losing it

Alora POV "We need to go to the clinic," sadness swallows me. Looking at Holly, she feels it, too. "We need to know what happened first." Austin stopped us in our tracks as we headed for the door, I don't want to wait about. Donna needs us. "Can we talk about it later? we need to go to Donna," I say, hoping he drops it, but looking at him, I see that isn't going to happen. Don't get me wrong, I understand why they need the details now, but there really isn't anything to tell. I hesitate and look at the hottub. "We need to know now, love," Aiden replied, looking at the omegas. They were doing what I had asked them to do, Wendy had a small bowl getting a sample of the water but hissed in pain as she stood up, a drip ran down the outside of the bowl and onto her finger. I could see pain in her eyes, and she gritted her teeth. I was so wrapped up in Donna and panic that I hadn't even thought about what I had asked of them. I asked them to get a sample of the water that has just done so much damage, s**t. "I'm so sorry, Wendy. I wasn't thinking," I said as I walked towards her. Her skin instantly sizzled, and she almost dropped the bowl from her hand. Gage was faster and grabbed a nearby towel, and took the bowl from her shaking hand. I looked at Wendys hand, and whatever had been added to the water was burning her skin. It was sizzling and blistering. it was the smallest drip, but the pain was severe and evident on Wendy's face and shaking hand. She was trying hard not to make a sound and sweat formed on her forehead. "You will be ok, I'm so sorry," was all I could say, still looking at her finger. If she was in this much pain from a simple drop of the water, my heart broke for Donna. Her whole leg came into contact with it. "Mary, Nina, please take Wendy to the clinic." Austin said while him, Aiden, and Gage were looking at the water. "Yes, Alpha" and the omegas gently led Wendy out but just before they exited the room completely Aiden spoke "make sure you are available when we are done here" and they were nervous with Aidens aura was filling the room. My Alphas anger was through the roof. "Yes, Alpha." came their reply, and they left. "Someone is definitely against us in our own pack," Austin growled out, and he's right. It has to be because our borders have been fortified since the threat. "We need to work fast. They got too close, " Aiden was just as angry as Austin, and I could see him trying to keep Kyn back. "We were having a great time. There was nothing that screamed danger." Holly was thinking out loud, looking distantly at the hottub and shuddered. "I don't understand how anyone could do this! Don was screaming so loud," her voice breaking and tears streamed down her face. "We need to figure this out and now," Gage comforted Holly as she cried. "I think it was meant for me," I say, hating the fact that my friend got hurt because of me. I feel arms wrap around me. "I was going to get in first, but we were messing about, and Donna got there first." I felt awful, 'It wasn't your fault.' Veda tried to reassure me, but I felt sick. "Baby, it's not your fault," Austin says and kisses the top of my head, but it doesn't stop the tornado ripping through me, a whirlwind of guilt, sadness and anger. "I need to go to Donna." I wiped my face dry and looked at Holly to see if she was ready. "There really isn't anything to explain, we were fine, and then Donna wasn't. No one entered the room while we were in here, and the omegas never looked nervous or suspicious." I rushed my words out and held Hollys hand, heading for the door. "We will be along soon. We need to go through everything here first," Aiden explained, but I just need to get to the clinic. "Yanic, Dalton, you are to protect your Luna. Do not leave her side. Xabia, Davis, and Gregory, you are to guard Beta Holly and Gamma Donna." Austin orders some of the warriors, "Yes Alpha," and they follow us out. My head is a shed at the minute. It all happened so fast. Both Holly and I walk in shocked silence. I see Maria heading for the spa in a rush, but we don't stop. we carry on to the clinic, I just hope Donna is healing and ok. Those hopes are smashed to pieces as we get closer to the clinic and can already hear Donna's screams, Whatever has come into contact with her skin is still effectively hurting her. I feel sick to my stomach. We walk in, and Greyson is pacing the waiting room. "How is she?" and I instantly regret the question, its a f*****g