Chapter 1 Reborn, you are just a substitute.
Pain.
So much pain.
Fanny Ives opened her eyes and saw that familiar man.
It was him...
Yes, the man who had ruined her life!
She thought she was dead, having been pushed down the stairs by Shannon Jagger while eight months pregnant—two lives lost in an instant!
Suddenly, Fanny became fully alert and struggled to distance herself from the man, but his grip was unyielding!
Tears filled her eyes as she pleaded, "Leroy Morse, are you even human? Let me go! I'm still carrying your child!"
Leroy Morse laughed coldly, his anger boiling beneath the surface, wishing he could choke the life out of her!
With a cruel smile, he said, "Let you go? Not in this lifetime."

When Fanny Ives woke up again, Leroy Morse was gone.
She looked around the room, stunned.
Since her divorce from Leroy, she hadn’t stepped foot in this place.
And she had left everything behind, clean and empty, for six whole months.
Could it be... she had been reborn?
*Knock, knock.*
There was a knock at the door.
Fanny Ives tensed and looked toward the entrance. "Who is it?"
Leroy Morse wouldn’t knock on the door to his own room.
“It’s me, Shannon.”
"Shannon Jagger!"
Fanny Ives's eyes blazed with hatred as she clutched the sheets beneath her tightly.
Shannon Jagger—her former best friend. From middle school to high school and then college, they had shared the same dorm, their bond closer than that of sisters.
Fanny had once believed that Shannon was the only person in the world she could trust.
But who would have thought that every heartfelt piece of advice Shannon had given was merely a ploy to provoke Leroy Morse, leading to Fanny's humiliation and imprisonment?
Meanwhile, Shannon had been reaping the benefits of betraying her, stealing Fanny's music scores to compete and become a celebrated musical prodigy. She even found her biological parents and transformed into a figure everyone envied.
In the end, Shannon had pushed Fanny and her unborn child down the stairs, resulting in a tragic double death.
Standing at the door, Shannon didn’t hear a response, so she pushed the door open and walked in.
Fanny was in a disheveled state, and while there was jealousy in Shannon's eyes, her expression showed concern, almost on the verge of tears.
She rushed over and asked, "Fanny, you and him... last night..."
Fanny realized she had truly been reborn! Today was the day it all began again...
Even Shannon's words echoed the exact lines from her past life!
Suppressing the hatred in her eyes, Fanny replied quietly, "Isn't it obvious?"
Shannon's face was filled with pain and disappointment as she said, "How could you do this? Didn’t we promise to stay pure for Patrick Moore?"
Patrick Moore was Fanny Ives's ex-boyfriend. In her past life, Fanny had been forced by her adoptive parents to marry Leroy Morse, and she had never accepted him.
Instead, she relied heavily on Patrick. After several pushes from Shannon Jagger, Fanny finally agreed to meet Patrick.
But before she could see him, Leroy Morse showed up.
When she woke up, it was just like the scene from the night before.
Shannon Jagger wiped away nonexistent tears and said, "Last night, Patrick waited for you all night and never saw you. If he finds out you were in bed with another man..."
Not again!
Shannon knew exactly where Fanny's weaknesses lay from her previous life.
The old Fanny would have felt unbearable guilt and pain.
But now...
Fanny made a confused expression. "Another man? Are you talking about Leroy?"
Shannon replied as if it were obvious, "Who else could it be? You can't stand him, right? Just yesterday, you said you wished he would die sooner so you could be free!"
Her voice rose slightly, as if intentionally making sure someone could hear.
Shannon discreetly glanced at a mirror not far ahead, where a man stood on the balcony, listening to the commotion inside.
His aura was growing darker by the second.
Shannon felt a twinge of schadenfreude.
That fool, Fanny, probably had no idea that man was standing there.
If she did, she would be too scared to say a word!
Given her intense hatred for Leroy Morse, the words she was about to say would undoubtedly sting.
I wonder what Master Leroy's reaction would be?
However, Fanny Ives's response took her by surprise.
Fanny looked up at her, "When did I ever say that?"
Shannon Jagger was taken aback and quickly grabbed her hand. "You said it just a few days ago! You said you and Patrick Moore were truly in love, and that you wanted to elope. Have you forgotten?"
"Shannon," Fanny Ives coldly brushed her off, "I’m already Mrs. Morse. It's fine to talk about this privately, but if Six hears it, it could lead to unnecessary misunderstandings, and that would be a problem."
Shannon Jagger felt uncertain.
This i***t usually just went along with whatever she said, but now her attitude was completely different!
"I’ve never met Patrick Moore. The reason I agreed to see him last night was to make it clear to him that he should forget me.
I didn’t expect some gossiping fool to tell Six about it..."
Shannon felt a pang of anxiety.
That gossiping fool was both far away and right in front of her.
Fanny Ives looked at Shannon Jagger and said, "So last night, Six was really angry. Usually, he’s very gentle..."
As she spoke, her tone turned shy.
Meanwhile, the man standing on the balcony, smoking, felt his throat tighten and swallowed hard.
Normal times?
What normal times?
This woman had always tried to distance herself from him, so what was she playing at now?
Shannon Jagger was stunned, filled with jealousy and resentment. "Are you saying you two have been together many times?"
Fanny Ives lowered her gaze. "Yeah... so can you please tell Patrick Moore to stop bothering me? I can't handle it if Six gets jealous again."
Shannon clenched her fists, feeling increasingly frustrated and disappointed. Her voice trembled as she said, "Last night, it was freezing in the capital. Patrick waited for you at the café until after ten, and he only left when the café closed. He even cried! While he was heartbroken over you, you were with another man...
I understand you have your reasons; you want to repay the Ives family's kindness. But does that really mean sacrificing your happiness for a lifetime?"
