Chapter 15

I yawn as I stretch my legs out in the little chair there in the hospital room. I was sitting with aunt Alice. I was so worried about her. No news yet of when she could come home to us.
Alice was resting in her bed. The heart monitor was beeping beside the bed. Tears come to me. I lost my parents. Alice was all I had left. I had no one else. She could not leave me yet.
I knew Alice was a fighter. This was not over with. She was not leaving us yet. I wanted her around in case Greg and I ever did have a wedding. She had to be there on my big day. Sam was going to be heartbroken if he lost Alice.
He loved her. We all loved Alice. I wipe a tear back with my hand. I flip through another magazine. Not really even sure what I was reading. Maybe it was Redbook. Or Ladies Home Journal.

"You need to go home Daisy. Why are you still here?" someone speaks up. I look up to see Mrs. Brady come in. "You have been here all day dear"
"I am fine, she needs me" I add.
"She would tell you to go home and get some rest. I called Greg he is on the way to pick you up and take you home for the night. To get rest. And I will stay here with Alice the rest of the night. And Sam is stopping by" she tells me.
"Alright" I say as I yawn. I was too tired to argue. She smiles at me.
"Sweet girl. Alice will be alright. Our Alice is a fighter" she reminds me. I nod.
"She is all I have left. I have no family. I can't lose her" I sniff back tears.
"Dear girl you are a Brady. You have us. Well, I am sure you will become a Brady. We love you" Mrs. Brady tells me. She pulls me up from my chair and hugs me. "It will work out wait and see" she adds.
"Thank you" I say after we hug.
"Daisy is everything okay? Mom called me to come get you" Greg worries as he comes in the room.
"I am fine" I tell him.
"Daisy needs you to take her home. She needs some rest" Mrs. Brady tells Greg. "take her home" she orders.
"I will be back. Call me if anything changes" I say to her.
"I will dear" she tells me.

I nod. Greg places a hand on my back then leads me out of the room. I glance at sleeping Alice one more time before leaving the room. Tears come to me. I was an emotional wreck. Greg stops me in the hall and hugs me tighter. I hug him.
"I can't lose her" I cry on him.
"You won't lose her. Did they say when she might be able to come home?" he asks me.
"Not a single word yet. I am so worried" I admit. "I never have been so scared" I sigh.
He rubs my back and pulls me back to look in my eyes. "It will be okay" he softly adds.
"She is all I have left" I remind him.
"You have us. The Brady's. You are family" he reminds me. "you have me"
I laugh. "Your mom said the same thing to me. Saying I am nearly a Brady" I giggle.
"Well, it is true. We adore you" he says with a smile. He kisses me.
"I love you Greg" I say after we kiss.
"I love you to" he adds. "Let me get you home before mom comes out here after us" he jokes.

He leads me out of the hospital to his car. I get my seatbelt on. Greg looked so good. He was wearing blue jeans. Tight ones. And a nice striped, blue shirt. With his collar bone showing a bit in the front.
Not a hair out of place. He looked great. He always did though. He smiles over at me. My heart skips a happy beat. He reaches over taking my hand into his. Lacing our fingers together.
"You look so handsome today Greg" I point out.
He beams a smile looking pleased. "Thanks Daisy, I was trying for you" he adds.
I blush. "Thanks Greg" I giggle.
"You better get some sleep and not sneak up to the hospital. Mom will be after you" he jokes. "she worries over you like you are already her daughter in law" he adds.
"I love her to. I know she means well" I say with a grin.
He nods. "Want me to spend the night Daisy?" he offers.
"Can you?" I beg.
He nods. "Sure, if you will sleep" he adds.
"I will with you there" I promise him.
He pulls his car in his driveway when we get home. He stops in the house to tell his siblings he was going to be spending the night at my place.
We rush to his room and he gathers some things for the night there. I notice some photos he had out. I laugh as I see him in an Elvis type outfit.

"Greg? Care to explain this?" I giggle as I show him the photo.
"I hate that thing! Mom must have looked at it" he groans. "I am sorry you saw that"
"I am not" I laugh. "what were you doing here?"
"Singing. We were on a variety show. Our whole sibling clan. It was very fun. I enjoyed performing. At the time I thought I wanted to be a rock star. But I also once thought I was going to be a famous baseball player to" he jokes.
"I thought I was going to be a ballerina" I joke. "And the cost of lessons ended that one" I laugh.
"Sorry honey" he laughs.
I smile. "I am where I should be. Here with you" I say.
"Let's get to your place" he says. "you need rest" he reminds me.

We head back to my place. We get ready for bed. And we brush our teeth in our pj's. Greg looked so cute in his blue and white striped pj's outfit. I loved it on him.
Then we head to bed. Greg gets in then he motions for me to lay beside him. I snuggle into the bed and lay beside him. He wraps his arm around my shoulder.
"I love you so much. Try to rest Daisy, you will be alright. We will always be here for you. And Alice will come home to us. She will be fine. Wait and see" I hear Greg say as I close my eyes resting my head on his chest. He kisses my forehead. "It will all work out"
"I love you Greg" I yawn in agreement.
"Sweet dreams Daisy" he softly tells me. "get some rest"
And I do. My eyes close as I head off to dreamland for the night.
