I’ve been eating for a week at that goddamn McKindlies looking for my doll, breakfast lunch and dinner, I never see her, I’ve even gone in a couple of times, but I’m a busy monster I don’t have the luxury to be sitting there all day, though I am strongly considering going in and staying there till they kick my bony ass out.
I throw the last of my scotch down my gullet, thinking of her is driving me crazy I need to see her, I keep drawing her lips, but I keep getting’ em wrong, and the colour what colour were her lips, goddamn this woman.
Another week goes by I’m sick of this damn place, this is my last resort, I walk in the doors order myself breakfast, I’ve ordered nearly everything on the menu by now, I eat my food and read up on some clients, every few hours during the day I leave my cozy booth at the back of the restaurant to get myself another coffee, as day turns to evening my coffee turns to rum, I’m sick of this place.
The booze suck here I couldn’t get drunk even if I wanted to, I’ve been here for hours, looking out the window I watch cars drive by and a shadier crowd shows up, a real sleazy bunch now both monsters and humans, mostly humans, god I hope my doll doesn’t entertain this crowd, she wouldn’t be worth it if she did. As fast as that thought entered my skull it left, thinking of those perfect lips, trying to recall her voice I rest my head in my arms on this table.
I’m ignored by everyone here, not even those sleazy humans bother me, it makes it far too easy for me to fall asleep here in my booth. Monster’s and humans know better then to approach a skeleton, we’re not the average monster.
I can’t tell if I’m dreaming or if someone is trying to talk to me, either way I keep hearing someone say Susie? Maybe? I’m probably just dreaming right, someone taps my arm now I know I’m not dreaming, I stay perfectly still, awake but I’m pretending I’m sleeping, “excuse me” I hear, “hey, get up” the woman says again tapping my shoulder, this time though I got her, in one smooth motion I’ve taken her wrist and bent her over my table I was just sleeping on.
“Ain’t anyone ever teach ya’ its rude to disturb someone while their sleepin’?” I ask the employee I have bent over my table, I’m standing over her with her arm pinned behind her back, she’s got a cute little body, though I’m not sure she’s my type.
“Ain’t anyone ever teach you it’s rude to grab a lady like this?” she barks at me unable to move or do anything but be helpless, I look over at her other gawking coworkers and manager, the restaurants empty but me and an old couple looking over very concerned, guess I was asleep longer then I realized.
I sigh seeing I’ve caused a seen with what few people there are, I let her wrist go letting her get up on her own, she looks up at me, oh that face my soul starts a pumpin’ I found my doll and her face is twisted in anger beautifully.
“On second thought” I say before she can step away, I take her arm, with my free hand I reach in my pocket and pull out my wallet “I’d like to buy her, how much?” I ask her manager, a funny little man who can’t find his words right away.
“I umm, she’s not purchasable” he stumbles with his words some more “she’s not on the market yet” the funny little man with the funny little accent explains.
I look down at my doll, “really?” I ask with a big smile, she’s lookin’ up at me with disgust and tiny bit of fear, “well I’m sure you can make an exception tonight” letting my doll go I take out $300 bucks and hand it to her manager, he looks at me in awe nods his head frantically and sends his other employees into the back were they belong.
Turning back, I see the look of shock still spread across my dolls face, smiling down at her I have her sit across from me in the booth, can’t help but smile at her, she keeps a calm and disgusted look on her face.
“Here’s something fun” I break the silence not that I minded it I feel she did though, she still doesn’t look at me, “this is your first time being bought and this is my first time buying a McKindlie employee” I hope my doll says something anything, I just want to hear that voice of hers while watchen’ her lips move.
“I doubt that” she answers still not lookin’ at me, she’s staring out the window I don’t care for that, I rather her look at me, only me.
“It’s the truth” I stand calmly I see her tense as her eyes try to fallow me around the table while she stares out the window, “true I have bought a number of woman, but only woman that monsters of my stature would grace themselves with” I sit next to her un-touchingly pushing her closer and closer to the window.
My doll looks up at me with her beautiful doll like eyes, “am I supposed to be flattered you would grace yourself with me?” she asks, so stern, so precious.
Smiling down at her I place my arm behind her resting it on the back of the booth, “I think we got off on the wrong foot here doll,” I give my hand “Damoduran Deimos, you can call me Duran” I wink at her.
She waits a moment putting her slender flesh covered hand in my calloused hand “Aileen Maxine” she says giving my hand a firm squeeze and shake, like a proper shake should be.
“Aileen” I say to myself “I like it” I tell her honestly, she actually smiles too a shy smile putting her hand in front of her lips and bowing her head just slightly as she giggles, it was perfect.
“So, Duran have you found that special something or someone to make everything worth while?” she asks shyly.
Still smiling I grit my teeth, it’s takin’ everything in my soul not to push her against the window and take her here and now, no, I keep telling myself Aileen deserves it to be special, in an actual bed and when she’s not bought when she’s actually mine. “I can’t say for sure; I think I’m getting closer though” I wink again.
