Travelling home

1275 Words
Alora POV Kylie had insisted that we take a car, but I know they only have a couple for their whole clan, and I wouldn't feel right if we took one. Luckily, dad had offered us a ride, and with them being the closest to our pack, we agreed, I'd hate to put anyone out but I'm also releived because I just want to go home without any more attacks and with us being a big group of mostly Alphas, I think any possible threat would definitely think twice. We said our goodbyes, and I instantly missed everyone. It's crazy how we entered our new life, and we were separated straight away. Not that any of us argued as such. It was just strange to meet people for the first time and feel an unwavering connection, so much so that it felt natural to go home without Kylie, Poppy, and Liam. I missed them terribly, especially at first, but I still felt the need to give them happiness even when my heart was breaking. I knew they needed their families, and I would never have kept them from that. Here I am again leaving them, and yes, I know I'm dramatic. My hand rested on my stomach as I stroked it lovingly, already loving my pup as it grows safely and also protected. I will give it my all to be the mum my sweet baby needs. I lay my head on Austins shoulder, with one hand resting on my stomach. I stretched my other arm over Austin and relaxed while Aiden stroked my leg. I've droned out everyone's chattering, lost in my own little bubble of thoughts. I wonder if we will have a girl or boy, if they will have my black hair and icy blue eyes or their dads light brown hair and deep blue eyes. 'they are going to be beautiful,' Veda says with as love much as I also feel. I must have fallen to sleep because I wake up with a jump, and I'm on high alert. Both me and Veda are looking for the threat, waiting for the attack. Claws are extended, and I realise the growling that is filling my ears is my own. my eyes are searching everywhere, I can't see any danger, but that doesn't mean there isn't any. I feel sparks from Austin and Aidens touch, my heart slows a little, but I don't let my guard down, not until I'm sure. "Everything is fine. Your dad swerved the car," Austin explains, and as I look at him, I see his worry. "Sorry, Darling," dad says, taking my attention to him, from the front seat as I catch his guilty eyes in the mirror. Vedas claws retract, and my heart starts to slow down as I take in what they have said and scanned the areas around us, we are actually ok. It takes me a couple of minutes to get my bearings and relax completely. My mates touch also helps. "Sorry, I must have nodded off," I say with a stretch and yawn. "Will do you good to have a nap, sweetheart" mum smiled at me, but both my mates chuckled. "What?" I asked, confused. I ran my hands over my face and hair, checking them, thinking that was what they were laughing at, which made them worse. "Really?" I snap irritated. "Nap is an exaggerated," Aiden finally said with a laugh, but I still had no clue. "Why, what's wrong with a nap?" I question because if I'm being completely honest, sleeping is one of my favourite things to do, so they should know better than to take the piss. "Nothing, but it definitely wasn't a nap. You've been asleep almost 3 hours," Austin explained with another chuckle. I do feel refreshed, and as much as I want to feel guilty for leaving them with my parents while I slept, I just couldn't. I love my sleep. "You should have woke me up." I smile."Not a chance. You need all the rest you can get." Mum spoke from the front, looking back at me with a smile. Happiness radiates from mum, I'm not sure how to describe it, but it's like she has a warmth radiating from her, oozing love, guidance, and trust. She is my safe place, well, one of them. "What did I miss?" I ask, changing the subject, but none of them really said anything. Just shrugged. "Just chatting about packs and protocols mostly," Mum says, rolling her eyes dramatically. "Important stuff," dad defends himself and both of my mates, but mum just rolled her eyes again and sarcastically replied with, "Ok dear, of course." and I cracked up laughing. "I've missed this," I say in between laughing. "we've missed you too," dad says, looking through the mirror. How did I ever get so lucky. Aiden had already rang Gage and has arranged for 2 cars to meet us at the outskirts of the silverpaw thicket, which is an area known for its beautiful woods and lake. I was told by Donna that it used to be a popular place that all four packs used to visit for days in the sun and have quality time. it also was a very popular hangout for young wolves too, but that all stopped when the 4 packs locked down their territories. I would like to go and see the place for myself at some point, and hopefully, if it's still usable, get life flowing through there again. It's about an hour or so from home and also the split off in the road for my parents' pack, so is the perfect place to be dropped off. We are almost there, and I'm enjoying the conversation with Mum about our pup and her excitement at becoming a nanny. We make plans for us to go shopping, which I can't wait to do, I love time with my mum. I was speaking with Kylie, and I've also got a few good ideas for the pack. One is about having a*****e room, theirs is a cabin just in the woods and they have all different sized clothing for men, women and pups, it has a variety of baby equipment, such as prams, changing tables etc and also different selection of furniture. I think it's a wonderful thing and will save money and waste. I love the idea of helping our pack and them not worrying about funds to buy things, even though they all know we would never let any of them go without. "You will be ok, won't you?" Mum asks, full of worry. I understand why they are worried because we have no idea who is scheming against us or why. "Our offer still stands." Dad states, but I'd never take them up on that. My mates and pack need me. "I know, but I'm needed at home." I smile at him, trying to ease my rejection. They tried to talk me into returning back with them while Aiden and Austin sought out our enemy and put an end to the threat. Dad had even swayed my mates for mine and our pups' safety, even though our wolves wouldn't cope well with being away from one another. There isn't any way in this magical world that I would leave them, especially with the unknown lurking in the shadows. "We stand side by side always,' Veda vowed 'always,' and we both agree. "We will keep tham safe," Aiden stated, giving my hand a gentle squeeze, but I would never doubt that they would, I have full faith in them and their abilities.
