the party

2002 Words
Alora POV We are sat waiting for our escort to the party. To be honest, I didn't think we would be ready on time but we have managed it. I've decided to wear my blue summer dress, I was so relieved when I pulled it out of the bag. I was worried it might have been messed up in the attack. Both of my mates are wearing jeans and shirts. Austin is wearing black jeans and a white shirt. Aiden wearing blue jeans and a light blue shirt rolled up to his elbows, both looking mouth wateringly good. None of them has mentioned anything to do with the attack, and I have let it go for now, but they also need to know we will be having the conversation. "We really do need to talk about the attack and whatever you were discussing about it earlier," I say, clasping my bracelet around my wrist. "We will.. let's enjoy the party and time with your family, and then we will talk tomorrow," Austin says, but I get the feeling that they don't want to talk about it. "Fine, but we will be talking about it," I state just as there was a knock on the door, which, by the way, they both looked relieved at the interruption. "Let's just have fun, ok?" Aiden says, making me smile. "ok, and can we please keep our news to ourselves until tomorrow? It's Kylies night," I ask, walking to the door, and they nod in agreement. We are quietly led to the back garden. It looks magical. Fairy lights are twinkling all around us, decorations and tables were set up. The food smelt amazing, and my stomach grumbled in anticipation. The massive bonfire was alight, roaring and bright, spreading heat over the garden. "Lori," I hear a squeal from behind me, and when I turn, I'm being pulled into a tight hug. Poppy is sobbing, and Liam is rubbing her back. I pull him into our hug, too. "I've missed you both so much, how are you?" I ask as tears run down my own face. My brothers also stood behind them, waiting to see me properly, but I'm not ready to let Liam and Poppy go just yet. "Miss you too," Poppy says, still clinging to me. "we've been good," Liam says happily, hugging us both. They both pull away, Poppy wiping her face, and my brothers hug me. I've missed all of them. They look so good and happy. Liam, I'm sure, has grown again and is proudly stood next to his sister, wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt, his blonde hair looks longer, and Poppy is as beautiful as always, her long blond hair is down with a few flowers holding some hair out of her eyes, her soft pink dress makes her look delicate, which is her 100%. I'm happy about the life I have, but I miss my family so much at the same time. "Kylie is going to be so surprised." Poppy giggled as we all smiled and agreed, Kylie would be shocked because we speak a lot on the phone, and she knows that I can never keep anything from her. Secrets are definitely not our thing. We are standing talking with all our families, and I can see our parents are also having a wonderful time, they don't get to spend a lot of time together either. Since our return home, their friendships have been tight as ever, that's how they should have always been. I look at the door and there she is, Kylie, wearing a green summer dress with a cardy, looking beautiful but the smile on her face stands out the most. She is so happy it leaks from her whole being. Both her and Freddy are beaming. He is so lucky to be mated with Ky, yes I sound biased because she's my sister but she has a pure heart and soul, the world will always be a brighter place with her in it. "SURPRISE.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY," we all shout. It makes me giggle that we make her jump a little. Pops gets there first for a hug along with Liam, I take a minute to take it all in, how happy we all are. I wrap my arms around they group hug. "I've missed you all so much. How have you all been?" Kylie asks, already her attention is on us "we are great" Liam says and Ky ruffled his hair "good" she giggled while he rolled his eyes and straightens his hair back out from where she had ruffled it. "You know I'm too old for the hair ruffle?" he gruffs, and we all laugh. Us 3 girls give each other the look, and all our hands go straight to his head and start ruffling his hair. "Hey, hey, stop it," he laughed along with us. I spent the night chatting and laughing, getting to know their clan. If I'm being honest, though, they were nothing that I had expected. Growing up in the human world, vampires were things of nightmares, roaming the night looking for their next kill, blood lust, and hunger pushing them to kill, but its a massive difference in real life. It's weird to say they are just like us because they are a completely different species, but they really are. I've had the best night, but I'm feeling so worn out and ready for bed. The only problem with that is that the party is still in full swing, and I'd hate to ruin it. Kylie is making her way towards our table with Freddy, and she looks as exhausted as I am. Maybe it won't be bad if she goes to bed first. All eyes are on the birthday girl as she looks lovingly at Freddy "It's time," I hear her say with a smile. Actually, we all heard her as her dad and mine stopped chatting, and