Daniel had fallen. As he laid sprawled in the mud pit he was calling a backyard today he thought back on how this had even happened. His knee had wrenched in the most awkward position as his cane had sunk into the mud in the yard. The new pain shooting up his thigh and back down his ankle told him something was very wrong here. Despite his trying, it was too slick to use his cane to get back up out of this mess and while he had crawled a fair distance, he was too angry at himself to continue at the moment. He hated being weak, hated that he was likely going to need a doctor, maybe surgery. This day couldn’t get any worse. Before he could start his low crawl back towards the house again a dog started l*****g his face. Not just any dog, the neighbor’s dog. Damn! Daniel looked forward to
