William Pov
I went off on my own again. After saying goodbye to Aria and James. After my encounter with Delilah. I had to recollect my thoughts and remember what dangers lurked outside of this warm bubble I had created for her. I stood on a cliffside thinking about that night. The night Delilah walked in on me and Valencia. I was stupid. How could I let her get so close?
-That Night-
"William," her voice soft and gentle. It could always fool me and make me fall to my knees. Her scent was the first thing to hit me. I became immobile at that point. I sat on my bed waiting to look into her eyes.
"I've missed you," she spoke again.
"Don't lie," I said as harshly as I could.
"I'm not, you know I can't be too far from you," she whispered as she caressed my cheek.
"Valencia," I breathed out.
"William, we don't have to be enemies, we can work together," she said.
"You want to hurt my friends, people I car-,"
"CARE ABOUT," her tone had changed.
"Yes," I spoke softly almost in shame.
"You are so powerful yet you become vulnerable around a pretty face,"
"It's not like that,"
"Isn't it, you fell for her mother and now,"
"Aria, Aria was my friend and she was pregnant with Delilah when I-," I couldn't finish my words.
"You want to protect them so badly, you would betray me," she tried to sound hurt.
"You betrayed me first," I said bluntly. "You hurt me, you made me this."
"This? You are so strong now, you could be a king yet you choose to be a peasant," she said angrily.
"I won't fight your fight. I don't want what you want,"
"But a part of you does, it wants me. It wants me so bad it burns with anguish," she was right. My mind played tricks on me. Having her close to me was comforting in some bizarre way. I wanted to smother her with a pillow but also devour her with my lips. This connection we shared because of what she did, what she turned me into. I wanted to be rid of it. I would do anything to rip it from my soul.
"William," she whispered again as she leaned in closer. I didn't know how it happened or who pulled who first but I kissed her. I kissed her with every shred of pain and lust I had in me. I felt that monster grow inside me. It wanted more, it wanted something else. I turned her head quickly and sank my teeth into her neck. As soon as the blood hit my mouth, I knew I had made a mistake. It was pure bliss but also my heart broke into shambles. Delilah soon walked in and everything went black. Delilah ran off.
"Don't go after her," Valencia urged.
"SHUT UP AND LEAVE ME ALONE!" I shouted.
-Present-
I spent three days alone. In those three days, I found out some information and whereabouts about the rogues helping Valencia. I was able to track a few of them and make sure they never hurt Delilah or her family again. I returned and shared my finding with Aria and James. They were worried but sent out a few wolves to follow up with my findings. They had a gathering to prepare for and wanted to make sure no one interrupted their party. I knew what the gathering was and what purpose it served. I tried not to think about it. It was probably for the best for Delilah to find a mate and settle down with someone who wasn't a monster. Someone who would keep her safe and wasn't battling the urge to murder and kiss their ex.
I avoided Delilah and then she stopped coming home. She spent her nights at her friend's May but that's just what she told her parents. I followed her and we always ended up at her friend Wes's place or an abandoned house where he always showed up minutes later. I had no right to be upset but I didn't want her to make mistakes out of anger. Out of her anger for me. I wasn't playing games. I was just trying to keep her safe. She really was becoming important to me.
I was even becoming nervous because her birthday was coming up. I was torn like a schoolboy. Do I get her a gift or not? I didn't know my place in her life so I didn't want to overstep but I also wanted to show her I was here and wanted to do this for her.
I did find the perfect gift so now I just needed to find a perfect moment to give it to her. I was invited to her family dinner and then a party. Yet she wasn't as pleased.
"Why is he here," Delilah said as she rolled her eyes.
"Be nice young lady, William is my friend," Aria said sternly as she gave a look of disappointment to Delilah.
"It's okay Aria, this is a family dinner, perhaps I am in the way," I said as I began to stand up. I could see the look of regret on Delilah's face. Aria was about to speak and most likely yell at Delilah, probably force her to say something nice but Delilah spoke of her own accord.
"Please stay," Delilah said.
"Are you sure?" I asked. She nodded and I sat back down. We had a lovely dinner after that. I was excited to speak to Delilah alone and give her the gift I bought her. She excused herself so she could get changed for her party. I waited anxiously and when she finally descended down the stairs I was taken by surprise. Her beauty was undeniable. She was wearing a short very short lilac dress. Her father also looked displeased but Aria nudged James so he wouldn't say anything to her. She walked right by me and I felt her soft peony scent hit my nostrils. I wanted to grab her and hold her tight. I wanted to engulf her and do things I shouldn't even be thinking about doing to her. I was going crazy and I had to be very careful about every move I made.
