Chapter Fourteen

1140 Words
It was dark already and we were still on the road. Asher had told me a few hours ago that I could take a quick nap but I couldn’t. The emotions I had unknowingly locked up was now open. My mind kept flashing to every single incident that happened back at the mansion, the mysterious killings, the red eyes and the incident with Lady Evelyn. Everything was so confusing that I couldn’t stop to think straight, and to make matters worse we seemed to be the only one driving in the continuous down pour and I feared we might be attacked. I remembered what the mysterious lady said and I wondered if she was the brain behind the killings at the mansion. I sighed and laid my head on the cool glass of the car window. I looked out and watched as everything moved fast in a blur and suddenly hand writing appeared on my window. Good Girl… I jerked back and screamed as the writing disappeared. Asher jerked the steering in shock and I screamed again as we almost drove over the bridge but miraculously Asher swerved back to the road and parked properly. “What the hell was that about?” He snapped as his hands twitched nervously. “I’m sorry I saw something on my window and I freaked out, I thought we were about to be ambushed.” I spoke nervously hopping we were closer to our destination. “What exactly did you see?” He turned back to the steering and swerved back into the road. I tried to hold the whole story for when we would arrive at the cabin. “It was nothing, don’t worry about it.” “So we almost crashed and died because you saw nothing? Come on Cecile I’m not stupid to know you saw something. Unless you don’t want to talk about it and we would talk about it.” “Yes we would but not yet, when we get to the cabin.” *** By the time we got to the cabin it was almost dawn and I felt so tired. I jumped out of the car and looked around the isolated area. The cabin was in the middle of a forest. Thick tall trees surrounded us and the frequent sounds of an owl freaked me out a little. “Let’s go.” Asher groaned beside me stretching his arms and legs with a small bag on his arms. He opened the door and the smell of dusts welcomed us. Everything in the room was filled with dust and cobwebs and I coughed as we walked past the small living room took a left turn and walked through a narrow passage. Everywhere we went was filled with cobwebs and I could feel the rising goose bumps on my arms. “…Don’t worry we have a warm water in the showers, so you could freshen up.” Asher chuckled noticing my frustration with the webs. “How long has this place been here empty? It looks like were in an abandoned house.” “It’s been years, I could remember I was still a horny teen back then. Often times Haden and I would run away and come down here and throw parties. Till now no one knows about this place.” He smirked and pushed a door open. “That is your room. I’ll be in the kitchen when you’re through.” He slammed the door. I walked towards the next room and pushed the door open, coughing a bit at the dust and cobwebs in the room. The place was dark and a stench I couldn’t put my hands on filled the air. If they actually threw a lot of parties here, that means the whole place would be a mess for sure. I wrinkled my nose and looked for the light switch and turned on the lights. There would be a lot of cleaning to do here, cus it seems we would be here for a long time. *** Asher was cooking something when I finally found the kitchen. I walked closer and sniffed the air. “Gross.” I almost barfed at the horrible smell. “Dude what are you doing?” I walked closer trying to figure the hell he was doing. “Damn the stupid fry pan. I was trying to make scrambled eggs but the eggs keep sticking to the pan, I even added water to it but now it’s ruined.” He turned off the cooker and dropped the spatula he was holding with a huff. “Dude…” I doubled over and started to laugh. The way he was looking at me right now wasn’t helping at all as I kept laughing. “At least I didn’t burn the kitchen down.” He murmured and walked past me to the coffee maker. After minutes of laughing I grinned and faced him. “You know when you want to make scrambled eggs you first have to heat up a little oil before adding the eggs not water. I tried to hold myself from laughing again. “Whatever. Next time you cook. Now do you want coffee or not.” “Are you sure it’s not poisonous?” I teased. “Forget I even asked. At least I didn’t spend an hour in the shower doing only God knows what. The day someone could explain why girls use a generation in the shower is the day I would live without a confused mind.” “Geez, don’t be a sour puss. I’ll take the coffee now.” I smiled. “Too late, go make yours.” He grinned. *** “So what actually did you and Haden find out?” We were both sitting at the dining table carefully sipping the hot coffee while chewing on a croissant at the same time. “Yeah, so about that you have to promise you wouldn’t freak out cus this is really sensitive. Haden found out about this but I told him not to tell you that I would don it instead.” I waited with bathed breath, Asher was talking as f what he wanted to tell me was about a deceased family member. “Just tell me what it is Asher!” I snapped. “Okay! Okay! Fine geez. What are your parent’s surnames?” “It’s Davis, what does that have to do with anything.” “Well it has a lot to do because a week ago Haden found your birth certificate and we were confused with what we found… “On the certificate your name was Cecile Olivia De’ Lucca.” “So my parents are not actually my real parents?” “Yes, but the shocking fact was that the name belongs to only one person and he was Lord Edward’s best friend and the late vampire King of Athenia, Fredrick De’ Lucca.
