“Come to my office.” Those are the words she expected him not to tell her, and yet he did before he passed by her and Gab. He headed the elevator and never look back at her. She noticed her knees were trembling and her palms came dampen. “Are you okay, Sofia?” Gab asked her again. “You look really pale. You’ve been like that since yesterday.” Now Gab was really worried about her. She took a very deep sigh and looked at her. “I-I am.” She faked a smile and tried hard to stand straight. She has to follow him now. “I-I’ll go ahead.” Gad just nodded at her. She waved her hand as she walked away and entered the other elevator to go upstairs. Facing the door of his office making her knees boneless. As if she will fall on the floor breathing heavily. Her heart was thudding. She’s about to be soak with her insanity. “Are you going to stand there forever, Ms. Pollyana?” She heard his cold voice from inside. “Oh, my God!” Demire can hear her from inside, since he’s focusing to her. His senses and abilities are hundred times higher than mortals. He can hear things from a very far distance, if he removed the ear piece, he used to block his ears and avoid many sounds around him. If he wouldn’t use such of these things from human then he will be bothered with their noises. Surely, he couldn’t manage his works well and wouldn’t have Goddard as his own company. She sighed again before she knocked her door. “C-can I come in?” She realized late about her stupid question. “Stupid!” Demire whispered, “As what I said, you come to my office.” He shook his head for disbelief about her. Completely insane! He fixed his coat before she could finally open the door. Sofia entered his room with her soul slowly leaving her mortal body. “G-good morning, M-Mr. Goddard.” At least she managed to spoke things but cannot act normal as what Lily told her yesterday. She’s avoiding his gaze, trying to distract herself to some things in his room. His cologne scent emitting inside his room, that was an unusual manly scent she ever smelled. Couldn’t guess what cologne he’d been using. “Have a seat, Ms. Pollyana.” “N-no, I’ll be okay here.” He sighed exasperatedly. He studied the papers on top of his table. “Well, Sofia… about yesterday…” “Oh, please, Sir!” She doesn’t want to hear anything what he wanted to say. She kneeled on the floor. “Please, Mr. Goddard, don’t fire me. I badly need this job.” Her eyes went teary. She cannot breathe. “Please, I’m begging you.” Demire was surprised of what she did. He stood up and walked towards her. “What are you doing?” He faced her with tangled lines on his forehead. Frowning. “Did I order you to kneel down?” “Please, Mr. Goddard, don’t fire me. I was really in need, and the salary here—” “Stand up!” “Please…” She sticks her palms, begging him. “Please…” How could she ended up begging him not to be fire? She had the investment in the coffee shop with Lily. Basically, she has money left in her. But she doesn’t want to withdraw it. She cannot afford to lose the shop she built together with Lily. She needs this job not just for her sake. How could she live in the apartment that Lily only was paying? That was embarrassing of her. “Please, I’m begging you!” “Stupid! Stand up! I’m not firing you!” He massaged his nape because of her. She’s stressing him. Since Sofia entered his office, he never had calm and peaceful office. She often bothering his mind, thinking about her outside his office. “Y-you’re not firing me?” She tilted her face to look at him. His face was serious and poker. She couldn’t read any emotions from him. He walked back to his study table and took some papers on it. “Stand up,” he said, he’s way more sounds good than he was snarling yesterday. He handed her the papers. He secretly gulped and wanted to wipe her tears. He doesn’t want to see her crying, she’s good when she’s smiling but he decided to hide that thought on the back of his mind. “Well, you ruined the day yesterday but still something good things happened after.” She stood up and wiped her tears away. She held the paper and check it. She does understand nothing from it. “W-what is it?” she asked confused and faced him. “Seriously?” She gulped before she nodded. Demire couldn’t believe her. He’d hissed. He went back to his swivel chair and leaned his back on it. “Akiko Lamberg, called me yesterday. We closed the deal. That was the biggest deal I got again since the past decade, I thought I wouldn’t get it because of what happened and yet, he’s the one who offered me about the contract. And…” He asked me not to fire you. He sighed. “Well, you’re not fired, get me a coffee please.” She didn’t react. It was just she has no any idea how she should react of what he said. “You should thank him,” he said that made her confused. He probably fired her now for having the thought she’ll ruin everything he worked hard, if he didn’t “W-why?” “Just thank him. Tsk!” He cannot explain what he feels right at this moment. “I’m waiting for my coffee, Sofia.” Her heart felt a sudden relieve. She’s not fired. He didn’t fire her. A smile drew on her lips and immediately nodded to him. “Noted, Mr. Goddard.” Seemed her body was filled with so much energy. All of her worries a few minutes ago suddenly disappeared. Thank God! She made him a coffee full of love and sincere apology about yesterday. “Great!” she mouthed after tasted the coffee she made. She went back to his office and placed the coffee on top of his table. “Thanks!” he said without even giving her a look. He’s busy reading the documents on his laptop. Sofia stared at him confused. Did he really thanked her? Is she still facing Demire Goddard? Or was she just dreaming when he thanked her? Oh, what a nice dream after all. “What?” His face grimaced. “Do you nee anything?” Then she realized she remained standing there for almost five minutes. “N-nothing, Mr. Goddard.” She secretly smiled before she left his office.
