Raven After a week of a rough investigation regarding Aaron Matias and with Rao's help, we managed to prove at it was a blackmail and that his files were hacked. Thankfully. This led me to upgrade more of my security team and updated all our electronics including emails and all electronic devices to have double security protection from hackers. I was thankful with Raoul's help. He fought this with me. I went home so late and tired that I need a hot shower. Raoul (12:09 AM): Long day. You okay? I smiled a bit at that message. Raven: Getting there. I should sleep. Raoul: Then sleep. I'll stay up. Raven: Why? Aren't you tired? Raoul: I don't know. Sleep, Raven. Good night. Dream something soft. I chuckled at that and before I knew it, I dozed off to sleep due to tiredness. For the past few weeks, Rao and I have been good friends. We both follow our contract so seriously and don't feel so awkward with each other anymore that I brought him to my parent's house for a lunch then later evening, a dinner with his family. "Good evening, Mr. and Mrs. Grey!" I greeted and bowed a bit. "Hi, Raven, dear," His mom hugged me. "So nice to finally meet you!" My eyes widened at her excitement. I smiled at that. "Mom.." Rao called. "What?" A stoic expression immediately changed in his mother's face with a raised brow. She faced me and she gotten soft again. "Sit down, dear. Hope you like italian cuisine?" "I do, ma'am.." I answered with a smile. "Ma'am?" She looks offended. Oh... "Call me mom." "Ma!" Rao stresed. I looked at Rao and looked at him to assure him that I'm not uncomfortable. "It's okay..." I whispered. He just looked at me and held my hand. His brothers are all out of the country about work so it's just us four. Raoul is like a mini version of his dad but he got his looks from his mother. Raoul and his dad just kept talking about work while his mom and I are talking about baking, travels, work, fashion, and more. I feel so light here. So welcomed... that my heart warmed up quickly. "Hope you didn't get tired of my mom's naughtiness." Raoul stated as we got inside of his car. "Nonsense! I like your mom." I smiled. "I think you heard a while ago that I'm going to have a private brunch with my colleagues?" He clarified if I did. "I did actually... am I coming?" I asked. He nodded. "It's on our contract?" He raised his brow like I don't have a choice to come with him. "I didn't say 'no, I will not come with you', Raoul." I chuckled and he smirked as he drove off. "Good night and hope you dream of me this time." He jokingly said before dropping me off at my condo. I looked at him cockingly. "You always tell me to dream of something soft... You look hard." I bit my lip and his lips parted at that due to shock. I laughed at his reaction. "Good night, Rao!" I said, still smiling as I went out of his car. "Text me when you get home will you?" I saw him smile a bit but he immediately bit his lower lip. "Will do madam." He winked. I took a quick shower and as I went to bed, my phone beeped. Raoul: Home. Goodnight, Rave. Dream of something hard then >:( I laughed at that but it died when I remembered that we're suddenly just using each other. I wonder if there's still moments from the both of us that is real. I sighed and dozed myself off to sleep. "Good morning, Ms. Raven! Someone is inside of your office!" My secretary greeted as she offered me my favorite coffee. "Already? This early?" I raised my brow and got my coffee. "Thanks for the coffee." I winked and she smiled. I went inside only to see Rao. "Really now?" I sarcastically said while smiling. He turned to face me and he smirked. "Good morning! I heard your company is hiring for a new head for corporate team?" I smirked back. "I am... Are you qualified enough?" Ethan was my company's head corporate lawyer but I fired him a year ago along with our divorce. I sat down in my chair and looked at the resume. Raoul Elijah Grey I rolled my eyes. This was unnecessary. The entire board already wanted him. I mean... he's Attorey Raoul Elijah Grey! He's the most brillant legal mind I'll ever deal with and most infuriating for sure. I looked at him and our eyes locked. He's in his charcoal-grey suit that looked like it had been tailored but God Himself because it fits him so well. Top buttom of his shirt is undone and his eyes are calm, sharp, and dangerously unreadable. "CEO Raven Buenavente," he called my attention, his lips curving with amusement. "Attorney Raoul Grey," I called in return. "Applying for the position even though you already own half the board's loyalty?" I smirked. "I believe in going through the motions." He smirked back. "Ah, so you're a romantic?" I smiled, teasingly. I earned a flicker of something in his eyes. Perhaps amusement. "You're the one who asked for an interview." He stated, seriously. "I'm just doing my part." I cleared my throat. I unconsiously tapped my pen on my desk. My posture crisp. "Okay then... Why do you want to work here, Raoul?" I asked, seriously this time. He didn't answer right away. "Because I firmly believe in this company," he answered, finally. "Try again." I said, not satisfied with his answer. "Because I didn't like watching you fight alone from the sidelines." I froze. Or maybe a kick to the heart. I tilted my head to the side a bit, forcing a smirk. "That sounds unprofessional, Mr. Grey." I murmured. "Then I'm in the wrong room." My eyes widened when he leaned forward, just enough. "But I'm not." He said. He slid a folder across the desk where I assume it's his official proposal, contracts, plans, and strategies for this company. His application is airtight but I didn't bother to take a look at the folder he placed on my desk. Didn't bother to take my eyes off of him. "You know people are going to talk. About us. If you take this job..." I said, softly. "They already talk," he replied, his voice softer. "At least now, I'll be close enough to remind you that you're not alone in this war." I blinked once, twice... Before looking at the folder and opening it or maybe it was just my reason because all of a sudden, my hands are shaking. "We'll be working closely now, if you're hired." I warned. "I was hoping you'd say that." He smirked. He stood up. Didn't offer his hand and turned around, about to leave my office. Before reaching for the doorknob, he took a quick glance at me. His eyes dark, voice low. "This wasn't fake, by the way." My brow raised at that. "What wasn't?" I asked, my throat tight. "Me choosing you."
