Sofia’s head was aching the morning she woke up with her friend Lily sleeping on the floor and Gab sleeping the single couch. They were deeply drunk last night. She headed the small bathroom in their apartment and dampen herself with the cold water. While she was scrubbing her skin with a soap, a sudden thought of her came up. She might be drunk and really dizzy last night but she was completely aware of the familiar scent she smelled, is just that she was not sure if that was him or was just her dream. After their first kiss, she learned to be friends with him after work. The dinner last night was not ending there but happened trice the past two weeks. It maybe not enough days to understand and meet him but she could tell him as a good person. But she has to admit, he was a bit strange still. When they were work, he was the bossy and strict boss.
She sighed and rinsed herself. After shower she prepared herself to go out and buy their breakfast. Today is holiday, so they didn’t make wrong decision when they drink last night and had headache now.
She took a medicine for headache and went out to buy something for the two girls. She jogged to the bakery. Holding a brown paper bag on her left, jogging back to the apartment, she paused to see a man sitting on the bench beside the small park. “Mr. Goddard?” She reached towards him astonish. “Mr. Goddard! Yes, it’s you!” she exclaimed in surprise to know it was really him.
Demire looked up to face her. “Yes,” he simply said.
“What are you doing here? I mean to this village. Do you have some business here?” She always that talkative to make sure her question has never ending. She gazed at him, studying his current situation. He’s wearing a black leather jacket, white T-shirt and trouser.
“I have nothing here.”
Sofia seated down beside him. “So, what are you doing here?”
Demire wanted to pinch her. He never been as obvious as he was whenever he was trying to impress her. He sent her home last night that is why he learned the way to their house. Is not that obvious he wanted to visit her because it’s been two days since the last time he saw her? And that he missed her. No matter what he did, she’ll always that freak in front of him. Sofia was confusedly facing him. He sighed. “I visited a friend nearby.”
“I see.” She smiled.
Oh, come on! She’s too innocent to believe on that kind of lie. Demire touched his temple. She’s always that beautiful woman despite of her innocence.
“You have breakfast already?”
“Not yet.” He yawned. He was sleepless. He stayed on their roof the whole night. It maybe the stupidest thing he did ever to his life but yes it was. He wanted to watch her the whole night because he was not avail to join her and face her with that kind of look.
“Would you like to join us for breakfast?”
He wanted to. But when he realized the word ‘us’ it yanked him back to his thought. “No, I’ll meet a friend here and will have breakfast.”
“Okay,” she replied him picking one of the breads she brought and bitten some. “Now I know.” She nodded to herself having the thought last night.
“What?”
“Nothing.” She smiled at him and stood up. She walked away, waving her hard to him. “Now I know why I smelled your scent last night, because you’re near with me.” Still unsure about that thing. She might be crazy and stupid having that kind of thought but that was the only thing that agrees to her mind right at this moment. She does not want to be silly because he can smell a man that is far from him. Nobody will believe that thought of her.
“Good morning,” Lily greeted her on the living room. She was with Gab, both sitting on the floor and waiting for her.
“Good morning, Sofia,” Gab greeted her.
She nodded and smiled at them. “Good morning.” She put the paper bag down the table and went to their small kitchen to prepare coffee for them. While doing such the thing, she remembered him. He looking good today and as always as he was. She could not take her eyes off to this man, because it already captured her ideal man.
“Let me do it.” Lily took the mug from her and started to continue making coffee for them. “You look happy today, what happened?”
“I am?”
“Yes, bloom what written all over your face and your eyes was surprised in I don’t know reason.” Lily chuckled. She always caught her. Ang never had the wrong guess about her. She didn’t know if that was because of her expressive reaction or was just Lily has the ability to read everything what’s written on her face. “Did you meet a handsome guy outside?”
“Probably,” she simply said and replied to her. “Uhm, Lily. Is it normal to smell someone’s scent though they’re not here?”
Lily faced her confused. “What do you mean? That’s new about you. Are you telling me you’re missing someone scent?”
“Missing someone scent?”
“Okay, we are throwing the same question for each other.”
They laughed together. After the coffee was made, they headed back to the living room where Gab was waiting and watching cartoon movie.
“Thank you, guys, I feel comfortable here.” Gab smiled at them. “When I lost my dad, I thought I will be alone forever but when I met Sofia. She gave me a chance to meet new family, and it was you guys.”
