ADIRA'S POV
I woke up stretching out my arms, only to find that Elijah wasn't in bed. I leaned up searching the room with my eyes, but there was no appearance of Elijah. I slumped back on the bed, too tired to get up and the cold early breeze didn't help to persuade me other wise.
There was a knock on the bedroom door, too tired tired to check who it was. I mumbled them to come inside instead.
"Hello Lady Adira. King Elijah has sent me to give you your breakfast, and a message." One of the maids bows her head as she walks over and places a tray filled with a sweet morning smell of breakfast, as she hands over a letter.
"Good morning, Lady Adira." Were her last words as she bowed gently and walked out of the room.
I nodded back, but didn't seem to fit in a sentence seeing she left so quickly. I then walked over to the tray of food.
"Mmm, pancakes." I started to dig into my breakfast and once I was done I looked over to the letter on the night stand.
Curious of what information Elijah had prepared for me to read, I opened it and scanned the letter.
"We are planning to go hunting today, my love. If you would like to join feel free to instruct one of the maids to lead you to the field where we all await for noon. Today feel free to do what you like, all in reason.
I wish I could wish you a good morning but the time I was awake you were fast asleep. Right now I'm busy with Alpha work, but I look forward to seeing you soon.
Yours, Elijah."
I couldn't help let out a little giggle at how moochy Elijah was being. We are both in the same building but he speaks as if we are towns apart.
"What a dork." I mumble under my breath. But I couldn't help but smile at he's sweet words. It's defiantly going to get some time to get used to the way he expresses he's feelings.
I got up and decided to have a quick shower, then put on some jeans and a hoodie. Casual is my thing, no matter the rank I was born with or given graciously by fate.
Since I had 3 hours till noon I decided to see how Jace is doing. I still find it strange being an elder sister to a young adult who I had no idea existed till a few weeks ago.
I walked out of the pack house near the pack village. I scanned my eyes for Jace only to find him near some pups, playing with them happily.
I smiled, knowing my brother wasn't as cold as my father. He seemed to genuinely care for the pups here.
I walked over and started laughing from behind him. Right now one of the pups are jumping on he's back, trying to make him fall.
"Adira?" Jace asked shocked as he snapped he's head over towards my gaze. I smiled and nodded as I walked closer and got the cheeky pup off he's back.
"Thanks." Jace smiled.
"No problem." I replied as I put the pup down, only to see him run off with the other kids in the village.
"They really are-"
"Energetic?" Jace cut me off.
"I was going to say cheeky." Jace nodded then we both started to chuckle.
"Well, what brings you here?" Jace asked with a pointed look as we started to stroll around the pack grounds.
"I wanted to see how you were doing." I confessed as I started to fiddle with a loose thread on my hoodie.
Jace looked confused but then smiled. He moved he's gaze away from me and looked at the young pups all playing together.
"Well that's not what I expected." He replied with shrug as he put he's hands into he's pockets.
"Then tell me, what did you expect me to say?" I asked with a smirk.
He looked at me and we stopped walking, he smiled then turned he's expression serious.
"That you hate me." I was taken back by he's words as I looked at him with shock. What kind of person did Jace see me as?
I shrugged the words off and then replied.
"To like someone, you have to know them enough to grow admiration. To hate someone is the same. You have to know them enough, to know the things you don't particularly like in them. To hate someone over envy isn't hate at all, it's just jealousy."
I then put my hands in my hoodie pocket as I walked a few feet further before looking back at him. "I'm not one to get jealous, little brother." I smirked.
He smiled at my statement as we started to walk back to the pack house together.
"If you want to know. The truth is, I don't know how I'm feeling." I nodded at he's answer.
"Makes sense really." I replied. "There's a lot of things you didn't know about for years, I guess your feelings are just catching up with the situations that have been thrown at you unwillingly."
Jace smiled and opened the pack door for me as I walked in before him.
"I never knew you were so wise." Jace said as we walked to the kitchen to get a glass of water.
"Well we've only met on occasions. There's a lot you don't know about me, like I you." He smiled then gulped he's water down while rummaging through the fridge.
We then sat on the kitchen stools talking into deep conversation, and it felt good.
"Can I ask you something? And you don't have to answer, but what was your mother like?"
I echoed he's question in my head over and over.
What was my mother like?
I shrugged then smiled. "I have no clue." I replied honestly as I watched Jace's expression turn guilty. He really had no clue what it felt like having no one to rely on. But then again from the way he acts distantly towards he's parents, I can tell he feels alone even when he's crowed by staged love.
