CHAPTER 17 ELIJAH'S POV I was on the edge of my seat as I was frustrated. I wanted to make sure she wouldn't leave me, but I also didn't want her to get upset. She ended up knocking 3 of my guys out in front of me, which made me annoyed but also proud. She was a fighter, but I was annoyed at the part my men couldn't do a simple task. So, I grabbed her by her waist and put her over my shoulder as I walked to our room. I then threw her on the bed as I went to go walk out and lock her in, but her voice halted me in my footsteps. "Please, Elijah." I then turn to look at her sad form as she sits on the bed looking upset. I wanted to comfort her, wanted to tell her I was doing this because I couldn't risk another day without her by my side. "Their my family, I miss them. Please." I was going to try and ignore her but then I saw a tear strand leave her beautiful eyes. I rushed over to the bed as I hovered over her, leaning on one hand as the other caressed her cheek. She put her small hand over mine as I leaned in and kissed her tear away. I then leaned my forehead on hers. "I'm not doing this to hurt you, my love. I can't afford to loosing you again, to feeling that pain again." I mumbled on her skin as her eyes look broken from sadness. And I hated the fact that it was because of me that her beautiful diamond eyes looked so distraught. "At least let me say goodbye, please." She whispered back. I then got off the bed as I walked out, but before closing the door and locking her in, I turned, looking at her from over my shoulder. "I can't risk that, I'm sorry." I then close the door with a thud as I lock it, but the banging on the door as I hear her cries for me to free her, hurt me. Like a knife to the heart. I wanted nothing more but to open that door and give her what she wants, but this is not something I can risk. I need her. I then walk downstairs, away form our side of the castle, and now in the main area of the home. "Alpha." Jace bows he's head as he looks up at me. "Where's Adira?" He asks, I know them 2 have formed a bond, a strong one. Their siblings for f**k sake, so of course they would have a strong bond. "She's not feeling well, she's resting in bed. I'd advise not to go near our room." I lie through my teeth. Jace has gone through a lot. He's mother being put to death tonight, he's father exposed to being the worse father of the year, or even worse father of the decade. And on top of that he finally has a sibling, one he shares a bond with. I don't want him to worry, he's a good kid. I see potential in him. And I can't have my wolves emotionally unstable, so if lying helps, then yes, I'll lie. "Oh, well I hope she feels better. I might go do some training." He explains as he walks off but I cut him off. "What about you?" I ask, but he just looks over he's shoulder in confusion. "What do you mean, Alpha?" But I give him a stern look, making sure he knows exactly what I mean. he just sighs as he slumps he's head down low. Gazing at he's feet. "My mom tried to kill my sister, now she's going to die. My father is a coward. And my sister." He sighs as he starts to look up. "She's all I have left." He gives me a weak smile. "So, I don't know. If Adira could go through being a rouge from birth, I think I can go through this." He then leaves with a weak smile as he heads to the gym, where training room is held. I couldn't help but smile, knowing Adira gave him inspiration, that no matter how bad it is, you'll always find a way to get through it. And Adira is he's way to get through it. As she is also my way to through all of this.
