The doctor left ten minutes after taking a sample of my blood with a promise to return within the next three days.
Everyone sat in my room, wondering how I got vampire venom in my blood. Sadly I was unable to come up with an explanation due to my blocked memories. It was frustrating know that my memories were blocked. Every time I tried to remember that lost piece of my mind all I could feel was a wall blocking it.
For days I kept to myself, thinking of how I could not regain my lost memories after days. And I felt scared that was getting sick, but I felt very fine and healthy.
Katherine and the rest argued all day, wondering how a vampire could have burgled into the cabin and injected me without them knowing. We barely had time to talk to each other about my family history and the myth behind the diary.
We all spent the whole days keeping to each other and waiting for Doctor Stukkins to arrive with the results.
And the weird thing was that I kept bumping into Athan when he walks into the cabin every mid-night, and he always seems to wear new clothes or wear a new perfume.
I don’t think he knows I notice, but he seems to be more daring every day. And I wonder if the rest knows about his late night routines especially Katherine who seems to be more moody since the doctor left the house.
Even Asher seems to have disappeared during the day and appear at night for dinner. Haden just walks into the woods every morning and comes back home for dinner.
Thing just seem to have been worse since I had a seizure and I prayed the doctor would arrive immediately to ease the tension in the cabin. And maybe some answers to my blocked memory would be provided.
Fortunately my prayers were answered when Doc. Stukkins arrived on the fourth day a day late from his initial promise.
Immediately the door was shut behind him he dropped his brief case on the sitting room table and opened it up bring out two stapled piece of A4 papers.
“Now let me get straight to the point. According to my research I found out that Cecile was clearly injected with vampire venom. But the surprising fact is that the venom is three times thicker than average vampire venom which means the venom in Cecile’s blood stream is that of an ancient vampire.”
“So what you’re telling us is that a thousand year old vampire would behind this?” Katherine voiced out.
“But why would they wish to turn her into a vampire, and I’m sure it’s not for a casual cause. There’s something bigger in all this.” Haden added.
“Yes there is something bigger in this because I also found Oltom rel in her blood. And that fact suggests that the culprit wants to remain unknown.”
“So the vampire wiped her memory with a mythical substance I’ve ever heard only in bed time stories” Asher joked, but no one was in the mood for laughing.
“So that vampire could be anybody or maybe someone I know. God knows this is the last place anyone would think of looking for me and it’s impossible of getting this place within just a few days of us arriving here.” I thought loud.
“That means, the person might have followed us here without us knowing and decided to attack when we were distracted.” Katherine added while looking at Haden.
“Isn’t there a potion I can use to gain my memories back?”
The doctor looked at me with a sad smile, “I’m sorry but there’s nothing I can give you to get them back. The toxin is so strong that anything I give you could make it worse, we’ll just have to wait for them to come back naturally.”
“Would I still have another seizure from the venom?”
“I’m not sure. This is the first time I have seen a human being converted with vampire venom, but if the process is the same as a vampire bite them I’m sure you would experience more seizures for a few weeks. But they would be less painful as the last.”
I nodded and took a deep breath. All that information was too much for me to handle and wondered if I was going to die before it was all over, but then I shook my head. Becoming a vampire was a whole new experience.
But then I felt it was absurd to have lost a particular part of my memory.
“Guys I just thought of something.” I paused and watched as they all looked at me with anticipation; it felt weird for them to anticipate something from me.
The fear of not knowing what happened to me was scary.
“What if the reason why I was attacked is linked to my real father? If I remember correctly, Asher, you told me that my father was a Vampire King and he was Lord Edward’s best friend.” He nodded in affirmation.
“What if they wanted to use me being a vampire for something, because I am indirectly vampire royalty?” After I said that out I realized how stupid that sounds.
Too much horror movies has gotten to my head and I’m predicting the situation as me being used as a mythical sacrifice to open a mythical door to all the power and riches in the world.
“You being related to your father is a baseless point. No one knew he had a child since he never married till he died. But that sacrifice part might be accurate.” Haden added while nodding his head like he got everything figured out.
Jerk. He could have at least said that a bit nicely, he just had to make it sound more worse and threatening.
“I have to take my leave I have a lot of patients to attend to at the hospital. Call me if anything happens, just make sure you don’t stress yourself and try to take as much rest needed for when next you have a seizure. Trust me you’ll need it.” Doctor Stukkins smiled at me and left the cabin.
While everyone was gloomy Athan was looking a bit red and sweaty.
“Athan are you alright?” Everyone looked at him from my statement and he nervously dismissed himself saying he just needed some fresh air.
On his way out he glared at me and slammed the door forcefully.
