A Contract Signed

Harper didn't even bother to think anything through. She had confidence in what she was doing and she was actually doing this for her father. "I do not want children," Caleb repeated again but Harper didn't bother responding to him. There was nothing Caleb could say or do at that point because Harper had finally made up her mind. He brought out his document. Harper also did the same and they both gave it to the officer. Once the officer issued the marriage license, Caleb turned his back and left, leaving Harper. "Why so rude," she murmured to herself and followed him immediately. "Now that you would be staying in my house, you might as well follow Nana home to know exactly where I stay. I have a meeting to attend to right now." "Um... Mr Wilson I need to get my belongings." Harper reminded Caleb but instead he snubbed her. "Get into the car," he ordered. "Before I forget," he called her back. "I would like for us to keep our marriage a secret to non-family members." Harper said yes, to all of these because of what is ahead of her and she is also glad that she will be out of her step mom and sister's way. Despite the fact that it was still her home, at the moment it doesn't look like a home to her ever since her father became sick. She had hated her father for abandoning her mom for years now. But no matter how much she hated him, it can't stop her from trying to save him from his illness. "That reminds me, let's exchange numbers, in case I need to reach out to you." Harper took Caleb's phone and saved her number on it and did the same on hers. They both entered the car and Grandma Judy hugged Harper immediately and thanked her for accepting to make her the happiest Grandma. Harper quickly wiped the little tears that dropped on Grandma Judy's eyes and gave her a big smile. Caleb fastened his seat belt before pulling out the marriage license. "Happy now Nana," he said as he tossed it over her legs without looking at her. "I will drop you both along the crossroad and James will pick you both and take you home. I'm already late for my meeting." James happens to be one of the body guards of the Davis family and Caleb's right hand man. "No Caleb, at least take us home and spend quality time with your wife. Everything is not about work, just take a break." Grandma Judy said, not happy with Caleb's decision. Harper remained mute not wanting to interrupt them. "Nana I have done what you asked me to do but I can't stop my work just because I got married. I can't do that." Caleb said, as he started the car. "Stubborn child, you just do what is on your mind without considering someone else's feelings." Grandma Judy knows that her grandson won't give in entirely to the whole marriage issue and she is not planning on forcing him any further because she knows that he won't listen to her. He has married Harper and that's all that matters. Caleb has a lot of things going on with him, he knows that he is dying slowly and he can't bear to let his Nana know about that. Caleb has been suffering from cancer for a while now and he just has a few months to live. He has to make the best out of these few months without worrying about anything. His cousin brothers are all after his wealth and what he has worked for but he is not about to lose any of that to anyone. He kept his distance from women because he doesn't want his feelings to come between his work and his relationship with women in the past didn't go well. They all want him for his money and now he has decided to keep a low profile, that way he can walk freely and live his life, not until now. After driving for about ten minutes, he pulled up by the roadside before coming down from the car and tossing the keys over to James, "Take them home," he said and started walking towards the Rolls Royce parked Infront of him. Grandma Judy tried to stop him but instead he turned a deaf ear and entered the Rolls Royce. She watched him as he drove off at a high speed. "Annoyingly arrogant!, if you like, keep running but no matter what, you will eventually come back and be with your wife. You can't stay with me in the same house without having a wife," Grandma Judy muttered under her breath bitterly. Caleb was the one man no one messes with, he does his things calmly and doesn't show off in any way. He puts those against him in their place and doesn't feel sad for doing what is wrong. He only knows his work and nothing more. Grandma Judy is also an important figure in his life. No amount of anger could get her grandson back. "Grandma Judy, it's fine just let it be." Harper said while trying to calm her down. "I'm fine dear," she responded. “I would like for you to call me Nana, now we are family.” She said as she held Harper's hands. “Alright Nana, anything you want, I will do it for you.” Grandma Judy couldn't help but smile at the word, Nana, from Harper's lips. "I can't wait to show you everything at home, Harper dear. Caleb is actually a sweet boy but stubborn at times but I'm sure you will like him." Grandma Judy assures her. Grandma Judy will do everything within her powers to ensure that Caleb doesn't bully Harper because she knows her grandson too well and whatever he is doing now is just pretending. He definitely has a lot of things planned out for Harper and Grandma Judy would not sit down and let anything scatter their relationship.
