CHAPTER 18
ELIJAH'S POV
I walk to the edge of my land as my beta, Jace follows behind.
We walked to the edge knowing the rouges are there, expecting Adira to show, but I cannot risk her leaving again. So, they'll have to be content with me instead.
"Where's Adira!?" One of the rouges yelled in hatred as he just glared towards me, but I shrugged he's behaviour off like it was nothing.
"She is busy, I on the other hand have plenty of time." I smirked while watching them look irritated at me.
"You're no King of ours, only Adira!" After the mutt yelled that a chant from the rouge pack started to form as they all cheered for Adira to show.
"You either move and let us through, or we go in force." He then smiled an ugly smile which made me cringe. "I promise you, you won't like the second option. So, move." He growled, I only smiled as I moved a side.
The pack of rouges thought I was moving a side for them, they all smiled in triumph. That was until they saw who was behind me.
Jace.
The rouges looked at me confused as I just smiled, motioning them forward. They hesitated at first but then ran at Jace.
Jace dodged them with elegance as he knocked them out swiftly. He didn't punch, he just pressed the right nerves to put them out. Which he'll never teach anyone, not even me.
"What are we going to do with all of them?" Jace asked as he put the men all in position so it looked like they were drunk and 'having fun'.
I just rolled my eyes at he's childish behaviour as I walked to the direction of the castle.
"Whatever needs to be done for them to stay away from Adira." I replied as if I didn't care, but truthfully I did.
"I think I have some ideas how to do that." Jace said smugly under he's breath, which I caught. But I didn't care, he can have he's fun with these mutts.
Knowing him he'll probably leave them in town separated in women's clothes.
*******
I walked into the main area of the castle as I headed up stairs. I saw a doctor come out from our room, the one I left Adira in.
"What's wrong, what happened to Adira?" I said in panic, but I didn't care if people caught it. I just needed to make sure she was alright.
"It's nothing serious, she just, well, she-uh." He scratched the back of he's neck nervously.
"She what!?" I growled, not having time for he's games.
"She." He took a deep breath then sighed. "Well she escaped when someone came to check on how she was doing. But we ended up being caught again by the guards. To be honest, my King. It wasn't her who was injured but the guards."
I let out a deep breath, one I didn't know I was holding in until I knew she was alright. I only smirked, knowing Adira was a strong she-wolf, one no one should mess with.
Which made me proud of her.
He bowed he's head as he walked off, I then turned to our bedroom door as I opened it. Sticking my head in as I saw Adira looking out the window.
"You know it's rude to sneak up on people." She said with heavy tone, one that made me frown. I forgot about the whole situation we had before I locked her in our room.
I scratched the back of my neck nervous as I walked hesitantly towards her.
"How are you?" I asked, trying to lighten the mood. I may be the Alpha King, but she was the Luna Queen, she had the same intimidating expression I have, one that made feel uneasy. And I was the son to the Alpha King!
"Hmm, let me think." She said as she tapped her index finger on her chin as she looked at me over her shoulder, still standing in front of the window.
"My mate doesn't trust to the point he locks me up, my brother is carrying my unconscious family. No doubt going to disrespect them. Oh, and when I finally got the chance to run the guards came and locked me away again. By. Your. Orders." She then looked back at the window with a cold gaze. "But besides that, I'm peachy." She said sarcastically, a tone that made me roll my eyes.
I then walked forward and wrapped my arms around her waist as I leaned my chin on her shoulder.
"You do understand why I did it, right?" I said in a gentle tone, hoping she'll forgive me.
But instead she gripped my nose hard as I groaned from the sudden pain.
"I do understand." She said with a smile, one that sent an uneasy feeling to me. Cause I know it was forced. "That's the difference between me and you, Alpha." She then turned around, facing me fully as she let go of my nose, I rubbed it forcefully as I looked at her.
"I took your feelings into consideration, I knew why you do the things you do. So, my question is why can't you do the same for me? Why can't you ever think of others but yourself? Yeah, I may be your mate, but being your mate doesn't erase the memories nor pain I've felt." she then took a dangerous step towards me as her gaze still was cold and her tone low.
"Nor does it erase the family I have." She spat out with venom as she walked away from me. I could feel her presence leave the room as I groaned and ran a hand through my hair.
Yup, she's pissed
