Chapter Four - Avant Wolf Pack

Avant, Arkansas in the United States is another forest where only werewolves reside and only pack members live in the area which is well protected by their current Alpha Steve Knight and their beautiful Luna Melinda Knight of the Avant Wolf Pack. Avant city is also close to the shore of Lake Quachita right across from Bear city, 30 minutes across but the driving distance is just 1 hour away.

Avant Wolf Pack has an obsession to become the strongest of the Pack throughout America; not yet the largest but the strongest of all werewolves in America.  The pack is known to be so obsessive with their mates and is capable of protecting their territory from Rogues, Hunters, and Witches. There is also a forbidden rule that all werewolves in the Avant Wolf Pack have been following; one must not mate with a witch because witches are werewolves’ number one enemy.  Therefore, they can have other types of mates such as Werebears, Demons, Angels, Mermaids, Vampires, and so on but a Witch is a big ‘NO’. Lately, there haven’t been any other mates besides Werewolves. So they don’t expect werewolves to find mates that are some other type of creature.

Legend has it that witches were perceived as evil beings by early Christians in Europe. Witches are dark and deadly. They practiced witchcraft, using magic spells and calling upon spirits for help or to bring about change. Some witches are doing the Devil’s work. Many, however, were simply natural healers whose choice of profession was misunderstood.

There are Covens’ that are usually refers to a group or gathering of witches. A group across Europe met in groups of thirteen is called covens. Some coven doesn’t worship a man, sacrifice animals, dance naked in words, and don’t swear blood oaths. The covens were made up of women who joined of their own free will and never more than 13 members in a gathering. There are no men in a coven. The coven people hear about more often, each witch devoted themselves to ‘The Master’, also known a God, who could take on many forms, including animal and human. This coven would worship him, sacrifice to him, and honor him in various ceremonies.

These witches support each other and lend magic to each other when one person speaking their needs and desires into the universe simply isn’t enough. They provide spell tips and tricks and communicate about their success, failures, desires, and concerns.  They don’t leave the coven and there are no men in the group. Witches don’t fall in love. Witches are human and may practice their own beliefs but they are not immune to love. The only people who do not fall in love are those that fear love and don’t allow themselves the greatest gift of life.

Ever since the Moon Goddess had separated all supernatural, the witches had learned to follow and obey the rules the Moon Goddess had set for them. They are to remain as a coven and live like a happy family. There are many covens around the world and the rules are the same for everyone. All these covens do keep in touch and meet together once a year for a feast to celebrate the birth of a New Year which is on New Year’s Day, January 1st.

But this is all only a legend about witches. It may be true or not. The World is changing and everyone in it is changing too. Many years have passed by and the Avant Wolf Pack just doesn’t trust any witch in their presence. But not only Witches but the Pack has a hard time trusting other creatures and they do try to get along with them. The Werebear Pack is a group they only trust though. Avant Wolf Pack has heard about the healers who are witches who do not belong to a coven and only seek them when needed but under some circumstances. A werebear must accompany the witch when the Avant Wolf Pack seeks out help. It is the only way, the witch can be trusted.

Alpha Steve Knight and Luna Melinda Knight have three sons and one daughter. The first two sons that were born did not have a strong Alpha gene to carry on the role of becoming the next Alpha in the Pack. The third, that is, was born with the strong Alpha gene and he is only one year old at the moment. James Edward Knight is the one-year-old boy that will become the next Alpha of the Avant Wolf Pack. The Knight’s daughter is only 3 months old and the pack all loves her. Of course, the three little brothers are very protective of their little baby sister.

“Hello little sister, how are you doing this morning,” said James Edward while looking down on his little sister in the arms of his mother, Melinda Knight.

“Well, good morning to you too, James. You are so obsessive with your little sister at a very young age. I’m starting to get a little jealous here,” said Luna Melinda to her son, James.

“What’s obsessive? And what’s jealous,” said James Edward who was too young to understand the meaning of those two words?

“Well obsessive relates to jealous which is a feeling or showing envy of someone or their achievements and advantages. But you are not going to understand that yet since you are still too young to know the terms I just tried to describe. Now go on, James. Wash up and get ready to have breakfast. Later today we are expecting visitors from the Bear city to come by and check up on my health and your baby little sister,” said Luna Melinda.

“What’s wrong with the pack doctor? Is he sick to attend you and my sister,” said James Edward trying to understand what’s wrong with their pack doctor?

“The pack doctor is fine. I just need a different healer to help me at the moment. That is all. You will not understand since you’re too young. Now, run along,” said Luna Melinda while putting her daughter in her crib to sleep.

James takes off to go wash up. Luna Melinda Knight waits until her daughter is fast asleep and walks out to meet Alpha Steve Knight at the dining room to have breakfast with the whole pack. Breakfast is later served and now they wait for the visitors' arrival.
