Chapter 13

1235 Words
Elijah's pov Jace and I have been sitting in my office going over the attack that just happened with my mate and a rouge. "How do you know this?" I ask Jace with a pointed eyebrow. "I ended up heading back doing my own investigation." He explained while rubbing he's temples. "It wasn't a rouge Elijah, I know because I went back to the scene." This got my curiosity up, as I nodded for Jace to continue. "It was a pack member of yours." He replied with sigh. The sigh sounded annoyed but also sad. As if he knew exactly who attacked my mate. "I have a feeling you know who it is, so if I was you I would spit out the name you're trying to hide." He looked at me then groaned as he slid he's hand over he's face while pulling he's hair in anger and frustration. "It was the previous female beta." My eyes went wide at he's confession. The previous female beta was Jace's mother. But why the hell would she try and kill her own mate's daughter? "Are you sure about this Jace? Accusing your own mother, flesh and blood isn't something taken lightly." He looked up and nodded with sadden eyes. "You do know the consequences that will be brought to her if she is the one who attacked Adira?" He just nodded lowly. "Yes, I do." I got up from my seat and put my hand on he's shoulder in a comforting gesture. "Thank you, Jace. I know it's not easy for you. But doing this proves your loyalty for your King, and Queen. But also for your friend, and your sister." He nodded as he tried not to look weak in front of me. "I will not forget this act of loyalty Jace." I replied before I let go of my hand from he's shoulder and walked away. "Bring her here. And your farther." I looked back at Jace who got up from he's seat and bowed before replying. "Yes, King Alpha." I then sat here waiting for the woman who allegedly tried to harm my mate. I just hope it's not her. I already have my mate that doesn't feel loved, I don't want my best-friend feeling like he's mother is a cruel woman who tried to kill he's own sister. ADIRA'S POV I woke up with a groan. The pain in my leg shot through me like a lightening bolt. That's when I tried to even my breathing, as I tried to hope out of bed gently. I can tell by the scent that is hovering in the room, that this is Elijah's room. I hoped out of bed, trying to find where he was. I needed to talk to him. I needed to apologise for everything I've caused him. As I hobbled through the castle, I had no idea where I was going. So, I decided to follow he's scent. But I soon stopped when the scent lead to an office door. I planned to knock on the door, but then decided to creak the door open. But both ideas sounded cringey in my mind. So, instead I chose to wait for when he finished with whatever he was discussing. I stood there with my back against the wall, leaning for balance as my eyes were glued to the office door on the other side of the hallway. That's when my werewolf hearing came through. I started picking up the conversation that was happening. At first I wanted to block the sound out, but then I heard my name, and couldn't help but listen in. I was curious to know if Elijah was mad with me, or if he was talking about me cause he hated me. But instead something else came through that made my stomach turn. "She was never suppose to be born. Her mother died because of her!" A woman screamed, what hurt more was I knew who that voice belonged to. It was my farther's mate. "I was suppose to kill her! I was saving our pack from another attack because of that b***h!" Then I heard a loud slap, and a whimper. "You try and justify your wrong doings from trying to kill YOUR QUEEN!" I heard Elijah yell with he's alpha tone. Which made my farther's mate whimper. "Please your highness. She only did it because she saw Adira as a threat." I hear my farther say. It made me sick to think my farther was defending a woman who tried to kill he's own child. "ENOUGH!" Elijah's voice boomed. "How dare you defend someone who put your Luna, and Queen in danger." Then he's voice went low. "A woman who would kill your own daughter." Then the door swung opened with Jace's mother carried out by guards. "Send her to the cell. She shall be put to death for trying to kill her Queen." That's when I saw Jace's mother scream, and struggle in the guards hold. As she tried to be set free. Then I saw in the office Jace holding he's farther down as he looked murderous. Ready to kill anyone who hurt he's mate. But as Jace was holding him down Elijah was putting a needle into him, to make him calm down. Soon my farther became slump. As he let sleep consume him. "Lock him up. I don't want him going on a killing spree when he wakes up." Elijah ordered During this while situation they didn't realise I was witnessing it all. "Elijah." I whispered. That's when Jace and Elijah's head snapped towards me. They looked shocked and wide eyed. "What are you doing here?" Elijah asked in a stern voice as he approached me. "I-I ju-just wanted to say sorry for everything. But then-" I struggled to form words as I just witnessed what had happened here a few seconds ago. My own brother has to watch as he's mother dies. He held our farther down as he was ready to lock him up. He's hurting....because of me. "But nothing. You should be resting." Elijah explained as he stroked my cheek. I didn't want to ask questions about Jace's mother. I didn't want to remind him of the fate he's own mother is going to be handed tomorrow. So instead I nodded. I started hobbling back to the room. That's when I heard Elijah groan with frustration. I looked back over at him to see why he was angry. But Instead I was picked up bridal style and walked back to our room, by Elijah. "You know if you need help, it doesn't hurt to ask. Mate." I just gave him a weak smile as i started to close my eyes from the lack of energy and drama that's being going on, I started to feel tired. Next thing I knew I was tucked into Elijah's bed once again. That's when I felt him kiss my forehead and mumble. "I will not let anyone hurt you, my love. Even if it means killing everyone to assure your safety." I didn't reply but kept up with the act, that I was asleep. I didn't want him to know that I heard every word. Because I didn't know how to reply to that. So, instead I turned over to my side and let sleep consume me as the night started to rise.
