In one swift movement, I rolled out of bed and headed straight for the kitchen. I got the necessary tools out of the cupboard to tidy up the wound. At this point, I am very glad that my dad is a doctor. In my childhood, he used to teach me thoroughly how to deal with this or that situation. I opened a bottle of alcohol and used it as a disinfectant. The strong smell of alcohol made my forehead wrinkle. A few minutes later, I was already clutching my side. After tidying everything up, I climbed into my room and changed into clean clothes. It was a pair of brown jeans and the same sweater. I could feel my left side tingling, but I hoped for the best. I lay down on the bed because I felt exhausted. After several attempts, I finally found a position where I felt comfortable. Soon my eyes closed and my body fell asleep. A soft humming made it difficult to open my eyes. There was almost dark in the room. The sound continued to spoil my peace, so I lazily sat on the bed. I turned my eyes towards the source of the sound, and there was Lilly sitting outside the window and babbling. I crawled out of bed and turned on the light. My eyes squinted against the bright light. Then I go to the window and opened for Lilly. "Are you all right?" Lilly said, frightened. "Yes, and why should it be different?" I rubbed my eye, still snoozing. "You missed our meeting." Lilly sat on the bed and looked at me. "I was in the woods last night, I was damn tired, I must have fallen asleep" I sat down next to Lilly. " You're lying. You never miss our meetings." Lilly rolled her eyes at me. In one movement, I lifted the corner of my jumper and showed her my patched side. The view wasn't particularly pleasant, you could even see the blood soaking through. "What happened?" Lilly asked looking up with big eyes. "I was attacked." I rolled my eyes. "Attacked? Attacked by who?" Lilly looked aghast. " The fact that a werewolf." I rolled my eyes. " I still don't understand why?" Lilly looked frowning. " I've had an encounter with the whole Pack to be exact." I said calmly. "Pack? I thought you weren't in werewolf land?" Lilly asked calmly. " I didn't, they were off their lands." I lay back on the bed with a light laugh. "How did you survive?" Lilly lay down next to me. "There was Locan. I think I met part of the Moon Pack. One of them had attacked me, he must have run away from the others. I didn't manage to dodge his attack, but by the next attack he was on the ground." I briefly told part of the story. "They let you go?" Lilly did not believe her ears. "I think Lorcan stopped them from killing me." I rolled my eyes. They were both lying on the bed in silence, staring at the ceiling of my room. I can say it's quite a strange coincidence, this isn't the first time Lorcan has saved my life. I half smiled and Lilly moved from lying to sitting. "You're damn lucky, you could have died." Lilly smiled back at me. "I know, it's just a scratch. I should be good as new tomorrow." I smiled broadly. " We didn't get to do anything spectacular, today is your fifth day." Lilly smacked her lips. "We have all of tomorrow, there's nothing to be sad about." I nudged Lilly's shoulder. "Promise?" Lilly raised an eyebrow looking at me. "I'll see you tomorrow, Lilly." I hugged Lilly tightly. Lilly got out of bed and soon disappeared outside the window. It was getting dark outside and my parents were not home yet. My stomach growled with hunger. I crawled out of bed, where I had already managed to settle down. I walked to the kitchen, made some warm soup to help me recover a little. After washing the dishes, I looked at the clock, which show six o'clock in the evening. Probably my parents are still working overtime. With that thought, I went back to my room, settled into bed and picked up a book. My eyelids were getting heavier as I read the book. A loud knocking made me fall out of bed. I groaned softly at the pain I felt at my left side. Soon there was another knock, causing my forehead to twist. The room was still dark. I could hardly understand what was happening. I stood up from the ground on my feet and listened for a moment. Another loud knock reached my ears, coming from the first floor. I opened the door to the room, but the house was completely silent. I could not hear my parents breathing in their sleep. I checked their room, but they were not there. My thoughts wandered from where they had gone and what time it was. From the darkness of the room, it was certainly night. Another loud knock reached my ears, and I was already hurriedly climbing the stairs to the first floor. Dad's jacket was nowhere to be seen, no were Mum's shoes. In one easy movement, I pushed the door open and Lilly's frightened face came into my view. "Amelia, fire." Lilly said in a shaky voice. "Where?" I asked, starting to panic. "The shop is on fire. Everyone's trying to fight the fire." Lilly pointed her finger towards the centre of the village. "Come on, let's go." I said and quickly put on my shoes. I ran as fast as my feet could, ignoring the pain in my side. After the second turn, giant tongues of fire appeared before my eyes. They were already in the middle of demolishing the village shop. People were crowding around the burning building. Some were carrying buckets of water from nearby houses. Others stood on the sidelines