pushed open and in came a middle aged woman wearing clothes three size bigger than my body. She looked at me briefly before she faced my abductor and snapped at him.   “Here is your money Russell. Make sure not a word of this comes out or I’ll have no choice but to cast a spell.” She wriggled her fingers for emphasis and raised a brow.   “No worries Anastasia, not a word.” He smirked and walked out of the door. “I’ll be outside when you need me.” Silence reigned after the door slammed shut and Anastasia stood still not moving or turning around to face me.    “Waddoyuwanfrume.” I tried to push the tape out of my mouth to no avail and resorted to just glaring instead.   “Leave that mansion if you want to live. There are things much darker than the eyes see Cecile.” She finally turned to face me.    Her eyes pierced into mine and I felt petrified. She looked at me with so much hatred and I felt like running million miles away from this woman. She walked closer to me holding my gaze and whispered in my ears.   “If you want to live Cecile… You have to live the mansion!” She screamed in my ears. I jumped in fright and the chair I was tied to fell with my body as I landed on the floor with my head smacking the floor and I blacked out.    I woke up right next to the trash and I opened my eyes to find people staring at me with confused faces.   “She’s awake.” Someone whispered beside me. They all looked over me like I was a strange object.  “Leave this place if you don’t want to die.” A voice quietly whispered in my ears. I shuddered remembering what happened.  I didn’t bother to figure out how I got back to the ally, instead and I bolted for the mansion, my heart beat was erratic and I pushed my legs to get me far away from where I was. I pushed through the woods and I could see the outline of the mansion a few feet away from me.   I already had enough of everything, the scary witch to the temperamental vampires. I have to leave this place before I could get killed just like the witch said. She doesn’t really look like someone who threatens just for show.   I was almost there and I sighed in relief. I would just pack my bags and wait for the perfect moment to make my escape.   *** Immediately I opened the door to the mansion I entered quickly and I noticed something was off. The place was more quiet and deserted than usual. I climbed the stairs heading for my room and I heard a scream.    I couldn’t figure out who was screaming, but I knew the lady was angry. I climbed further up the stairs and I heard more screams. My feet were already starting to ache and I cursed the stupid vampire rule of the mansion.    On the last stair to the sixth floor I heard the scream more clearly and I covered my ears. “Where is she!?” I paused at the stairs, my blood ran cold because I knew who that voice belonged to and I knew who she was looking for.   I turned around planning on forgetting everything I needed and escape. I was very sure Lady Evelyn was angry enough to have my head. I bolted down the stairs quietly and I prayed they wouldn’t hear me.    Unfortunately for the four guards were going up the stairs and immediately they saw me they shouted in alarm.    “She’s here!” The four guards ran up to grab me and I was held by my arms and legs like an animal. My survival instincts awakened and I struggled to get off their grip but it was impossible. They sped up the stairs and I saw the lady outside my room with the door open. All the slaves that worked in the house were on their knees and they bowed not daring to look at the Lady.   I was roughly pushed to the ground and my legs began shake and I was forced to my knees. Lady Evelyn walked closer to me and grabbed my chin with her long and sharp nails. I felt blood drip on my face and I winced in pain. “I’ve always suspected you. I knew you were a thief since the day you came here and I would show you how worthless thieves are treated here. Take her to the cell.” She waved to the guards.   ‘Let her enjoy some quiet time before she’s punished.” Two guards grabbed me by the arms and dragged me down the stairs leading me to my new room, hopefully for this night.
