Chapter 15 - Kadis

1343 Words
I can’t take my eyes off of her. When she walked out of her apartment building, I was struck speechless by her beauty. The yellow dress she wore dances around her legs as she moves and it’s airy fabric teases me every time I stand near her. Brushing up against me, it tempts me with the secret of what it is hiding from my eyes. It’s taking all my self control not to ditch the restaurant and take her somewhere more intimate. I go through the motions of interacting with the host and the waiter, but all my senses are locked onto her. I can sense she’s worried that she is not good enough to be here. It doesn’t take a mind reader to see that. "Kadis, I appreciate you wanting to take me somewhere nice, but this isn't me. I think I should tell you what has been going on in my life." I can see tears start to form before she can duck her head and I quickly stand up and go crouch beside her. I take both of her hands in mine. She tries to hide her face, but I won’t let her. “Jane, I know something has been going on. If you really want to leave, we can. I didn’t mean for you to feel bad, I really just wanted to take you out for dinner. Emil is the best chef around and you deserve the best. Just give the word and we’ll go.” Her internal struggle is mirrored on her face.  A tear slips out of the corner of her eye and I gently wipe it away with my thumb. She tilts her head, resting her cheek in the palm of my hand, closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. “I’m sorry Kadis. It’s been a rough week.” Her voice is low and I have to lean closer to hear what she is saying. “I’ve been selfish, I used you. I didn’t want to say anything because I wanted to forget my horrible life for a while, and now I feel bad for not telling you the truth.” She opens her eyes and looks deep into mine. “I don’t want you to think that I’m something I’m not.” “Jane, I told you before. I want to get to know you. How you are, not what you think I want. As for using me, I’m glad, because I was able to get you on a date. You can’t use someone who is willing to be the distraction you need.” She closes her eyes, leans her head into my hand once more and takes another deep breath. “How about this. We can leave now and go somewhere quiet where we can talk. Or we enjoy a meal, with no worries about anything right now, a distraction as you put it, then we go somewhere quiet and you can tell me anything you want.” I guide her to look at me again. “I promise Jane, nothing you say or tell me will change my mind.” “Okay.” Sniffing, she gives me a small smile. “We’ll have something to eat first, after all you must have gone to the end of time to get us this table.” “Only if you want to, Jane. I won’t be mad if you want to leave.” I search her face. “I’m okay now. We can eat first. To be perfectly honest, I haven’t eaten all day.” I hold her gaze a few moments longer. Satisfied that she is okay with staying, I give her a smile. “Well now, we can’t have that.” I let her go and sit back into my seat. Antonio materializes to my left to give us menus, then leaves again. Jane flushes in embarrassment as he hands her the menu, but Antonio is a professional. He won’t make any comment or indication of what he may have witnessed or seen. “You must think me silly.” Jane states after Antonio leaves. “Not at all, Jane. I think you are human, with human wants, problems, and needs.” “Thank you Kadis.” “Now my dear, what is it you feel like eating.” -------------------- The air is cool as we wander through the park near her apartment. The night has fully fallen and the stars are just starting to come out. The park is one of the few places you can see them here in this part the city, and Jane stops to gaze up at them. She hasn’t said anything about her issue yet and dinner went on as if her small breakdown never happened. As she’s looking up to the sky, I notice her rub her arms and shiver. Taking my suit jacket off, I place it on her shoulders. She wraps it around herself like a blanket. I do have to admit it is quite big on her. It engulfs her tiny frame and her yellow dress peeks out from underneath it. It makes her look vulnerable and fragile.  And so damn cute! “My friend died a few days ago.” She says as she continues to watch the stars. “She had no one else. Her husband died years back, and her son took his own life about a year ago. I decided to claim her as my family, but with that I also claim her expenses. With her death and the cost of her funeral, on top of my medical bills from my episode in the library and the lawyer bills to claim her estate, I have been trying to avoid reality.” Sighing, she turns to me. “That is where you come in. I used you to forget about my life. You, the gorgeous model, who for some reason asked me for coffee. But that’s not fair to you, is it?” I stay silent, and she looks back to the sky. “I thought I was going to drown in debt, but I received news today that changed everything. My friend made me her beneficiary. I now have enough to pay for everything, as well as enough to take a year off of work for my schooling. But I don’t know if I can be who you think I am.” Burying her face into my jacket, she takes another deep breath. Listening to her story, I feel that I can use the situation. I can use it to get closer to her. To instill trust. Her guard is down. She still has her head down and I gather her in my arms. She wraps her arms around me and I squeeze her tight. She finally relaxes and melts against me. My body instantly reacts and desire runs through my blood. I breathe deeply to calm my lust. I have to take it slow, I have to be the rock she can rely on. I pull away from her slightly and tilt her face up. Her eyes are sad and defeated. An odd sensation rises in my chest. I’m not sure what it is, but I need to focus on the task at hand, so I ignore it. I control myself from ravaging her mouth, and gently place a kiss on her forehead. Pulling her close, I rub her shoulders and back in comfort, before holding her tight again. I don’t know how long we stood there, but I finally felt her stir and I step back. "Jane, I'm sorry for your loss. You have every right to try and take a few moments for yourself." I boost my aura as I ask her, "Tell me, what do you want right now?" As she had done before, I can see her struggle with her answer, but she's emotionally tired and I feel her lose the fight. Her eyes go wide as the answer slips out of her mouth. "You, Kadis. I want you." I smile down at her in satisfaction. Her face begins to flush in embarrassment and she tries to duck her head. I pull her close, my hands running down her back to press her to me. To Helis with going slow! My body flares with heat and lust. I give in to the temptation and capture her mouth with mine as one last thought goes through my head before I lose myself to my desire. I have you now, Jane!