and just watched the situation. Somewhere in the midle of all the people, I saw my dad and my mum trying to help. I didn't want to get any closer to the fire, knowing that there was nothing I could do. From what I saw, this building could not be saved. "What happened here?" I squinted at the burning building. "Nobody knows yet. My opinion is someone set it on fire." Lilly looked in the same direction. "A basic building that supplies food is just collapsing before my eyes." I said in a sad voice. "It's going to be okay, we'll get through this." Lilly put her hand on my shoulder. " You will have to survive this and I won't be here. I won't be able to do anything knowing that you are starving here." I kept my eyes on the people rushing by. This building was the only source of food for our village. Of course, this is not counting the local farmers who kindly donate the food they grow during the seson. Nevertheless, it was the main source. It will be many days or weeks before another building is built to store. All the goods that come to this shop are part of the contract with the werewolves. For a fee, they take care of our full warehouse, so that there is absolutely nothing missing. Of course, that fee is money. Werewolves are much more numerous in the form of survivors, which is why they basically control the surviving economy and the resources that are distributed according to them. "Could we have more water?" a woman's voice could be heard in the distance. "Take this over there," the man pointed his finger at the burning house. People were getting slower and slower and tired of the fast pace. Soon the first rays of sunlight appeared in the sky and the neighbourhood began to glow. After such a long time, almost nothing was left of the burning building. The roof was charred and caved in, the windows were without glass, several of the main columns were burnt out and two of the walls had collapsed, The damage was one hundred per cent irreparable, and it was all someone else's fault. Soon my mother and father joined me and Lilly. Their faces were tired and dirty with soot and coal. I hugged them tightly, glad that they were safe and well. "Are you all right?" I looked at them from head to toe. "Yes, are you on your way home?" Lilly asked my parents. " Yes, Amelia don't stay long." Mom looked in my direction. "Okay." I smiled half a smile. My parents soon disappeared around the next bend and I was still standing with Lilly. When the flames had almost died down, I wanted to take a closer look. So I took a light step towards the remaining ruins without waiting. People had almost dispersed. "Where are you going?" Lilly followed behind. "I want to take a closer look." I sneered at her. She didn't say anything to me, just walked next to me. Finally, I was so close to the building that I could smell the smell of incense in the air. I could still feel the heat from the wreckage from the embers that were left behind. My sensitive sense of smell soon detected a strange odour. I followed my hunch and went behind the shop building. My eyes carefully examined everything around me. My eyes instantly fell on the footprints left in the mud. It was not just footprints, it was a giant wolf's claw. I quickly flattened the ground with my foot so that nothing was left. The last thing I wanted was for the people of this row to start a war with the werewolves again. I will somehow solve this case alone. I saw large wolf tracks in the distance. Without waiting for anything, I headed straight in their direction, eliminating them one by one. "What did you find?" Lilly looked back at me. "Swear not to tell anyone?" I turned to Lilly. "Of course." Lilly could barely contain her laughter. I knew she found the question funny because she had been hiding my secret with me all her life. She looked at me with her eyes and waited for me to say something. "It's a werewolf." I pointed with my foot at the trail I had covered. " I don't understand." Lilly's forehead twitched instantly. " There are probably still werewolves who haven't come to terms with the human truce." I shook my head. I followed the trail of footprints that eventually ended at the beginning of the forest. It was difficult to see the footprints in the damp forest ground. But the strong scent of werewolves was still in the air. I could bet that it had left here quite recently. A little disappointed, I turned to walk with Lilly in the direction of the village. "Any of them could have done that?" Lilly wondered aloud. " I don't know." I shrugged my shoulders. We pulled slowly towards the village. The sun had long since risen and was beginning to spread warmth. I was enjoying nature when my sensitive hearing heard a rustle behind me. My she-wolf was immediately alarmed and began to growl. I quickly turned towards the source of the sound. I could not see anything through the dense trees. But my eyes were darting back and forth, trying to see something. "Has something happened?" Lilly stopped a metre behind me. "It sounded." I turned my head towards Lilly. I stepped next to Lilly when my ears soon heard a thud which eventually became louder and more like a run. I glanced back towards the forest. A few seconds later I saw golden eyes and a big brown wolf came out of the forest. "Lilly, run." I shouted loudly, pushing her forward.
