The Rouge Queen

Chapter 12

ADIRA'S POV

I've been taking careful breaths as I tried to calm down. Some rouge tried to pounce on a young girl, so I stupidly shifted in front of her as a shield.

She took off running. I didn't know where she ran off too, seeing that I was busy killing the mangy mutt.

Seriously only a few weeks gone and I have rouges fighting me. Does anyone remember who I am?

My body is to energised for it to shift back. So, right now I'm hiding near a lake in the forest till my body calms down for me to shift back.

If I'm being honest. I went to sleep last night, but my wolf told me I started sleep walking. When I finally snapped back to reality, I found out that I was in my mate's territory. I know it sounds cliche and s**t, but I guess our bond is stronger then I took credit for. Especially since I walked here in my sleep, and we hardly even talked. Making it hard to grow bond that strong over a few words.

I was now laying down beside the lake with my head resting near the water, I was still in my wolf form. Not that I minded. I hardly had the chance to just relax with my wolf without fighting or running away. It felt nice. Comforting even.

I closed my eyes, trying to take in the nature of the forest that was flooding with my heighten senses.

ELIJAH'S POV

The young girl informed us that she saw the young girl protect her, the reason why she became a beast.

'Obviously our mate.' My wolf scoffed in the mind-link. No doubt with a smug grin because of how heroic our mate is.

I just nodded my head in agreement. It had to be her, it had to be our mate.

I ran back to the forest the young girl said the attack was. I leaped in the air and shifted in my wolf.

We started running full speed. To eager to see our mate again.

I halted when I saw blood spread everywhere. Like a track making it's way deeper in the forest.

I shook my head, not believing that my mate was injured or worse, dead. She couldn't be. She was a f*****g Rouge Queen for f***s sake. She had to be alright.

I then took in the scent and started tracking the blood. I was now on one side of the lake that was present in the forest.

My eyes went cold when I saw who was on the other side, lying down, while breathing heavily. Adira.

I shook my head and ran with full speed around the lake to I got to her. I shifted back, now obviously nude in front of her. But I didn't care, my main focus was on seeing if she was injured.

Adira's eyes soon opened when she felt the sparks going through her, as I cupped her face looking for any injuries.

Her eyes soften, making me want her even more. But I shook my lust for her away, as I tried to check if she was okay.

Adira stood up and slowly started to shift back. No doubt the shift was hurting her.

When she was done she looked up at me, she gave me a weak smile the slumped to the ground. She was exhausted, but she needed to stay awake.

"Please my love. Stay awake for me, just a bit longer." I said gently, stroking her cheek. She looked up in my eyes as she was cradled in my arms near the lake.

She then turned her gaze down to her legs. There sitting on her legs was claw marks that were bleeding. That's why she couldn't stand. That's why she was laying down near the lake.

I looked back at her, moving my gaze to her beautiful face. I pushed back a few strands of hair away from her eyes. I then leaned my forehead on hers as I let her scent engulf my nostrils. I could never get sick of her smell.

I then put her down gently as I walked a few steps away from her. This giving me a questioning look from her. I chuckled and gave her a loving smile before I shifted in my wolf. I then bent down near her, telling her to go on my back.

At first she seemed weary of the idea, but then finally got on my back. I felt her hold on my fur tightly, making me groan with lust. But I quickly scoffed the noise away. Trying to make it less awkward. But she just giggled at it. And f**k, her giggle was also something I could never get sick of. It was pure music to my ears.

I then took off with full speed, but also being careful. Making sure I wasn't hurting her. We were now in front of the pack house. I then walked up to the house with my body tall and dominating. Adira still laying on my back as her breathing started to go hollow. f**k.

I then mind-linked Jace to get the pack doctor, state. He obliged and by the time I put her gently on our bed, the pack doctor was now in the room.

I shifted back and went into the large walk in closet to put on something quick.

As I walked out I saw the young man, the pack doctor. Stroking her face, checking for injuries is what my mind said. Although my wolf said something different.

I walked over angrily and grabbed him by the neck, while pushing him to the wall. Making him squirm in my hold. Trying to find the ground, but also trying to find air.

I gave off a dangerous aura as I stared him down.

"Don't ever touch my mate like that again." I gritted out. He nodded he's head with fright detected in he's eyes.

I let him go then faced my injured mate. I stroked some of her hair away as I looked deeply in her eyes.

"It's going to be okay." I replied. I then felt Jace's presence in the room.

I turned my head, not leaving my position from my mate, but just glaring up at him.

'We need to talk. Now.' Jace said through the mind-link.

I snapped back in anger, did he forget who he's speaking to?

'No. I need to be with her.' I gritted out as I stroked Adira's cheek softly. Right now she's unconscious. Laying there slumped on the bed.

'It's urgent for f***s sake.' I snapped my head at him. Was he seriously using that tone with me?

I guess he could tell what I was thinking, because he took a deep breath then continued.

'The attack on Adira. It wasn't an accident. There is information that people were planning to kill her.' I looked down at my sleeping mate as anger and hatred was consuming me.

Who dares to kill their Queen?!

I then walked away from my mate, and let the doctor do what he had to do, to make her feel alright.

I then walked beside Jace as we made our way to the pack meeting room.

We need to understand what is going on. And who the f**k are the mutts trying to kill their own f*****g Queen!

I only just go her back, I will not let her die. Not now. Not ever.
