Delilah Pov
We talked that night but I don't think he told me anything he hadn't already. He wasn't ready to open up or tell me what was really going on. I was so lost and lonely. His presence brought me some comfort but every time he got close he quickly pulled away. Two weeks had passed and I wondered what my family, friends, and pack were doing. I knew they would still be looking for me. I almost wished they would find me. William was sweet but he had so many secrets hiding in his eyes.
Every morning, we took a stroll around the gardens. Today was no different.
"So, what was your home like," I asked him. "Where you grew up."
"It was nice, I lived in a small town with my mother and-," he hesitated. "It was nice."
"Don't you get lonely, not having a family," I said. "My mother offered you to stay with our pack after the battle with the witches. She used to tell me about you. She missed you a lot."
"I missed her too but it was not a good idea for me to stay," he explained.
"But you came back," I said.
"I came back because of you," my heart fluttered in my chest. I didn't say anything to that. We continued walking through the garden. It hadn't been tended to in awhile so there were little flowers blooming.
"You should really find someone to tend to this garden, it'd be ashame for it to die. It's really beautiful," I said. I ran back inside and got ready for dinner.
Every night and every morning, William tended to the garden and planted new flowers and shrubs. Our walks turned into me helping him garden. These moments slowly made me feel like everything was normal and that we were safe. Another week passed and the garden was better than ever. I began to hold his hand as we walked in the garden. I was amazed at the fact he actually let me. We shared a few more details about each other. He told me what his favorite food was as a human. He told me what he wanted to be when he was human. He told me how he wanted to sail around the world. It made me sad when I realized him becoming a vampire cost him more than his family. He lost more than I will ever know. I tried to comfort him and get him to see what he could have if he chose to come back home with me after this was over. I began to think he was really considering it. It was all nice, all of this.
That night I went to sleep early. I was so tired, I didn't really know why. I woke up around 4am, I wasn't sleepy anymore. I wandered around the garden for a few. I sort of felt tired again so I made my way back to my room. I stopped mid way when I heard a noise coming from William's room. I slowly opened the door and was shocked to see him kissing that women from my nightmares. The way he embraced her and kissed her bothered me to the core. I was angry and disgusted. Suddenly, he sunk his sharp teeth in her neck. She moaned and whimpered. I felt the ground beneath me shatter. My knees gave out a bit but I caught myself before I fell to the ground. Did he really not notice me? I wished this to be another nightmare but as I rapidly blinked over and over again. The vision in front of me didn't disappear. I felt my whole body getting hot.
"YOU SON OF A BIT-," William quickly turned around and I saw the monster. His face contorted and demonic like. His red eyes stared at me. I grabbed on to the sides of the doorway to hold myself up. I was so angry.
"You should go back to sleep child," Valencia said. I got even angrier and suddenly the door way was on fire. I let go of it out of fear and the fire disappeared. They both looked shocked.
"Stay away from me, stay away from my family," I said as I quickly turned around and ran outside. I shifted the minute my feet hit the concrete. I didn't look back or stop. I knew he was following me but I knew I could outrun him. I just needed to keep running. Watching him, watching him with her made me so powerless but right now I felt the need to fight and kill. I wanted to make them pay. I wanted to hurt him for hurting me. He was a liar. I ran back to my pack. I ran all night. The images of both of them wouldn't leave my mind.
The minute I reached the pack territory I linked the warriors who usually guard this area. They let me in and I ran home. No one was there. One of the guards told me my mother and father were out looking for me like every night. Even Alpha Mason was gone, he went with them I was told. I grabbed my phone and texted Wes. I told him to meet me at the lake. I got there first and got in.
"Hey, what the hell, where have you bee-," Wes stopped as he got closer.
"Get in," I said. He hesistated probably because I was naked. "Now." He took off his shirt and got in still wearing his shorts.
"What the hell Delilah," I got closer to him and wrapped my arms around his neck.
"I've missed you," I said. I kissed him. I mean I really kissed him. I don't know if this was the right thing to do but it healed my heart for the moment. I needed someone, anyone and I guess it was good that it was Wes. He was a good friend. It took him a minute to kiss me back but he felt how much I needed him and wanted him.
