Episode 7
Emily walked beautifully among the mountain as she jumped from one mountain to the other avoiding the waters, she seemed to be having a swell time, picking flowers and chewing stuff found on the floor, Emily is a young Cougar and the only daughter of Sam George, he is one of the Strongest Cougar in the Pack and a physician of the blue valley pack as well as the only existing alchemist. Emily was humming and dancing among the mountains till she perceived this strong smell from a distance which made her stop quickly while she sniffed the air to be sure it was not human, this particular smell was different as she put her head down trying to trace where that smell was coming from, she could not even tell if it was an awful or good smell but to her, it was a strong choking smell she has never come across before through her period of growth and learning.
Emily was unknowingly crossing her limit in search of what it was she was perceiving, she walked a long distance but was yet to find anything, only that the smell became stronger and more prominent, Emily being the curious cat moved ahead and even faster as she could perceive it like it was beneath her nose, she was already racing as far as she could with her breath becoming heavy, Emily was not yet fast for a Cougar but for her age and gender, she was cool.
"What is that smell?"
She said to herself as she looked distanced from where she was standing, she could already see the very spot where the smell was coming from but this time she lowers her pace and walked instead with her gaze fixed on the spot, on getting there she found the body of Ava and as she sets her eyes on her she quickly jumped back, Emily could already detect immediately that she was a particular animal that has not shifted but could not recognize which animal it was if Ava had shifted she would not know which animal it was still, she moved backwards step by step in shock as she ran back to the pack to call on her Father and tell everyone about what she had seen, Emily was terrified and she could not wait to get home already, she never realised she had gone this far in search of that animal.
"Father!"
Before reaching the Pack she was already calling on her Father as she raced like never before that she did not realise people were looking at her.
"Father!"
She finally found him sitting on a Couch with his eyes fixed on a book as he shifted it a little from his face and looked deeply at Emily which was when she realized what she had done.
Emily has been warned several times about her unnecessary shifting attitude, though she would have shifted back into her body when she was done in the mountains and would not jump into the city like that but she got carried away by what she had found and could not wait to get home.
"How many times will I have to remind you of that Emily"
George said to her, his voice was low and hoarse, he looks very young to have Fathered Emily but he was her father for the striking resemblance can not be underrated and thrown under the carpet, Emily pouted after changing into her body and you would wish she had always stayed that way for she is a young child within six and seven of age with so much energy and questions in her eyes, she looks chubby with a very dark heavy long hair that falls back to her hip, quite heavy for a child but she got that from her late Mother, yes Emily just has her Father George just like he just had her too, they looked very much comfortable in a classic middle-class building and a farm behind it, actually a garden with Emily's Mother's picture hung everywhere in the living room.
"Father I found something just at the entrance Mountain to the pack!"
She announced what she could not wait to tell George but instead George was infuriated at the fact that she left the Pack to the entrance Mountain which she had been warned against before.
"How dare you wander that far again Emily"
he said again and as if his voice has a static pitch, he was angry but did not raise his voice at her.
"I am sorry Father, it's the smell"
she simply said.
"It was so strong and I wanted to know what it was"
she added.
"What if something had happened to you, Emily?"
He asked even when he was not expecting an answer as he walked out in the cold with his Coat on.
"Where are you going, Father?"
Emily asked her Father who seem to be wearing a long face ever since she had recognized him to be her father but he had never been mean to her which is an irony, he talk less and looks bothered all the time.
"In search of your newfound specie, are you kidding me?"
He said as Emily jumped to his side knowing she should lead the way. They were walking towards the mountain and Emily already feels awful for walking that distance, she held her hands behind her with her face dull, she can not tell her Father they need to shift, he seems to be against that all the time and she wondered if he was not proud of who he was, Emily grew tired as she wished she could bring that up to him but it already a lost fight since they have walked on longer distance so she endured until they got there, before getting to the spot George could also perceive the smell and to him it was a familiar smell unlike to Emily who does not know what she was about the meeting.
"A werewolf!"
He muttered almost to himself than any other person as he hastened up because he could not wait to get to the spot, he kept sniffing the air to be sure of his predictions as they eventually got to the spot and found the lifeless Ava laying there. George knew immediately that she needed them to save her life when he checked her pulse and finds out she was still alive. George quickly shifted into a Cougar and he happens to be a strong and huge Cougar Emily looked at him in astonishment as he removed his coat, the borne breaking was loud and tough compared to what she had ever experienced, George carried Ava on his shoulder and walked towards the Pack as Emily also excitedly did her little shift and followed him.
The journey back home was faster than when
they were heading to the mountain to get Ava, George seems to be hiding the lady on his shoulder as he passed the routes where they would not be seen.
"Father, what is she?"
Emily asked just after they got home and played her gently on the soft bed, she looked peaceful like she was going through nothing but Ava was weak as she could hear everything everyone around her was saying but can not make a movement or even reply. George did not hear Emily ask her question or he had just decided to throw deaf ears.
Emily turned around towards her Father.
"Father do you know what she is?"
She asked with her raising her head to hear from him.
"Yes"
That was the only reply he gave her as Emily looked at him in astonishment.
"Are you going to treat her?"
Emily asked and George who was cleaning his hands with a napkin stopped and turned around.
"Of course Emily, that is my job"
George answered as he went towards Ava again, Emily stood above her examining what her Father was doing while George tried to check every part of Ava to see if she was hurt, surprisingly to him there was no cut anywhere except her flawless skin but if George had known her before he would know that Ava is gradually fading. George sighed and seem to be out of ideas about what was wrong with her but he felt the duty to help her and make her survive as he covered her with a blanket and left the room while Emily who was standing over her head looked at her deeply and fell in love with her beautiful face, she kissed her on the forehead slowly and followed her Father behind.
"Father, is she going to die?"
She asked but George said nothing in reply to that as she asked another question not relenting.
"Do you intend to hide her fr everyone?"
She asked her father again.
"I do not intend to hide her from anyone but I am not planning to inform anyone about her stay here until she is fine"
George answered simply.
"Father!'
Emily said again.
"No more questions Emily,"
he said to her quickly as he was busy bringing down books from the shelf and there goes the book he was searching for owned by his late wife, he dusted it and was far away from listening to Emily who was busy questioning him again. The title of the book was printed boldly on the cover so that he could trace the lines with his fingers.
"The Wolves,"
he said to himself as he left the shelf side immediately and went into his room where he can get full custody of the book as he was eager to find the antidote to reviving Ava
