The seconds seemed to take forever to pass by as Alex hoped the beast wouldn't come towards her direction. She heard its loud snarl again and this time around she could tell it had walked past the dining room.  "Thank goodness!", she breathed out, as she buried her head on the marble floor of the kitchen. She was safe. "I think I should leave now just in case it returns", she said. It was not an easy choice for her to make but she knew she had to move because where she hid wasn't totally insecure. There were no doors to barricade herself in, the only safe place she could think of was in her room. "I have to get to my room as quickly as possible", she whispered to herself, summoning up the courage as she crawled out of her hiding spot into the dining room. The floor was smooth making it
