Third-person POV
As morning breaks, Cole wakes up all excited about departing for his first mission as a hunter. He quickly gets dressed and rushes down the stairs, where Mikael awaits him.
"Good morning, my boy. I can see you are really excited to start your first mission," Mikael says.
"I am, father. When do we leave?" Cole replies.
"Oh no, I will not be joining you yet, son, this journey to the school you will have to embark on by yourself. However, I will join up with you at a later stage," Mikael replies.
"I have packed some food for your journey. Take this silver sword with you, as I know some rogue werewolves are on the way there. Should you be attacked, you can slay them with the sword," Mikael says to Cole.
"Thank you, father. I will be wary of them. I shall slay them should I encounter any. Let me take my leave, it's a long way, and I am looking forward to reaching my destination," Cole replies.
Cole greets his father goodbye with the handshake of the hunters and takes his leave. It's a far journey, and Cole feels very confident because his father trusted and believed in him to make the journey on his own. On the way to the school, he will pass through one town where he can rest and get a meal before continuing on his journey. Cole gets on his motorcycle. It is old, but it works just fine. Mikael does not like spending too much on him. Mikael smiles as he sees Cole drive off. Cole is trained well, and he will be able to take on any werewolf or vampire if he needs to. He does have two Alpha bloodlines in his veins, after all.
The road is long and dusty as no one really travels to the old Vampire Kingdom. The Vampire Kingdom looks as if it has been suck in the eighteenth century as the King is very old-fashioned and does not like new technology in his kingdom. The creatures living in the Kingdom of the Vampires also live by the King's rules and do not use cellphones and stuff like that. There are hardly any cars or motorcycles. Only the king has a limo that he drives with when he needs to go to the big city.
Cole is wearing old jeans and an old leather jacket. He is aware that women find him very attractive. He is only sixteen but is already six feet tall. He knows he is taller and stronger than the average sixteen-year-old boy. He travels fast as he does not expect to see any other vehicle on the road. He is in a hurry to get to his destination. It is not that far away, but he likes to stay over in the town near the school to get his head clear and his story straight as he arrives in the town. He sees no one outside. It is as if they are all hiding from something or someone. He wonders who or what they are hiding from. He gets off his motorcycle, and it is nice to see a more modern world again. He only got out of the old Kingdom, where Mikael has his training academy for hunters once in a while. Sometimes he and some of the other hunters will sneak out to the city to dance and watch a movie when Mikael is not around. He is relieved to be out of the old Kingdom as he does not think he will return there again. He wants to see the world, the modern world. He wants to kill dangerous creatures and collect the bounty, as Mikael does. He is sick of being stuck in an old Kingdom with no technology. It is not fun, and he is still young. Cole knows Mikael is not his birth father as Mikael told him of the time the vampire killed his parents, and Mikael saved him from the vampire by killing it before it got to Cole. If Mikael were not in the vicinity, Cole also would have been dead now. He knows Mikael raised him as his own son, but he is not my birth father as a real father will not treat his own son the way Mikael treats Cole, but he is the best of the best, and Cole could not have asked for a better trainer.
As Cole gets off his motorcycle, he can hear a commotion coming from one of the shops. As a werewolf, Cole has supernatural hearing. He goes to investigate. He sees two young men beating on an older man and runs closer to help the older man. As he gets to them, the two young men leave the older one and turn to Cole. Werewolves can smell each other, and when Cole got close to them, they could catch his werewolf scent.
"Well, well! What do we have here? A young wolf, it seems." The one young man says.
"You got my scent. I see the both of you are wolves as well. You must be the legendary rogues I heard about." Cole replies.
"Ah, you are a smart young wolf, I see. I am glad our reputation is so far spread," The one rogue wolf replies.
"What are you doing to that man? Why are you beating him up?" Cole asks.
"We run this town boy, everyone here knows that, and they know every week we collect our fee." The one rogue replies.
"Fee? What fee are you talking about?" Cole asks the Rogue.
"The fee they pay us every week so we will leave them alone and not beat them up or kill them. As you can see, Mr. Smith here did not pay his fee. Luckily for him, it's his first payment miss, so we are only beating him up, but should he miss a payment again.. well. Let's say he will lose his head." The rogue replies.
