Ivory's POV.
I landed hard on the ground, clutching my stomach tightly.
"Argh," I moaned loudly as a severe pain shot through my stomach.
“Get up Ivory!” Lucas yelled at the top of his voice. Although I could not see his face, I could tell he was upset.
Holding my stomach tight, I stood up and faced Lucas, who had a scowl on his face.
“You pathetic child. Your father would be disappointed with your performance." Lucas lamented indignantly. "Is this how you intend to lead the pack after your father dies? You weakling!” He added.
His words infuriated me. If there was one thing I despised the most, it was the thought of disappointing my father.
No one had the right to speak to me in the tone Lucas was. No one except the Alpha himself, my father.
I clutched my hands tightly and ran towards Lucas to attack him. My strategy was to knock him over with an uppercut to the chin.
I knew that was merely impossible because Lucas was a skilled fighter. I mean, he had to be.
He was my father's right-hand wolf as well as his advisor, making him the pack's beta wolf.
Lucas was well built physically. His huge physique made him stand out amongst other wolves in the pack. According to what I heard, he was almost as strong as my father. Many people claimed that my father nearly lost a duel to him before I was born.
Father had specifically assigned Lucas to be my teacher and teach all the basics I needed to master as the next Alpha female of the pack.
“Too slow” He remarked, grabbing my wrist tightly. “But, I must say, I am impressed you thought of a move like that” He added, with what seemed to be a smirk across his face.
He dragged my wrist forcefully and hurled me towards a tree. I instantly started coughing as blood was sprouting from my mouth.
I jolted off the bed, with sweat dripping from my forehead.
“My lady, you are awake,” Lily said, rushing towards me. “You had a bad dream?” She asked curiously.
“Uhun” I answered, knowing fully well that it was not just a dream.
“What happened?, the last thing I remembered was being in the restroom at Sabastian’s house” I said, rubbing my head which was hurting badly.
“Lay down Luna” Lily said, helping my head rest back on the pillow.
She soaked a white towel in a bowl of water and placed it over my head. “This will ease the pain,” She said.
What I saw in my dream kept replaying in my head. I knew it was not just a dream, it was a memory.
I was positive that it served as a reminder of my purpose for being here and I should never lose focus, no matter what the circumstances.
“You were almost killed last night” Lily said, jolting me back into reality.
“What?” I spoke in a confused tone.
“You asked what happened. Master Sabastian tried to kill you.” Lily said, her voice barely above a whisper.
“Huh? Why? I mean I just met him” I said, looking as confused as ever.
“Before your arrival to obsidian, Alpha Ethel was betrothed to Skye, Master Sabastian’s daughter.” Lily paused for a while, taking the towel off my forehead.
“However, the Alpha rejected Skye a few days before their mating ceremony. She didn't take the news well as she tried to kill herself,” Lily explained.
“Where is she now?” I asked, totally interested to know her whereabouts and what happened next.
“No one knows. Since then, Skye hasn't been seen in Obsidian. Some said, she is hiding in her room in shame” Lily answered, placing another wet towel on my forehead.
“Where is Sabastian?”
“In the dungeon, waiting for his final verdict. He would have been dead if Beta Alex hadn't found you at the right time” Lily said.
“Dead?”
“From what I heard, the Alpha was about to slit Master Sabastian’s throat before the Beta called out to him”
“Alpha Ethel…”
My statement was interrupted when the door to my room swung open.
Ethel walked in with a plain expression. His eyes, looking cold as usual, stared into mine.
Lily quickly got on her feet and bowed. “I should leave now. Call me when you need anything my Lady” She added before walking out of the room.
Ethel walked towards my bed and sat on it. He removed the wet towel from my forehead and returned it to the water bowl beside my bed.
He then pressed his hand against my forehead to check my temperature. As soon as he touched me, I felt a spark run through my body.
How did he always manage to make me feel this way?
“Were you really going to kill Sabastian?” I finally spoke, breaking the silence between us.
“He dared to touch you, my mate, the Luna of obsidian! Death would be an easy getaway for him” Ethel said, staring deep into my eyes.
“What do you plan to do to him?” I asked curiously.
“I will make sure he doesn't ever have the voice to give instructions like that again.” Ethel said, with no remorse whatsoever. He was much tougher than he looked, I couldn't deny that fact.
Without saying another word, he leaned over and pressed his lips firmly against mine.
I wanted to push him away but I couldn't bring myself to. Deep down, I knew I wanted him as I longed for his touch the past few days.
“You looked breathtaking last night that I instantly wanted to devour you” Ethel said softly, planting a kiss on my neck.
I let out a quiet moan.
And with that, we shared yet another passionate night filled with loud moans and beautiful memories.
I awoke the next morning to rays of sunshine shining on my face. Ethel was still sleeping peacefully. I stared at him for a while before getting off the bed.
I walked to the bathroom and turned to face the mirror. I raised my right hand up and stared at my bracelet.
I then took off the bracelet and pressed it firmly in my palm. It was handcrafted with wooden beads and woven cotton thread.
It had my initials engraved in the middle and it was the only thing that reminded me of home, and my father.
“What do you have there?” Ethel asked from behind.
I panicked and the bracelet fell from my hand to the floor.
