Alora POV
It's been hours since Donna had been hurt, actually since she was attacked.
I've been in between helping my alpha mates to try and find any clues or evidence to find the person behind the attack and sitting with Donna, giving as much support to her and Greyson as I can.
"How is it that we can't find anything at all?" Aiden growled frustrated to hit a blank brick wall. "It doesn't make any sense. There should be some kind of evidence left behind, a fingerprint, or even a stray hair but nothing," Austin growled in the same frustration. "There's been no breakthrough at the border, I mean, how has a witch even got in here unnoticed?" Gage added, and he's right, we are all thinking the same, and that is whoever the traitor is, that lives among us is working with witches. We need to find them now, before it's too late.
"Maybe Isla can help she should be here soon," was all I could say, just as confused and frustrated as everyone in the room. "I hope she gets here soon," Linda cries for her daughter in law, she has Carrie and Caria on either side of her, giving her comfort.
I feel like we are on repeat, going over everything we have, which is practically nothing, hoping something is there that we might have missed.
It feels like forever when the door crashes open, and Isla runs into Caria arms, who is already standing with open arms.
"Sshhh darling, it will all be ok." She soothes Isla as she loving hugs her and strokes her back. Only as a mother can.
A small cough grabs our attention to the open door.
There stood an older man and woman, both with their heads bowed slightly.
I see a resemblance to Isla. She has the same eyes as the old woman. Anxiety and caution roll from them both.
"Nanna, Gramps, this is my family. Family, this is my Nanna Joan and Gramps Percy." Isla introduced us, and we all swap pleasantries.
It is nice to finally meet Islas' grandparents and put faces to the stories Isla has told us from when she goes to visit them.
"We won't know if we can help until we visit Donna," Joan explained softly, after we had filled them all in on the situation. "We need to get straight to it, though, because if it seeps into the bones, there would be nothing we would be able to do." Percy adds, and I'm already standing and heading for the door.
"This way, I'll take you straight to her," I don't hesitate to just take them, "We will come with you. Dad, can you ring around the other packs and see if there have been other attacks at all?" Austin asks and walks towards me with Aiden not far behind him. "Of course, son," and with that, we pick up our pace towards Donna.
Fingers crossed, they can help. Please, Selene, let them help. I send silent prayers to our goddess. Donna is a pure and beautiful she-wolf and doesn't deserve this.
"Can you give us a minute, we need to speak to Greyson," Aiden says, and both Joan and Percy give a small nod in agreement.
I give them both a small nod to go in without me while I speak with Isla.
"Maybe you would feel better waiting outside, sweet?" I give Islas hand a gentle squeeze, but I knew looking in her sad eyes she was filled with determination, shaking her head. "No, I want to help her. She is my friend." she says, her voice thick with emotions. "Ok, just be ready because it's bad, and if you need to leave, then that's fine too." I try and prepare her, but I know that no matter how much I try, it won't ever be enough.
The door opens, and Aiden, Austin, and Greyson exit the room.
I can see Greyson on edge, but he's still respectful.
Isla hugs him, and it is almost his undoing,
He greets Islas grandparents after they are introduced by Isla. "We are so sorry about your mate, Gamma Greyson." Joan says softly. "We will do everything we possibly can, but we need to move quick," Percy stated looking towards the door the men had exited "Of course, I appreciate any help you can offer" and Greyson led the way.
As soon as we entered the room, Isla started sobbing. she went straight to Donna's side and kissed her cheek.
Both Joan and Percy go to Donna's side and are inspecting her leg.
"We don't have long before it enters her bones. It seems to be a potion, which is good for 3 reasons. 1- If it was cast on Donna, we wouldn't be able to help. Only a royal can remove another's magic. 2- A potion can always be reversed with the right anti-potion, and 3- this kind of injury would normally be cast but because its a potion its possible that it wasn't a magical being that actually poured it in to the hottub." Percy explained while Joan was rummaging in her bag and then writing something down on some paper.
She started pulling out colourful bottles and a beautiful bowl. "I have everything we need to reverse it apart from 3 ingredients," Joan explains while lining everything up on a table. "What do we need?" Isla asked now fully together and held her hand out for the paper.
"Ashwagandha root, lavender calyx, and Gingko leaf." I see Islas eyes light up as she reads the list, but I instant hit panic mode. Where in the goddess do we find that.
