Chapter 50 - Jane
Zean hasn’t left my side since he came back with the rest of the guards. I’m currently sitting back in the infirmary. Zean has fallen asleep on one of the chairs. Karia, the healer, has ordered me to rest. She thinks I’m in shock, because I won’t say anything. But shock isn’t the reason I’m not responding. It’s despair. My heart feels like it has been ripped from my chest. Seeing Kadis’ face twisted in such cruelty took me back to the night I had my nightmare. The look on his face as he walked towards me, licking the blood (gag!) from his fingers. The evil smile on his face. I could see it in his eyes. He enjoyed seeing me afraid of him. He looked just like he did in my nightmare. And still, I didn’t believe he was a demon. I thought my inability to move was my body refusing because of
