An Orphan No More

Anya pov

the following morning i roll over to find the bed empty i sit bolt upright and look around upon hearing the bathroom door open, Lucas stands there a towel wrapped around his waist beads of water dripping from "are you okay my angel?" he enquires, but im too distracted to notice, he makes a small noice "eh hem" that brings me back into the room, i go to have a quick shower and get dressed, as we head down the stairs i suddenly freeze by breathing becoming eratic, its just dawning on me im meeting my parents this morning, i spent 14 years of my life an orphan a slave, and now i have a mate and im getting my parents back all in 24hrs, "im just a bit overwhelmed" i tell him as hes helping me with my breathing we carry on down to breakfast and find Lucas parents already waiting for us, together we made the decision to meet my parents over breakfast so i could pick at the food if i felt awkward at all.

sitting at the table sipping a steaming cup of coffee i jump as the door opens. Beta Mitch emerges with 2 pack members, i take a deep breath "we can do this Anya", red tells me i look up and make eye contact with them i can clearly tell the lady has been crying her face is slightly swollen and tear stained her eyes are bloodshot, i look over at the man he seems relaxed but i can tell hes trying to keep his emotions in check, Red is going crazy (thats our parents) shes shouting over and over again.

Anya, is that you? a quiet voice says i look round to the lady and as soon as our eyes meet i run to her Mumma, i shout as i jump into her arms i look over her shoulder to the man papa? i say as i reach my hand out too him, he puts his arms around myself and my mother and says "my girls together at last".

i slowly take a step back, why did you leave me? was i not good enough? did i do something wrong?. what did i do that made me deserve to be an orphan all my life and to be made a slave for 12 years.? i blurt out speaking so fast im not theyve actually heard me, I don't break eye contact and i can see they look ashamed of themselves.

sweetheart please take a seat we'll answer all your questions i tell her, i can see her eyes glass over and can tell shes talking to her wolf, ok...im listening she replies,

Lucas pov

i find it hard to sit back and watch the emotional reunion i want to step in and comfort my mate and help her through this, but i know i need to take a step back. we all sit together over breakfast and i listen to Anya blurt out so many questions to her parents. "Anya my angel slow down, take a breath, and just listen" well get to the bottom of this i promise. we need to get everything sorted before the kings visit.

"it all started 20 years ago when we first joined that awful pack, i was originally from south star pack, your father was north star pack we met at a treaty signing and realised we were mates, this didnt help the treaty so we ran away to be together and that was when we found Alpha Michael and Luna Amelie, we took refuge with them at sapphire falls and to start with it was amazing, we were given an amazing room in the pack house, both a decent job, i became good friends with luna amelie she was bridesmaid when i married your dad. But 2 years after the wedding everything changed, i fell pregnant with you, we told Amelie and Michael our best friends, we thought they would be happy for us. little did we know they had been trying for a baby too and it had been difficult for them, they began to make our lives hell giving your dad a hard time demoting him from chief warrior, they increased my cleaning chores. i was up at the crack of dawn and not getting to bed untill 11pm everyday to get everything done.

i had hardly any time to study for my nurses degree, i barely passed it, when you where born things got worse and when you where 6 months old me and your dad were banished they said either we left you behind to be raised by them or they would kill you, while we were tied up and made to watch. if we told anyone you would have been killed top we left to keep you safe,

we had no idea they would treat you badly. we left and came here the closest pack to you, we were mostly honest about comining here and we are so sorry for the deciet but we couldnt risk our beautiful daughter.

Anya pov

i sat there listening to her hanging on to her every word, staying silent just taking it all in, not sure how to feel, so its my fault you lost your best friends? i whisper, no my princess it was theirs, their the ones in the wrong with all this and we will get justice lucas reassures me,

i was 3 when it first started, i was running threw the packhouse with the other children and an expensive vase got broken, because i was bringing up the rear behind the others i got the blame Alpha hit me and luna screamed at me they cant believe they adopted such a worthless girl and that was how i found out they wernt my parents, that went on for another 2 years then they started with the chores and at the age of 10 i was pulled out of school and thats when the 5am starts started.

We take a break so i can begin to process everything and went for a walk around the pack house gardens and before long were back in the house and dinner is served and everyone tucks in but after the events of the day im exhausted and begining to feel really unwell, youve not eaten much are you sure your okay? i hear a concerned lucas threw out mate link, i think i just need a hot bath and to sleep ill see you upstairs.

As im climbing the stairs i hear red's voice in my head telling me were close to being able to meet, little did i know we would be meeting tonight, as i open the door to our room im met with this un bearable pain in my stomach that has me doubled over i scream out in agony, i hear lots of banging as everyone runs from the table knocking over chairs, i feel sweat dripping from me and lucas sweeping me into his arms pulling me as close to him as he can get, knowing that being close to him will help with the pain"Breathe Angel, your going through your first shift lets get her onto the balcony being under the full moon might help. "dont fight it love itll be over soon,"

After what felt like an enternity i finally shifted and they stared at me in awe as i stood before them the rare red wolf with green eyes and 4 white feet. I look around me sniffing the air, suddenly i see a huge red and black wolf jump around playfully and from his scent i realise phoenix has come out to play. we bound out the bedroom door and down the stairs then we come to a hurdle the front door is closed, we stand at the door prancing around from paw to paw our tails wagging a mile an hour, "someone get the door before they break threw it" Alpha shouts while everyone else is laughing as soon as the door is opened we run out into the woods, i finally feel happy, free and loved for the first time. we run threw the trees jumping logs chasing deer, i skid to a stop at the lake gazing at my refletion suddenly i feel phoenix crash into me and we tumble into the cool water after playing for what feels like hours we head back to the pack house prancing under the stars.
