Delilah

Delilah Pov "Wes," I shouted. "Are you coming?" "Hold on," he yelled back. "Where is May?" "I'm here. We are just waiting on you," May retorted. Wesley was always the one who took the longest to get ready. We were all heading to the lake. We loved spending our free time there. Free time is when we weren't training or going to school. Literally, having free time was rare but I enjoyed it more because of it. May and I have been close since we were little. She is my cousin and is more like a sister to me than anything. Wes has been my friend since I can remember since his dad is really close to my parents. I was the oldest of the three and very excited to turn eighteen. We all shifted when we were sixteen but none of us have found our mates so we stayed close because of this. "Alright, I'm ready," Wes came waltzing in. "Let's go then," I ran out of the packhouse and ran towards the woods. "So you excited to meet the other packs this gathering," May said. "It is what it is," I said. "I don't need a mate that bad." "Oh right because you already have your hands full," May joked. Wes wrapped his arm around me and grinned. I pushed him off me and ran faster to the lake. "Slow down girl," May shouted as she sped up to keep up with me. We made it to the lake and I quickly took my sandals, tank, and shorts off and jumped in. Wes and May quickly did the same. We all splashed each other for a bit but then May sensed the awkward vibe and swam off on her own. Wes came closer to me and kissed my neck before he made it up to my lips. "You know we really shouldn't be doing this," I told him. "May convincing you to drop me again," he said back. "She has a point, if we find our mate things will end badly for both of us," I said. "I thought you didn't need a mate," he snapped back. "I may not need one but that doesn't mean there isn't one out there for the both of us," I said. "We both said we wouldn't let this get too far." "And we haven't," he said. "We fool around but you haven't let me in." "And I won't," I grinned. "Tease," he said as he splashed water on my face. We made out a little bit longer and then I got a bit tired and got out of the lake. I got dressed and laid on the grass to get warm. "So what are we going to do if we don't find our mates at the gathering," May said. "I don't know but it can't be that big of a deal, right?" I said. "It might be, I mean I don't want to spend years looking," May said. "I'm good," Wes answered. "Of course you are, can you both be real for a second," May said annoyed. "You two are lucky no one has figured it out yet." "Wes's dad practically knows and wants me to be his mate but I obviously am not," I said. "An alpha's daughter is the best fit for an alpha's son," Wes winked. "Tell your dad, it's never going to happen," I joked. "Well it wouldn't be the worse thing," Wes said. I knew he was half-serious but we both knew it was never going to happen and it held big consequences if anyone ever found out. We started heading home and dropped off Wes first. Alpha Mason was waiting at the door for us. "Delilah, how are you?" he asked. "It's good to see you." Alpha Mason was always super nice to me and I knew he would love for me to be his packs luna when his son took over but if it didn't happen a year ago it wasn't going to happen now. "We should get going," I said. May and I walked hand in hand to her house and then after I dropped her off walked to mine. I suddenly heard a siren and knew that danger was near. It didn't take long for some of our pack warriors to find me. They surrounded me and walked me back home. My parents ran out of our house and shifted in mid-air. Watching them fight and lead our pack has always been fascinating to me but it also was scary. They were strong individuals but stronger together. I didn't want to think about how much danger was out there waiting for them so I went upstairs and put my headphones on. I laid on my bed and tried to think about anything else but what was going on outside these walls. I heard my parents come home twenty minutes later. They held a pack meeting with the high ranking warriors and our beta. My mom and dad then came to check on me. "You okay?" my dad asked. "Yeah, I didn't see anything," I said. "You have to be careful out there," he said. "I know, I was with Wes and May so we would have been fine," even though I train every day my parents always worried about me. I never really understood why. Being an alpha's daughter put a target on my back maybe more than anyone else but I still was able to fight and protect myself. They made it seem like something else was going to come out and get me. "Just be careful Delilah and don't push yourself too much," my mother told me. I nodded and they both hugged me and left me. -want to meet up in five- I got a text from Wes and decided to meet up with him. I already knew what he wanted but I wanted it too. I liked having him around. Even if we weren't mates, we understood each other and had some sort of feelings for each other. I didn't think I could ever have this connection with anyone, ever; mate or no mate. How can someone mean so much to you if you just met them and know nothing about them? Mates, who needs em.