"I've never heard of any of those." I'm so lost, but Isla practically giggles, causing me to jump at the unexpected noise. All of our attention is now fully on Isla. "Thank you, goddess. I have these in my room, from one of my visits. I got them to practice with, but I haven't used them yet." and she hugged Donna before any of us could speak she was talking again. "Nanna, you start the potion, gramps you start getting Donna ready, and I'll be back in a minute." she stated and ran out of the room.
We are so lucky to have Isla, and I'll forever thank the goddesses for bringing her into our lives. I just wished it was under better circumstances, but she entered our lives at just the right time.
"I need permission to touch Donna's leg," Percy asked while putting on gloves, looking up at Greyson. I could see the hesitation in his eyes, but he nodded in agreement anyway.
"Thank you," and with that, Percy removed the dressings the nurses had placed over the worst areas of her leg, then he proceeded to clean it with water.
"I need to express that once the potion is ready we have to rub it from the tips of her toes to the top of her thigh, we will need help to hold her leg up while we cover the entirety" his voice was calm and clear "I'll help" Greyson said pulling some gloves from the box "I'm sorry Gamma Greyson it can't be you, it ne-" but he's cut off with a growl from Greyson "I need you to be with Donna to try and keep her calm" he explained further cutting off Greyson "she is in a coma" Greyson said but the old man shook his head with sadness "she is but as soon as we start applying the potion the pain will be unbearable and no coma can keep her from feeling it, if it is going to work we need to make sure we don't miss any part" Percy said sadly and Greyson growled but not directed at anyone in particular.
"I'll hold her leg" I offer but he shook his head again "it isn't safe in your condition as it can harm the child" he stated and I'm flabbergasted at how he knows "we pick up on these things darling" Joan said from the table and all I can do is give her a small nod. "I will then" Austin said giving me a wink "great and if Alpha Aiden could hold her other leg down we are all set" Percy said looking from Austin to Aiden and we all nod in agreement.
We are stood where we are needed, ready to help Donna. I'm standing at the top of the bed on Aidens' side so I can try and comfort Donna without the risk of coming into contact with the potion.
The door bursts open, and Isla is carrying 3 jars.
"I've found them. The only thing is I've only got ground Lavender calyx and dried Gingko leaves. Will it work?" she asks in a panic, but when her nanna smiled and nodded, she blew out a massive breath of releif.
Joan pulled out a mortal and pestle from her bag and started pounding the ingredients together, adding one at a time.
The smell was awful until she added the last green ingredient, It was sparkling liquid that seemed to be already bubbling in the bottle, and as soon as it was added, the scent changed to a woody scent. There was a flash of green and a puff of smoke, and Joan appeared next to percy, who took the potion, and Joan put on gloves.
"This is going to hurt. Not only is it going to burn away the harmful potion, but it will also regrow the tendons, veins, muscle, and skin. Be prepared, and we must hold her still no matter how much she tries to fight it, no matter how much she screams we need to push through it all if we are going to help her" Joan explained and gave us all a nod.
We all get prepared to do what we were instructed, but as soon as they both touched her leg, rubbing in the potion, she bolted upright with a scream. it took us by surprise that a second of shock almost ruined our chance to help her. Me and Greyson held her down by her shoulders, Aiden was pinning her left leg to the bed, and Austin was holding her leg as best he could. "I'm sorry, sweet. I know it hurts, but it's the only way." "You will be ok." "You have got this" "Not much longer" I try my best to soothe her and keep repeating my words in her ear and I see Greyson doing the same but I'm not sure she can hear us over her screams. I feel Veda pushes strength to me, and I needed it. It is so brutal, and Donna's screams will be with me for my entire lifetime. I wouldn't wish this torture on anyone.
I need them to go quicker, but I look and see them going as fast as possible as well as all three of them chanting.
Her screams are earsplitting, which is understandable as she's in pain, I'd take her pain if I could, but instead, I'm not much help at all.
I can't stop my tears from falling, but I keep trying to soothe her the best we can.
The door bangs open, and as I look up, I see Holly and Gage barge through the door. They both look horrified.
Holly runs to my side, helping me hold Donna down and trying to soothe her along with me and Greyson.
It feels forever before they are done applying the potion, but when they do, they stand back and bow their heads and chant more. As soon as their chants stopped, Donna passed out. Please, Selene, please help her heal. I pray to our goddess for help, and I hope she can hear me.
