POV: Grayson
What is going on here? I was all set in my cage, ready for this curse's beastly effects. Then the guards open the door, letting us out seconds before midnight. Emery just stood there looking like a deer caught in headlights.
She's a very plain-looking girl with brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing worn, ripped jeans, a T-shirt, a black floral bomber jacket, and mixed-matched pink and blue Converse. Something about her scent stirs something unknown within me. Dash, my wolf, hasn't been able to stop gushing like a lovesick pup since she kissed us.
I am very shocked that a simple kiss from her could tame our wolves' beastly manners. No less by an omega girl. Who is this omega?
Many pack members gasp as Tristin and I walk past them to our office. I couldn't tell you the last time anyone saw me past midnight. "Who is this and what is going on?" Tistin asks demanding answers as soon as everyone is settled into the office.
"This is Emery, and the moon goddess sent me to fetch her," Devon explains the entire story of how the goddess sent him to retrieve Emery, who is the key to breaking our curse. I wonder why it worked? Why her? She's just an omega.
"She has to kiss you every day for one year and mate on the last day." Devon continues. Dash wags his tail at the sound of mating the omega. I know we like to f**k around but I have no desire to sleep with her.
She doesn't meet my standards. She is so plain. Her shoes don't match. She certainly doesn't know how to kiss. She is not my type.
"So you're going to break our curse? What did Devon promise you in exchange for doing this? I'm sure you have a mate waiting for you." Dash growls at me for mentioning her mate. What the hell? "Yeah, Dev, how much is this costing us? I mean, surely there were other girls?" Tristin asks.
Emery snorts. I arch an eyebrow at her reaction. I notice Devon's smirk making me curious. "What makes you assume I'm not doing this out of the goodness of my heart? You may want to save your judgment for after you've read the book. I don't want to do this. Unlike you, not everyone was born with a silver spoon in out mouths. Desperate times call for desperate measures." Emery snaps.
My parents' jaws dropped at her response. I'm left in utter shock. No f*****g way an omega just said that to me. "She's a snarky one." Devon snickers. "Who do you think you are?" Tristin snaps. "How can an omega tame an alpha's wolf?" I growl.
"Hey, I know your egos are wounded, but calm down. She is your one chance at breaking this god forsaken curse, so suggest you two play nice." Dad growls back. "Fine." We say simultaneously. "Good. Now your mother and I think the three of you should get married. You can divorce in a year." Dad says.
"WHAT?!" Emery, Tristin, and I say simultaneously in shock. "No one said anything about marriage. That wasn't the deal." Emery says. "Yeah, Mom, Dad, when I told you about her, you never mentioned it." Devon is surprised by our parents' choice.
"There wasn't time, and we weren't even sure it would work." Mom says and turns to Tristin and me. "I want you both to marry her. The pack will wonder why she is suddenly here and why she is staying close to you both." Mom says.
I groan. She's right. If the pack were to see this, who knows what they would think or do? An Omega girl taming us makes us look weak. We can't have that. "Tristin?" I mind-link my brother to get his thoughts on this. "I don't know. She makes us look weak." He sighs. "Maybe we could make it look like a treaty marriage. We just signed the treaty with the New Moon pack a few months ago. It's not that far of a stretch." Tristin shrugs.
"Boys, if you're done discussing, we'd like your answer," Mom says. "Oh, is she getting down on one knee and proposing too?" I ask sarcastically. Emery smirks and grabs two pens off my desk. I watch her every move as she walks around the desk towards Tristin and me. She wouldn't dare to do what I think she's going to do.
"I'm not so keen on this marriage either, but I'm willing to do whatever I have to do to get through this year peacefully." She says and does the last thing I ever thought she would do. She gets down on one knee, holding the pens out to us. "Will you marry me?" She snorts, trying to hold a straight face.
I can't believe she just did this. Dad starts laughing. "Well, boys, I think you have a keeper. She certainly has the right amount of attitude to deal with you both." I grab the pen from her. "You're not funny," I say, glaring at her. She stands up on her feet and shoves the other pen to Tristin's chest, only to pull her hand away quickly as if he slapped it. Strange...
"Fine, we will marry her." I agree. "I'll have a contract drawn up. I don't want this to get any messier than it should be." Tristin says. I agree, this should move a smoothly as possible.
"Excellent! I will show you to your room. You must be exhausted." Mom drags Emery away. "I don't want any funny business. I know you two don't like her, but I expect you to treat her respectfully." Dad scolds us. We've angered him by the way we acted towards Emery.
"Dad, we know. She is breaking our curse and should be treated gratefully for it." Tristin says. Ever the diplomat he is. Tristin will always keep the peace before anything else. "Good, now get some sleep, you two have a busy day tomorrow." Dad leaves with Devon.
Sleep? It feels weird to be around past midnight. I'll actually get to sleep in my own bed. "Do you feel like she's hiding something?" Tristin asks. "Who, Emery?" I ask. "Yeah." My brother nods his head.
"I don't know. There is something about her." I agree there is something off about Emery. I don't know if she's hiding something or what it is. She could have just been nervous. If she is hiding something, we'll find out what it is