all eyes were on them. "Time for what angel?" her dad asks, as intrigued as I was. They both stood up, Freddy standing behind her, wrapping his arms around her as they both smiled widely. "Can I have everyones attention?" Freddy asks, and the whole place goes quiet, waiting for him to carry on. "I'd like to thank you all for coming to celebrate with us. We came to celebrate Kylies birthday, but we have had some news this past week. We would love to share with you all," he kissed Kylies head. I'm so happy my sister has found the love and peace we wished for growing up, as young girls daydreaming of a better, happier life. I know any sister would say the same, but she truly is beautiful and kind inside and out and deserves all the happiness. I can't hold my smile watching her, so much that my jaw is aching "we are going to be parents," and that wasn't what I was expecting. I sit in shock at the prospect of my sister having a pup of her own. I watch their every move trying to process the information, we are pregnant at the same time, and I couldn't think of anyone else I'd love to share this experience with. Freddy placed his hands lovingly on Kylies stomach, and she placed her hands on top of his. Their touch is filled with so much love. 'Can we share our news, too?' Aiden linked me with excited, which soon dwindled as I shot him down 'definitely not, this is her night and I will not take that from her,' I state smiling at her and that's when I notice I have tears streaming down my face. Happy tears. 'Fine,' he sulked a little but still stood with me to congratulate the happy parents to be. We ended the night after talking and laughing with our family. I was exhausted to the point of Austin carrying me to our room. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I was out for the count. We are sitting in the dining room, my belly rumbling with hunger as Aiden went to get me a plate, even though I can get my own, but he won't hear of it. "So how have you been?" Sarah asked, sipping on her tea. "I've settled in our home. It's beautiful, and the pack has welcomed me with open arms." I reply with a smile, and just then, Freddy joins us. "Morning, where's Kylie?" I ask as he sits, and I notice Kylie wasn't behind him. "Kylie is sleeping still, and I didn't want to wake her," he answer me but I knew he would pay for that later. She will not be happy being left asleep while we all have breakfast. "Well, you should have," came Kylies amused but sleepy voice from doorway as she walked in. "Love, you sit, I'll grab your breakfast," and off he went. "I can't believe I'm going to be a nanny," Sarah cried. "It was a shock to us too, mum." she said almost in tears. That was until Freddy placed the bowl of fruit in front of her. We both scoff our food down. "How long till I meet my neice/nephew?" I asked, looking at Kylie, but she couldn't answer because her mouth was full of strawberries."We have about 3 weeks left," that caused Peter to spit out his coffee everywhere. Obviously, he was shocked at that piece of news, but so was I. "What, there's no way," he choked. "I'm about 5 and a half months," Kylie explained before popping melon in her mouth. "We have so much to plan, angel," her mum said, and I feel ready to share out news, too. I want to tell them while everyone is together. 'Its time' I link my mates as I feel their excitement in our bond. "We girls need to get organised," I said with a smile, excitement bubbling in me. "We do, sis. I'm so thankful our boy will be surrounded by so much love and security, " Kylie whispered, stroking her belly and started to cry. I was by her side in a blink of an eye already hugging her. Before kneeling in front of her, placing my hands on top of Kylies, "My sweet girl, you will always be able to rely on us, and so will your children. We all love you, and I know growing up wasn't ideal, but we made it home. We are exactly where we are meant to be" and now I was crying as we hugged "must be the hormones" I smiled as I pulled back from Kylie "it must be I've been up and down lately" making me smile even more "me too" and the room was silent apart from my dad. He was now choking on his food. "Wait, what? We are both?" Kylie stuttered "yes" I laughed partly at my dads reaction and partly because I've shocked Kylie. Actually, the whole lot is shocked. Both my mates are beaming with pride. "I'm so happy for you all," Freddy said and stood to congratulate Austin and Aiden, hugging them and then me when I stood up from Kylie. "Why didn't you say sooner?" Freddy asked but I shook my head, "no way was I taking the light from Ky" I would never "not at all we could have shared the night" she said but the night was hers. We spent a while chatting. All 4 grandparents to be was happy and celebrating. Talking about plans and already coming up with nicknames for our babies. I always wanted a happy family, and sitting here, I finally feel like we have one. We were all excited, looking forward to the future. I feel tired again after spending the day with some of my most favourite people. We bid everyone goodbye, and we headed for home. I've loved spending time with my family, but I'm also ready for home, for my own bed.
