Chapter One
Writer's POV
She laid there, six feet under the ground, her mate nowhere to be seen. The rain pounded against the earth above her, the sound of each drop like a hammer blow. She shivered in the cold, her body soaked and numb. It was as if the world had turned against her, as if the storm had a personal vendetta.
She tried to close her eyes, to block out the sounds and sensations, but it was no use. She was trapped, a prisoner of the weather and my own fears. Soon, her mate came over to her. He was supposed to be her mate, but he turned out to be an animal in human form.
What was she expecting? He is a wolf. He is still an animal. She was badly injured. As the rain continued to fall, She heard the crunch of footsteps on the sodden earth above her. She opened her eyes to see her mate standing over her, a dark shadow against the stormy sky. His eyes were cold, his expression unreadable. She tried to speak, to beg for his help, but the words stuck in her throat.
`"You're a fool," he said, his voice harsh and cruel.
"You thought I would protect you, that I would save you. But you were wrong."
"You thought I loved you? Hell no! I don't love you. In fact, I rejected you the moment I saw you and I have my love life now and there is nothing you can do about that. You are just a weak, pathetic, fragile b***h. You rot there." Adams spoke like she was nothing to him. Like they never shared anything together.
As Adams spoke, his words felt like a knife to the heart. It was as if their time together had meant nothing to him, as if all the moments that they had shared were nothing but a lie. It was a betrayal unlike any other, a hurt that ran deeper than she could have imagined. She wanted to scream, to tell him that it wasn't true, that they had meant something to each other. But she couldn't speak, couldn't find the words to express her pain.
He turned and began to walk away, his back stiff and unyielding. Then he ordered his guards to continue to bury her. She was groaning, wincing. She was badly injured. All she longed for was a mate and not a monster.
She was regarded as a curse because she had a silver wolf. Adams promised he would never let her secret out that she was a silver wolf. But he did. He betrayed her. She could feel her heartbreak as Adams gave the order for his men to continue burying her alive. She wanted to fight, to resist, but her body was too weak, her injuries too severe. And so she lay there, helpless, as the earth closed in around her. At that moment, she felt like the lowest creature on earth, the most worthless and reviled.
She thought back to all the times she had hoped and prayed for a mate, for someone to love and cherish her. But now, she realized how foolish she had been, how naive. He didn't only betray her, he cheated on her. He pretended like he loved her, but he never did. He never loved her. He used her, he manipulated her, he betrayed her. What else could she say?
As she looked up through the falling dirt, she saw a woman standing nearby, watching the scene unfold. Her name was Clara, and she was the one who had been in her place, the one who had taken her place in Adam's heart. And as she looked down at her, she saw nothing but hatred and contempt in her eyes. She was a stranger to her, but she knew that she despised her, that she saw her as nothing more than a worthless, discarded object.
She closed her eyes, unable to bear the sight of her, unable to bear the weight of her hatred.
"You thought he loved you? You are wrong, but I am the one he loves. I am the one he truly cares for and not you, Eliana. You will die because you are a curse. No one wants you, no one needs you. You are a curse!" Clara blurted at her
Tears were streaming down her eyes.
As Clara's words pierced her heart like daggers, she could feel the tears welling up in her eyes, a physical manifestation of the pain she was feeling. It was as if all the air had been sucked out of her lungs, as if she was being suffocated by her words. She couldn't speak, couldn't respond.
All she could do was lie there, feeling the dirt settling on her skin, feeling the weight of her hatred pressing down on her. It was almost too much to bear.
But then, something deep inside her, something she didn't even know she had, started to fight back.
"How could you? How could you..."
She didn't even get to speak completely when she started to feel the dirty sand on her. The guards had begun to cover her up.
"No!" She gasped, panic flooding through her.
"No, please, don't do that! Please, you can't!" She struggled to speak, to make her voice heard through the dirt and the mud. But it was no use, they couldn't hear her, they didn't care. All they saw was a cursed woman, someone to be disposed of.
As she felt the earth covering her face, she closed her eyes, trying to hold on to the last bit of air she had left. She was terrified...
The fact that she was claustrophobic even makes it worse. She tried to scream but the more she did, the more the sand entered into her mouth. She was helpless.
My claustrophobia kicked in with a vengeance, making the situation all the more terrifying. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest, her breath coming in short, ragged gasps. She felt like she was trapped in a nightmare, unable to wake up. And then, just as she thought it couldn't get any worse, she felt something moving, something crawling across her skin.