stupid question especially when I can hear her screams. I don't blame him when he didn't answer. He just kept pacing. He will feel a portion of her pain, and that is one of the worst things about being connected, feeling their pain, and being useless to help. "Do they know what it is?" I quietly ask, but Greyson growls. It's directed at me, but I can see him losing the battle to keep his wolf under control. Hearing their mate screaming in pain must be the most difficult thing. The warriors behind me growled at him, but I don't take offence, I understand his reaction completely. "Stand down," I say, looking behind me, and they bare their necks. "Greyson, you need to hold it together," but my words are not helping, landing on deaf ears, and I'm lost on what to do. Fur is sprouting from his skin painfully slow. He's losing to his wolf, and that will be a very bad thing. His wolf will be driven to protect his mate to a point that he could hurt, even kill anyone trying to get close to her. 'I've linked the Alphas' Holly linked me, and I give her a subtle nod of my head. His growls are getting as loud as Don's screams. "She's.. in so.. much pain.. I can feel it." his words squeezed out in-between growls and was bent over and shaking. "You need to fight Greyson," I whisper, but I know he can hear me. His wolf will be on high alert, looking and listening for all danger. He looked up at me this time, and his eyes were flickering between his and his wolves. The growl is so loud and powerful that I feel in rattle my bones. He truly is losing himself. The door hits the wall as it busts in. "Stand back, Alora," Aiden says on edge, looking at his friend. Greyson is shifting, but it is slow and painful. He is fighting it but is definitely losing the fight. "Greyson," Austin moved slowly along with Aiden to stand in front of me. I look back, and Gage is in front of Holly. This is bad. We trust Greyson, but in this state, he's unpredictable. "Greyson," Aiden and Austin said as one, gently trying to coax him, but he's struggling. "Please.. she's in pain.. bad pain," and he was now scratching at his skin, trying to tear it off. With each scream, his will swayed, and he was shifting more. I felt the room shift, Aiden and Austin switched from friend to Alpha. "GREYSON, DRAKE, CALM DOWN," Aiden growled in full Alpha mode, and I see it working. An Alphas command is near impossible to ignore. "GREYSON, TAKE DEEP BREATHS AND GET YOUR WOLF UNDER CONTROL," Austin commanded, and I see it's definitely working, he can't fight his Alphas commands and the fur starts sinking back into his raw skin. He starts taking deeper breaths, and the rigidness starts to leave his body. The screaming from Donna hasn't stopped yet either. He is now calmed down enough to talk. "Greyson, Donna needs you. Please," I plead with him, and his eyes flick to mine. "I can't help her, I can't take the pain away," and I see all of his emotions in his eyes. "A mate being in pain is the most awful feeling, but you CAN help. A mates connection helps, and being close to one another helps. You holding her hand will help her more than you will ever know. Please, she needs you." I almost beg, my eyes sting with tears, and he finally listens. My words sink in. He nods his head and stands, straightens his clothes, and wipes his face "thankyou Luna" and with a nod from Aiden, he walks into her room. "That was close." I blew out a deep breath. "He has a lot to answer for, growling at his Luna," Austin says, looking at the now closed door of Donna's room, but that doesn't sit right with me. I also just realised the warriors were standing next to us, so I was completely surrounded. "He does not. He was in pain, and it's our given nature how he acted." I state, and all heads turned in my direction."Growling at his Luna is disrespectful and will not be tolerated from anyone." Austin stated with a finality that there would be no room for argument but not this time "I trust Greyson with my life and in his time of need he swayed from 'what is right' and he will not be punished for it" I explained and both sets of gorgeous eyes on me hardened at my words. "He can apologise, but as far as punishment goes, no way," I say as Aiden opens his mouth to argue. "We will discuss it later," Aiden says, and I know they won't let it go, but I'll deal with it later, I won't be backing down. Honestly, I have no idea what is happening or why anyone would want to cause this much pain and suffering.