"I have a great idea. Why don't you join us, boy, as there are only five of us left? You are a wolf as well, and we could always use more muscle. The town tried to hire someone not so long ago to get rid of us. We lost a few guys, but he failed in his task and those who hired him, well they are now permanently housed in the graveyard," The one rogue says to Cole.
"I will never join you. You are the scum of this earth and prey on weak and innocent people." Cole replies.
"Well, if you won't join us, I guess there is only one other alternative. We kill you." The one rogue says to Cole.
They rush Cole trying to punch him in the face, but he is too quick. He dodges their punches and counters them with punches of his own. He knocks both of them down.
"How did you do that, boy? How are you so quickly, and where did you learn to fight like that?" The one rogue asks Cole.
"I am not only a werewolf, you see, but a hunter as well. One of the best hunters trained me, and the two of you will be no match for me. If you want, you can try again. Maybe this time you can do better," Cole answers the Rogue.
They attack Cole again, but again he is too fast for them. He knocks the one rogue down again and kicks the other one sending him flying through the air, landing some distance away. The rogues look at each other in disbelieve and run into the woods behind the shops.
"Thank you so much, young man. Unfortunately, I don't have any money now, but please come into my shop. The least I can do is give you a free meal and something to drink," Mr. Smith says to Cole.
"Thank you, sir, that will be great. I am exhausted and hungry from my trip here," Cole replies.
"Please come to the hotel's bar at seven tonight, these rogues have been terrorizing this town for years now, and we, the town folk, can't take it anymore. But, unfortunately, we don't have anyone to go to for help as they know our every move around town and kill anyone who tries to leave to look for help. But, I promise you we will make it worth your while. We will pay you handsomely to kill these rogues." Mr. Smith says to Cole.
Cole thinks to himself... Well, it's not the primary mission I was sent to do, but aside mission and a few extra bucks can't hurt. It won't even take a lot of time to kill these five rogues, so I might as well stay a day or two. Mikael won't even know about it.
"No problem, I will see you at the bar at seven tonight," Cole answers Mr. Smith.
"Thank you, young man. You came as if you were sent to us. It must be a sign you will be the one to release us from these Rogues. By the way, I did not get your name yet?" Mr. Smith says to Cole
"My name is Cole, sir," Cole answers.
"Well, Cole, it's settled. Then we will see you at seven," Mr. Smith says to Cole and walks away.
That evening at seven, Cole went to the hotel's bar. It was full of the town's people. Everybody was talking about how Cole beat up the two rogues as Mr. Smith had to tell the story to everyone in town. As Cole walked in, he was greeted by loud cheers from everyone there. The mayor of the town got up and addressed everyone once the cheers eventually stopped.
"Here is the man of the hour. He beat up two of the Rogues without a sweat, our hero Cole!" The mayor says.
Everyone cheers loudly again.
"Cole, we, the people of Pinewood, owe you great gratitude. You stood up against those rogues and saved Mr. Smith from a terrible beating. He mentioned you told the Rogues you are a hunter. Is that true?" The mayor says to Cole.
"That is true, sir. I am indeed a hunter, trained by the legendary hunter Mikael himself." Cole answers.
"Mikael trained you? Then you must be one of the best as Mikael's reputation is known all over the world. We tried numerous times to hire him before but were unsuccessful in getting hold of him, so we went with a lessor hunter, and let's say it did not go well for us. You see, they cut all our phone lines and destroyed the power to our cell phone tower, so it's such a big risk every time sending someone to find help as the rogues watch our every move and kill anyone who tries to leave town to find a hunter. We were just lucky that one time our guy alluded them, but in the end, we ended up paying a bigger prize with a lot of lives lost. Please, you got to help us, take this bank card. There is more than enough money in the account to last you for years. As soon as you return after killing those rogues, I will give you the bank card's pin number, and you can withdraw all the money or use the card as you wish. Just kill those Rogues for us." The mayor says to Cole.
"You have yourself a deal, Mr. Mayor. All I need now is the location of their hideout." Cole answers the mayor and takes the bank card from him.
"According to some people, they hide out in a cabin to the west deep inside the woods, but we don't know for sure as everyone here is too scared to go into the woods." The mayor replies.
"Don't worry, Mr. Mayor, I will go in that direction, and once I get their scent, I will track them quickly. Let me go and get some sleep now. I will start my mission at first light," Cole replies and takes his leave.
