Chapter 6

Xavier’s POV: The whole thing was just inconvenient. Charlotte was angry and would not come home. I did not blame her entirely. Suddenly there was my fate mate, who we never planned to deal with at any point of our lives. “Give her some time,” Charlotte's mother, Kelly, advised as I left her house. I just gave her a nod. Charlotte needed space to think, and she would stay at her mother's in the meantime. “What do you intend to do, Alpha?” Kelly asked. “Will my daughter keep her title as Luna, or will your mate take over?” I turned to her. “Charlotte is my mate. She always has been, and she always will be. No one can replace Charlotte as Luna." Kelly nodded approvingly. "I agree. Charlotte is a special girl. I will do whatever I can to persuade her to come back. In the meantime, I suggest you sort out your other situation." Kelly didn't care about the pack's wellbeing, but she was right about one thing; no one could replace Charlotte. My alleged mate girl was a hybrid. She was weak. She could not shift, and for some reason, her wolf had gone away. She had had no idea she was even a wolf till 30 minutes ago, according to what Zelda was telling me through the mind link. How could she be my Luna? There was one thing I could not ignore. When she was close to me earlier, I felt undeniably stronger. In a way, she was what was missing from the pack. "Only she has the power to strengthen the pack," Christopher told me as we drove back to the house. "Charlotte can, but to an extent. And that is when you actually mark her." While Charlotte and I were established as a couple and lived as husband and wife, she still wanted to have an actual wedding, and she wanted to wait until our wedding night till I could mark her to make it special. Maybe if she had just let me do it already this Elara girl would be irrelevant. "Choose wisely Alpha," Christopher told me before he drove. I knew he liked the hybrid. She was the rightful Luna, and so obviously, he felt some sort of loyalty to her. As soon as Zelda opened the door for me the scent hit me. It was intoxing, and it frustrated me down to the bone. "The guests have left, Alpha," Zelda informed me. "The Luna is in the drawing room. She wishes to speak to you." "Charlotte is my Luna," I reminded her. "She is an inconvenience. " "Of course, Alpha." I walked into the drawing room. Elara turned around to face me, crossing her arms. She was still in her bra, only now with a jacket draped around her shoulders. Not even the jacket could hide away her creamy looking skin and her scent. It was beginning to tick me off. "Alpha Xavier, is it?" She questioned with a straight face. I still the tear streaks on her face. I had to give it to her; for a girl who had been through all she had in just the last couple of hours, she was quite valorous. I simply nodded. "I won't let you hurt my family on my account. Maybe if I hadn't gone looking for wolves like my dad told me not to, I wouldn't have found them. So I'll take accountability and accept your punishment. However, I have one condition. " "You're in no position to make orders," I told her. "I want to see my mother," she demanded anyway. "Before you make me your...mate, or whatever." "You will. When I decide I can trust you. As I said, you're in no position to make demands." I took a step closer to her. Everything about her wanted to pull me in, but I resisted. She blinked up at me with her big doe eyes. She blinked profusely, then suddenly frowned. “You're not going to kiss me or anything, are you?” I raised a brow. “What?” Who on earth did this hybrid think she was? “I know we're…mates or whatever but—” "Xavier!" My mother's voice cut her off. She walked into the room with my sister Ophelia behind her. "Deal with this," I said to her through mindlink before I left the room. Elara's POV: From what I was hearing, no matter how they tried to phrase it, Mr Grumpy and his pack of monsters needed me. That was a fact. According to Randy and Nora, the Luna strengthened the Alpha and the pack. That meant he couldn't kill me. I was safe. That doesn't man I wasn't terrified of the Alpha. He was f*****g terrifying. And so now, staring into his eyes, I hated how safe I felt in his presence. I hated how my body reacted to his nearness. "Xavier!" A tall middle aged woman walked into the room, followed by a girl, probably my age, in a black strapless dress. I could not believe all these people were wolves. But who was I to judge? I was one too. Or was I? The Alpha gave me one last deadly look before he stormed out. The two women ignored him, turning to me. "My, my, you are beautiful," the younger woman complimented. "I'm Xavier’s younger sister, Ophelia. It's so nice to meet you Luna." I forced a smile. "It's Elara." "Luna Elara it is," she smiled. "Ophelia is right Elara. You are just lovely. My name is Dani. I am Xavier’s mother. Welcome to the pack!" I tried to smile. She looked just like Mr Grumpy, they both did. The same sandy brown hair and brown eyes. Good genes seemed to run in the family. "I know this is hard," Dani softened, "but we will try our best to make this easier for you." I stayed quiet. I didn't even know what they expected me to say. They seemed nice, but that didn't change that I was there against my will. My whole life had just been taken away from me. "Miss Elara," the maid came in, "I have prepared a bath for you." "Luna, Zelda," Ophelia corrected her. "This is not some 'miss'. This is my brother's fate mate. She is our Luna." "Of course, Miss Ophelia," Zelda nodded. "Luna," Zelda began again, "I have your bath ready upstairs." I nodded, hesitantly following her. Their house was a freaking palace. There maids in uniforms everywhere, and everything looked expensive and luxurious. Zelda led me to a room upstairs, and it was the biggest bedroom I had ever seen in my entire life. Everything was done in white, from the bedding to the curtains. The entire floor was covered by a fluffy white carpet, and a large dressing table was in the corner, with a huge vanity mirror attached to the wall. "I hope the room is to your liking Luna," Zelda smiled at me. "We had to prepare it on short notice." Short notice? This is what I imagined Rihanna's bedroom looked like. "It's beautiful," I mumbled. "I'll leave you to bath and rest. Goodnight Luna," she said before closing the door. I stood frozen for a few minutes, not sure what to do with myself. This was actually happening. I could not go home, I was suddenly a werewolf, whatever the hell a Luna was, and I could no longer see my family. I stumbled into the bathroom and stripped my dirty clothes off before sinking into the warm foamy water. I let the water completely cover my body, as I leaned back, unable to stop my tears from flowing.
