CHAPTER 16

CHAPTER 16 ADIRA'S POV I sat down in the library, one of 3 in this giant castle like mansion. I picked up a book and started to read, I thought it would be nice to do something in the morning as I wait for the hunt at noon. I talked with Jace earlier, making sure everything was okay with him, seeing that he's mother is being executed tonight. He tried to assure me he was fine, but I know it's an act so everyone could stop pestering him about it. "Lady Adira." A guard came and bowed before me, as he looked at me with a serious expression. "King Elijah requests your presence in the study." I only nod as I put the book back on the shelf and make my way to the study, but seeing that there's so much rooms in this castle, it takes me a while. 30 minutes later I finally arrive at the study door. I blew a sigh of relief as I go to knock on the door, but before I could it was already opening. "Here I thought you were avoiding me." Elijah smiled widely as he opened the door fully, motioning me in. "Even if I wanted to, you wouldn't let me." I joked as I stepped in, going to sit on one of the sofas in front of he's desk. Elijah just lightly chucked as he mumbled. "yeah, you're right." "So, what benevolence have I done to earn the honour to meet the." I paused and started flexing, imitating Elijah. "The All Mighty Alpha King." I said in a low voice, making both of us laugh from my childishness. Elijah stepped forward as he came closer to me, he pecked me on the cheek as he's eyes turned soft with love. "Nothing my love, you just simply were alive for me to meet." My eyes went wide as I felt my cheeks burn, I pushed Elijah's chest as I turned my gaze away from him, too embarrassed. I was never good with lovey stuff, and I'm still not. "You're adorable when you're shy, my love." Elijah says as he's voice is soft, but then he walks over behind he's desk as he's expressions turn serious. That's when I push the embarrassment away as I give him my full attention. "But there was a reason I called you here." He's face expression is stern as if on alert. "What is it?" I asked, to curious about the situation. "There's been rouges trying to get into the borders, about 50 each night. I need you to send them away." I sit there quiet, thinking about he's words. 'Rouges, my rouges? Meaning they're still out there?!' I stand up form my sit so fast that Elijah gives me a raised eyebrow, but I can't help it. I feel to excited! "My family are here!?" I couldn't help but feel my lips widen with a large smile. That's when I feel Elijah stand in front of me, holding both my forearms. Making my smile vanish, as I reword he's sentence in my head. 'Send them away.' I soon frown from the thought. "Wrong, your family is here. Your family is Jace, I am family." I can't help but feel frustration for him. He can't boss me around! I'm he's mate, not he's b***h! They're my family, the ones who stuck by my side when I was alone, the ones who help fight down other packs. They are my family! I then snatch my arms away from him aggressively as I glare at him. "Wrong, they're my family." But that's when I hear Elijah growl lowly as he snakes he's arm around my waist, pulling me closer. "You will not leave me, not again." He grits out as I see he's eyes cloud. Obviously from mind-link. Which is a down side, because I can't mind link he's pack. I can't know what he's thinking. But I didn't have to as I saw guards come in, about 5. 'Not this s**t again.' I think with a groan before I look at Elijah, to see if he's facial expressions can clarify my theory. "Take her away, lock her in her room. She's not allowed to leave until you hear my direct orders." He explains to the men, lowly in a dangerous tone. But they all bow their heads in submission. 'f*****g cowards, taking orders like a bitch.' "You're locking me away!?" I snap at Elijah, then I feel the guards try and motion me out. But I only glare at him. These guard won't touch me, not while Elijah is present. I know that, and that's exactly what I'm going to use to get out of here. "Take her away. Now." He says without even a glance, but once I see one of the guards try and grab my arm, I turn and twist it behind he's back as I kick him in the back of the knees. Making him fall to the ground in a thud. Which made Elijah turn around with a shock expression. I grab the weapon the guard was carrying and put the sword to he's neck. "Don't come close, or he's dead." But Elijah looks irritated as he watches me try and exit the room with a the guard as a shield. "All this because you didn't want to go to your room when told?" He says in anger. But seriously I don't know what's wrong with him. This morning he was sweet and helped me with my nightmare, he even wrote me a note. But now he's keeping me as a prisoner? "No, all this because you're a coward with trust issues." I spat out. motioning for the exit, but not before I saw the hurt in he's eyes. "You think I don't trust you?" He says with a broken voice, my wolf side was yearning to comfort our mate, but my b***h side knew better then to trust my emotions for him. "You ordered them to lock me away like a prisoner, so, yeahh." I said the last part as in a 'Duh' way. Which made him turn away, sitting back in he's sit. The guards look confused on what to do, as they didn't want to anger the Alpha by touching he's mate in a threatening way, but also they had orders. "What are you standing around for, I gave you orders." He explains in a blank expression, as he looks back at he's paper work. But I knew better to let these mutts touch me without a fight. How can something so peaceful, like this morning. Go to something so overwhelming like right now? Why couldn't Elijah trust me? Why can't he understand that even if I wanted to leave I wouldn't, because I was too attached to him.
